In all honesty, allowing AC in a gold game (solo or otherwise) would remove the "challenge" from the themed challenge completely, even at beginner level. So I'm against that particular idea. Switching from Collectors to Reapers for console players seems like the best way to change the rules, if they are to be changed. Allowing non-hazard maps would be OK too, though in some cases (Ghost/Ghost Hazard) this would result in a pretty big difference difficulty-wise, and perhaps should be balanced by additional requirements (such as disallowing cyclonics IV or the use of missiles). I too would like to hear what Clusum and Pres think about this.

I too would like to hear what Clusum and Pres think about this. I am not suggesting AC for all console players and for all gold challenges, I am talking about gold Collector challenges on PS3 as this would allow the Collector protocol to be used. Also this would be a solution for maps like Jade, Goddess or London, not for the rest of the non-hazard maps, on which your risk to get a hard freeze isn't as high. If you think that would make it too unchallenging then at least consider HT's suggestion of specifically allowing nukes on W8 instead of W3, for those challenges in which you can nuke only on obj waves. I also happen to agree with you on the fact that replacing Collectors with Reapers would be a better choice for those maps. Not all hazard maps are problematic on PS3, just Ghost Hazard or Giant Hazard. Dagger, Reactor, White and Glacier Hazard are OK, they do not need to be changed.

The team of the: proudly presents: Hamletic's Tales from the TrenchesWeek 10: Thessia
II. Old School, New School (HardCore)31:09 - HamleticTortoise | DocSteely (v)Retrieval - Devices - Escort Collectors on White vs. AA/Acolyte and Drelldept/Widow, 75 biotic/tech kills combined, 100 assists. This was a redo, as I hated the way I played the Drelldept the first time. At least this is a decent performance. And ofc we get Devices on W6...

Hamletic's Tales from the Trenches Week 14: Earth II. This Is It, Isn't It?27:00 - x3lander | TheDoctor46N7Failed the first time. One would think that with ten thousand husks and hunters on wave 9 you'd get the kills required, but the games steals so many kills from ammo and force... Probably sour grapes, but I don't like the design of this particular challenge - get me the golden apple from the three-headed dragon, a silver unicorn' hair and while you are at it, bring me a necklace from the moon, all on the first try... Week 15: Epilogue I. The Pale Blue Dot26:33 - x3lander | TheDoctor46N7Meh. Whatever. 14.II killed my mood completely. I'm going back to witchering.

I'm going back to witchering. ... now I feel bad I actually had a similar problem racking up biotic kills with the volus vanguard on 10.1, a lot of charge kills didn't register as biotic kills for the medal. For 14.II, I tried to balance it for gold, where I think it works: getting kills keeps you busy early, getting WS means balancing your aggression, not getting synced keeps you on your toes in the later waves. I am very aware that in general my requirements for insanity are basically a shot in the dark, and perhaps this time I missed the mark by a wide margin. I understand not everyone will like every challenge, but if one kills your desire to play, that's a serious flaw! The "getting it on the first try" seems a pretty controversial requirement, perhaps I'd have done better to do away with it... In any case, huge congrats to you and muahmuah for completing the series on Insanity!

Obviously, it's doable and obviously, I know enough about the game mechanics to strategize for it. It just requires a radical shift in attitude, as compared to the other challenges in the series. Though, if we're talking Plat, if the RNG gods conspire against you, only a few select teams in the world would pull this off on their first try, given the map choice and the particular constellation of requirements.

The "getting it on the first try" seems a pretty controversial requirement, perhaps I'd have done better to do away with it... In line with our recent discussions about changing the rules, I advise that you refrain from touching Trenches now that several teams have finished them with original requirements. Perhaps you could've changed this when you got the first complaints but now it's too late.

Then again, only a few select team would take on this challenge series on platinum I definitely didn't consider how annoying the "first try" requirement would feel; for this challenge too, I think I let the lore get ahead of the gameplay in this instance. Perhaps it would have been better to do something more in line with your own "fight for the lost" series: e.g., have a 5WS (3WS for insanity) requirement leading to 15.I, or 10WS (5WS for insanity) unlocking 15.II, while doing away with the "first try" thing. Lesson learned for the next time! I understand not everyone will like every challenge, but if one kills your desire to play, that's a serious flaw! No need to worry, I have no plans to change the requirements for this one, especially because so many teams have already passed it Apologies if my previous post left room for doubt in this respect.

I for one am looking forward to that challenge. And I also think xel was just looking for a pretext to do some more "Witchery"... He'll be back.

How about "Veteran of the Trenches" for those completing the series on hardcore, "Master of the Trenches" for those completing it on insanity, "Grand Master of the Trenches" for those doing both? A special sign at the end of the title could be added for those who finished with 15.II, if deemed necessary...

The team of the: proudly presents: Hamletic's Tales from the TrenchesWeek 11: The Citadel
I. In the Pitch Black, They Sound as if They Were One Person (HardCore)29:00 - HamleticTortoise | DocSteely (v)II. Scraping the Bottom of the Barrel (HardCore)27:24 - HamleticTortoise | DocSteely (v) I. Retrieval - Escort - Devices I don't know about you, people, but for me lore wise this series is spot on. Between two of my favorite characters (both voiced by the hottest "Black Sun"), I chose Matriarch Aethyta and obviously her Krogan dad left her a "little" souvenir ... That left Admiral Xen with her baby, the Arc Pistol for HT. As for the gameplay? 10WS (with HT using a no-fitness build!) and 100 assists should tell you something about the fun we had (not spoiled even by the W10 devices). II. Escort - Devices - Hack Tbh I can't remember (to my shame) the last time I used the incisor. Also my SalInf, though my favorite infiltrator, was a little rusty, so you'll see I started to feel comfortable around W5. We managed 5WS for waves 6 to 10... And it sure helps to have two infiltrators for the unavoidable devices.

Just some randome challenges I've been doing lately and earlier. Hamletic's Tales From The Trenches (Hardcore):Week 15 I. The Pale Blue Dot (Asari Adept with Paladin Pistol; N7 Paladin Sentinel with Hurricane)44:21 - Anubita | Sonashii [v]Hack / Escort / Targets Well, this one was a bonus challenge as we finished the series with the good ending. And what can I say, it was the most satisfying challenge we've done. Because of freaking platinum. I know for many of you platinum is not a big deal. But I personally did only 1 plat solo in my life, Anub has never done it. I did a couple plat duos, mostly with Terror and one with Docsteely So you get the picture. Took us 4 attempts to finish it but we made it, and it's all that matters in the end. And it took us only 4 mins longer than freaking Vorchas challenge, and I'll leave it at that Yes, I did this challenge with muahmuah before, on Insanity, but I was mostly spectating back then, so it was basically his solo haha. At least I contributed here and big thanks to Muah and Doc. I think that hours of terrorizing me finally paid off [...] HT,pls.Only two teams passed 14.2 on the first try on plat.I don't know how many have done it on gold, but it's much more easy.On gold have many, many mooks.I did that challenges on gold with Sona and we succeed on our first try.He just wanted to train for it.Don't take me wrong,i don't want changes in the rules, just saying Week 14 II. This Is It, Isn't It? (Vanilla Human Adept with Hurricane; Vanilla Human Sentinel with Hurricane)22:48 - The_Doctor46N7 | SonashiiDevices / Delivery / Devices Yes, we did this challenge like a month ago, on my request. It was for practice so I don't want to add it to my whole series time. Well let me add my 2 cents to this Hamletic's series discussion. I was afraid of this challenge and its 1 try reqiurement. There was a lot of things that could go wrong. I wrote my concerns about that before and Hamletic is aware of them (lag, disconnecting etc.) But I must agree, if you're focused and disciplined, you pass this challenge without a problem. Anub found it easy even comparing for example to 14.I Big Bang(s) (or Vorchas challenge ! sic). As for the Platinum version, I'm not in the position to make complaints coz I'm a scrub and I'm not capable of doing them on that difficulty But as the changing current rules is not an option, I would suggest to ADD more like current difficulties (Hardcore, Insanity) could be renamed to Hardcore+ and Insanity+ (like in modern supercars there is Sport mode for gearbox and Sport+, you with me?). Then Hamletic could come up with normal Hardcore and Insanity with slightly easier requirements like 2 tries on 14.II etc. Just food for thought. N7 Challenge Series (Hardore/Gold)N2.III - Pull-ups (BF3 Soldier with Katana)64:01 - Sonashii (250 796 pts)All I want to say - goodbye Rio! I've had enought of this map

I think that hours of terrorizing me finally paid off I am so proud of you.Did you see?I didn't terrorize you for nothing.Be ready for more, but i won't play till monday,so you will have 2 free days.

I needed to wash away the bitter taste of defeat, and since ya'll were waxing on about it in the other thread, I decided to redo 183 Pullups. N7 Challenges GoldN2.III. 183 Pull-ups31:48 - x3lander (255 642 pts)No 10 WS cause I Die At Wave 1... Very nice! And with the Rev... That's how "The Witcher" is looking lately?

I've had enought of this map Great job, Sona! It would seem you learned a trick or two from TheDoc...

The team of the: proudly presents: Hamletic's Tales from the TrenchesWeek 12: Horizon
I. Great Orbs of Fire (HardCore)31:39 - HamleticTortoise | DocSteely (v)II. Synthetize This! (HardCore)30:58 - HamleticTortoise | DocSteely (v) I. Retrieval - Hack - Escort This one was not so bad imo, as I had extensive practice lately with the Revenant , also I respecced my GT for Cerberus. Still it was surprising to get it from the first try. A great job by HT with the phantrolls! II. Devices - Retrieval - Hack This is the third try because I derped pretty badly in the first two tries so we could not get the 5WS. I love playing with my little robots and concentrating a little gave the expected results, despite Devices and the W10 central Hack. Also I would call both of these challenges as a "redemption of the Cryo Ammo" as I used it both times with very good results. P.S. Fixed, thanks, Sonashii!!

The team of the: proudly presents: Hamletic's Tales from the TrenchesWeek 13: Cerberus HQ
I. You Sir, You Are a Blight! (HardCore)26:54 - HamleticTortoise | DocSteely (v)II. Conrad Verner, Ph.D (HardCore)30:53 - HamleticTortoise | DocSteely (v) I. Escort - Retrieval - Devices Team Scum is the perfect blight imo against Cerberus, so we got it from the first try, despite the W10 devices. Another great job by HT with the phantrolls and a lot of FUN for me! I love the BatSol and I think I definitely got the easier job... II. Devices - Retrieval - Escort Two of the most powerful characters on one of the worst maps in the game, luckily against reapers. I love the ACA, I think he's well balanced, his only problem is that up to this day DS was never fixed. A pity as he would have been among the top two most powerful adepts in the game. As for the Hengie, when played right (watch HT), he's definitely OP, another argument for l2p the vanilla human characters. We also got this from the first try and I found it real fun!

Gotta say, since finishing N7 I really have no desire to do some of the challenges I haven't tackled yet.
Like the one in the Mordus series with the SI/Incisor/Vindicator vs Collectors?!?!? I looked at it a few days ago and thought "that'll be challenging to do". Had the time today and last night to try it and just was like......
no.
