I've had this on my mind for a while now. ME2 is my favorite in the series - I find its tactical combat and balance unparalleled. Making an ME2 MP seems like an easy way to bring a fresh take on an old favorite without needing to sink a ton in development costs, and it could be quite lucrative if it catches on.
I think it's likely that when BW regroups on the direction of the ME series, they may test the brand's strength and the market's interest by releasing the trilogy remastered as everyone has been clamoring for. If they do that, why not tack on MP for ME2, reusing the assets?
I'd play the shit out of that game and drop a ton of money on it. Wondering if anyone else feels the same.

I know this is heretical, but ME2 was by far my least favorite of the original trilogy. Much rather see a visual remaster of 3/3MP. Not that it'll ever happen.
If you just stopped playing at Marauder Shields (which I did at least twice that I can recall), 3 was damned near perfect, or at least perfectly matched the experience I wanted at the time.

Eh? Most balanced combat? All I remember from ME2 combat was constantly dying from stagger. Like, EVERYTHING staggered. Then it was dead in a moment. Especially from flame wielders.
Then there was the enemies that lay down suppressive fire on you and those who've taken damage run around (far away from your weapons or powers could reach) and returned when their shields recharged. Wasn't fun at all. The story was good. The combat I could have lived without.

I will definitely buy ME2 again, if that`s what you are asking.
ME2MP should take completely different format from the rest of MEMPs.
They should actually let us use real named characters in MP.
Zaeed, Garrus, Thane, Samara... etc etc.

Ehh, maybe. I would consider it if it looked decent, but sight-unseen is going to be a no. I like some of the balancing mechanics in ME2, what with certain weapon types either excelling or suffering against different defenses, but the core gameplay of 2 is less fun to me than 3's.

No, I will not repurchase the Trilogy unless they package up the entire thing with all the DLC included for a discounted package. I've played through the Trilogy twice in 2016 and liked it, but I've just bought/played it, so I am confused as to why I am supposed to repurchase it. The graphics in 2 & 3 were fine. It's the DLCs that still cost way too much and not packaged with the Trilogy that bugs me, not the graphics.
I am even more confused at a suggestion to re-purchase ME2 specifically, because of all four ME games, imo it is the least "stand alone" title. So... why? The story is fresh enough in my mind, and no way I am replaying ME1 to set up a Shepard for ME2 or accepting default choices for just ME2...which I remember well, so don't want to replay again...
What I want are MEA2 and/or the DLCs that continue the Andromeda story with or without Ryders and enrich the MP.
I also do not really want DA4 and Anthem. DA4 because I don't like the setting and the story in DA3, and Anthem because nothing really felt interesting there so far.
the game I would repurchase with modern graphics and with a new MP is Jade Empire. Even if it's just an MP.

ME2 is a fantastic game, loved every moment of it (except for Hammerhead DLC...), but the combat was painfully awkward at times, and it was very-VERY cover-based. The limited sprinting option and the absolute no-dodge/no-roll thing would not work very well in MP.

Already had collectors in 3.. only thing that was missing from 3 IMO was the gangs from 2. Blue Suns/Eclipse/Blood Pack would've been way cooler than 'bandits'

I love ME2 to bits and at the time I found the cover-based combat really fun. However, going back to such limited movement would be really difficult after the progressively more mobile combat of ME3 and MEA.
Plus there was only one combo detonator in ME2. Can't go without my combos.

A ME2 re-master on the unreal engine with updated ME3-style multiplayer would be amazing. They could bring back every single class and weapon from ME3MP on release but build on-top of ME3MP with brand new ME2 themed DLC content:
Factions: Blue Suns, Eclipse, Blood Pack, Geth (DLC), Collectors (DLC)
Base Maps: Blue Suns Base (Omega), Eclipse Base (Illium), Blood Pack Base (Tuchanka), Purgatory, Dantius Towers
DLC Maps: Zoya (Zaeed), Bekenstein (Kasumi), Haestrom, Migrant Fleet*, Heretic Station*, Horizon, Collector Ship**, Derelict Reaper*** Key: *Geth Only, **Collectors Only, ***Collectors or Geth
Ultra Rare DLC Characters: Blood Pack Rocket Trooper Soldier (Vorcha) Eclipse Engineer (Salarian) Blue Suns Sentinel (Turian) Eclipse Commando Adept (Asari) Blue Suns Infiltrator (Batarian) Blood Pack Warlord Vanguard (biotic hammer) Elcor & Hanar characters Geth Rocket Trooper Geth Prime Awakened Collector Geneneral

Nope. ME2 was my least favorite of the trilogy - for story reasons, mechanics reasons, and combat.
Also note that ME3 & MEA both made an effort to tie MP into SP. In ME3, the entire galaxy was at war, and MEA has Apex strike teams to take care of business so the Pathfinder can... pathfind. ME2 was little more than a collection of follower recruiting and loyalty mission short stories, and a jump through the Omega-4 relay to take on the collectors. What would an ME2 MP component be doing? Sending Cerberus squads to protect human colonies? That would be TIM's purview, not Shepard's.
No thanks.

Almost everything about the combat in ME2 was made better in ME3, so I don't really know why there'd be an ME2 multiplayer so long after the fact.
Really the only things in ME2 that (I think) were better were that barriers weren't impacted much by tech powers, enemies had armor AND health, and SMGs and other automatic weapons actually had bonuses against shields that the game said they did.
ME2 also had worse functioning combat rolls, fatigue, no jumping over gaps, no jumping over cover, no going around corners while still in cover, etc.
I would full on jizz in my pants if they were to pull ME2 enemies and maps into ME3 though. I thought the enemy sets got slightly worse as the trilogy progressed.

On further thought, far more than an ME3 remaster I'd love to see a thorough remaster, including a combat overhaul, of the original ME.
I would play until my gnarled, useless fingers fell off if they replaced the Mako with something functionally similar to the Nomad*, and the combat with MEA mechanics (combos, gunplay, cover/movement) minus jetpacks. A remaster having those tweaks combined with the setting, music, main-quest pacing and voice acting of ME1 would almost certainly become my all-time favorite game.
And yes, I know this has a zero-percent chance of ever happening.
*Note: I'm actually one of the few who liked the Mako, but the Nomad's handling and general aesthetic is such an improvement that I couldn't stand to go back.

I thought the enemy sets got slightly worse as the trilogy progressed. You've captured how I feel about ME2 almost perfectly. The nexus of lore and combat mechanics was excellent, as was the variety in the enemy design, but I found the story less engaging than either ME or ME3, and the combat improvements from 1 to 2 were vastly overshadowed by the improvements from 2 to 3. Also: Fuck the Hammerhead in its stupid hammer face. I wanted vehicle combat to be improved in ME2, and instead it got so, so much worse. It was probably a wise choice to omit it entirely from 3.

I might, but it would have to offer something other than "more of the same" or I'd only bother if it was FTP.
I liked ME2 and played it multiple times, but my favorite was still the original. Yes, combat was clunky and slow, but the characters, story, missions and interactions with NPCs were stellar. But I wouldn't want to see a MP combat game made out of the original since combat wasn't the best thing about it.
ME3 had the best combat system. I like Andromeda's, but the absurdity of the jetpacks have made it less than it should be.

ME2 was the best of the four.
But you would probably need to borrow a few things from ME3 to make good multiplayer, mainly the movement changes. The only thing I would drop from the combat mechanics would be the range modifiers.

PRO: * Singularity staggered and CC'd everything including Harbinger. * Mordin.
CON: * Only detonator power was Warp. * Every other character who's not Mordin (including Shep, he/she sucks in this game). * Working for the terrorists / Cerberus fanfiction storyline.
VERDICT: * Throw it out the airlock. Whoops, wrong game reference.
