The tooltips reminding you to use a First Aid Pack or whatnot.
In the gameplay menu you can turn them off.

Have you considered radius on charge if you use melee a decent amount? Staggering everyone in front of you to ensure you pull off a big punch combo seems better than the little bit of extra damage.
The punch being an aoe detonator (lol who saw that coming) may be his niche.

Damn Bat Vanguard looks pretty dope, at least in Gold shame him and that new shotty are both UR. Would have looked forward to unlocking either or both if it wasn't for that.

Bat van does alright in gold but then so do all the other characters. He's dog shit for platinum though with no debuffs and low survivability.
