I just played two rounds of Gold on PC with Asari Duelist and Krogan Vanguard with different abilities and it completely threw me off.
The Asari duelist had charge, cloak with a cooldown (not power cells) and warp. The kroguard had fortify, warp and shockwave.

Seriously, hopefully, some modded lobby. This seems to be a good sign if the modded powers work off host.

The krogaurd had fortify, warp and shockwave. Seems like a given that clan Nakmor would bring their Shaman with them.

OK, I don't know if it was a mod thing or not. It's never happened to me before. Tbh, the krogan vanguard without charge makes the character worse than it already is.

I can tell you right now that you entered a match where the host modded the game. PC right? The host was trying to recreate the Krogan Shaman from ME3, which had warp, shockwave, and barrier (fortify is the closest thing in MEA).

If I had known it was a mod, I would've exited the match.

Someone needs to mod the Krogan to give them a proper laugh.

The berserker has a running rifle butt strike and Drack in SP has the glorious running backhand. Either could be substituted in as our krogan's running melee.

Ah, modded lobbies... Things the host can easily (in less than a minute) do : - Change your abilities - Change your gun - Change soldier physics (jump height, velocity, running speed, gravity, ..) - Change starting spawn points, when Vertigo wasn't yet released, I changed spawn points to the very top of the tower, was funny to see pugs not know wtf was going on. Nice way to introduce them to a map they hadn't ever played on - Change enemy composition and their spawn points - Change objectives, timers, and their spawn points - Change wave order - Change enemy hitboxes, - Change map boundaries ... and so much more Things you can easily do as non-host : - Remove ability cooldowns - Change your gun - Change ROF, MagSize/Total ammo (no server check for some reason) - Change camera settings

You think it'll be possible to change Krogan melee animation to any of the other animations The Joe-Man describes in the post above yours, wavebend?

It comes down to what animations are available at runtime to which the Krogan's files can access. There are some cool looking melee animations, a few I've tried, that could be substituted for sure

Releasing OFFICIAL mod tools and proper mod support (like mod selection on match creation etc.) could prolong this game's life to certain extent (as it, in fact, was done by Relic with CoH2, for instance).

While i can see the obvious lure towards being able to mod chars etc, i can also see far enough into the future where this becomes commonplace, and you will never again be able play MEAMP the same again. There is a reason why these characters get the skills and passives that they get when launched, it is to provide balance among the other characters that exist, and even then there is clearly some characters that have the edge almost permanently even now. Imagine though if every game you now play in has everyone with modded skills/abilities in play.. where does it then end?
tbh, I don't suspect longevity of the game what will be enhanced here, i think it would end up as a chaotic mess.
I'm not saying it would not be fun to throw a much more useful skill on that one skill line that you never commit points to, but isn't that what really gives the diversity between all the class types that exist right now anyway? If someone comes up with 1 class with a certain array of skills/passives that just beats all others hands down, then everyone will be using that.. and thats when the game just becomes the same.
I've not seen these modded chars in play on any games i've played so far, and tbh, not sure I really want to either. It will certainly make a complete mockery of all these loot cards many of us have been playing so many damn games to get.

Well we'll see, but i don't think the use of these modded characters will be small isolated occasions, it may be at first, but once people see that people have managed to mod a character to give them the edge in a game, the it won't be long before they go and find out how its done, or.. download some simple mod pack that someone put together and made available for easy download/setup for the masses. Oh and i fully realise i'm not going with the status quo opinion on here, but nonetheless, while you have your likes/dislikes, everyone else has theirs.. including me, so if i post opposite to what you would like, just know that its all down to personal preferences and opinions While i can see the obvious lure towards being able to mod chars etc, i can also see far enough into the future where this becomes commonplace, and you will never again be able play MEAMP the same again. But you're asking a group of people not to play game the way they want to at all in order to make it more convenient for you to play the way you'd like, when it's already not that hard and there are plenty of things you can do to avoid them. See the problem? If it gets to the point where you can only find modded lobbies (unlikely), that's better than no lobbies at all - those players likely would have moved on. You're also ignoring that YOU could always make a lobby to avoid the problem. Also, I doubt many are modding to gain an "edge" (kits like the Scrapper and the avenger are already nearly ideal anyway and make platinum not too difficult), but rather to spice up the game with some new "content" in light of discontinued support.
