It kind of bugs me that Leliana makes no reference to Warden Alistair with whom she travelled for what - a year? I get that if you make him King, she may not reference him, but he is hanging around Skyhold - so you'd think she might want to say hello - especially if he is the Hero of Ferelden's lover....
Cullen and Hawke should also have been referenced in some meaningful way. Hawke and Cullen had a prior relationship. Cullen had a significant number of interactions with the Champion and was indirectly involved in several quests. They should have had a reunion scene and so should have Leliana and Alistair.
Thoughts?
As an aside, - why are there no children in Thedas except for Keiran?

I think that sometimes Bioware doesn't think about, or forgets certain things when they make dialogue. Like when Bull is introducing a Dalish Quizz to Dalish and explains about how Dalish can't have to many mages. Uh, I know Bull, I am Dalish. You seem to have forgotten.
Its also weird since, if you get the Assassin spec, Leliana references Zevran.

I think that if BioWare wants to have a new different protagonist in every game with new characters, they should be prepared to always bring in old ones in cameos...good ones too. Because once we were attached to those characters, as it was the purpose of these games. So I would have liked a little reunion with DAO characters. Not with my warden though because I don't want them to ruin the character like they did with Hawke and Revan ( )...They scrapped most Origins character. Where is Oghren? Sten? Shale?

As an aside, - why are there no children in Thedas except for Keiran? Because Bioware learned their lesson after ME3? Ok, serious answer, children tend to require their own models and animation to not be considered creepy misshapen adults. As for references from teammates about each other, I'd like that too but I'm the kind who gets too attached to previous protagonists.

Totally agree, especially about Cullen and Hawke. They have a long history together, and I would have liked to see some sort of reunion between them that would vary a bit depending on whether Hawke initially sided with Orsino or Meredith. I figure the reunion happened anyway...once Cassandra realized Hawke was at Skyhold, there would have been no reason for them to continue "hiding" in full view on the battlements or at the tavern I never even noticed the lack of NPC children in the towns until you brought it up. Now it's going to bug me every time I play DAI.

You see him at the tavern when Sullivan and company get captured. He doesn't even move; says something incoherent about needing help. Otherwise, it is pretty odd. Origins had a decent number of kids, three of which were reasonably important. They had human and elf kids, but no dwarf kids for whatever reason...although several dwarf women talk about their babies. No kids in DA2 that I remember...

That's how I interpreted it anyhow.

Because once we were attached to those characters, as it was the purpose of these games. I think just the opposite. No new characters, or as few as possible. Dump as much baggage as you can. Because every time you bring back an old character, there will be howls of WHAT ABOUT MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS!? WHERE"S THE REFERENCES TO MY OLD LI? They had their moments in the sun. Time for new heroes. Let the old ones retire in peace, or leave their further adventures to fanfiction.

I hope EA won't rush the team on DA 4 so they won't have to leave out obvious details like that (we can dream...)

There's a conversation between Morrigan and Loghain (Alistair as well) about Kieran, but apparently it's very buggy and doesn't always trigger.

Yes, I think Rat is a female dwarf. It's possible. The body proportions for female dwarves was rather odd back in Origins. Strangely, no female dwarves at all in DA2. Now in Inquisition, they made most female dwarves look like little girls (Scout Harding being a notable exception). I thought Bianca was a cute little girl the first time I saw her! Oh well, not a pivotal character either way. He/she doesn't move and his/her one line is close to incomprehensible. (I made out "Sutherland" and "I don't know what to do.")

Yeah, that was disappointing. Especially since she will mention Zevran with the assassination class like stated above (though that's still a very circumstantial line), and will also talk about Morrigan after she joins the Inquisition. Hell, Alistair even sends a "farewell" to Morrigan after Adamant.

@theloneshadow, It's in the Exalted Plains. West of that first Orlesian fort, there's that rocky outcropping you have to climb for the landmark and ocularum. Off to one side from where the shard is on the old broken ledge is an old tent with this family beneath it. Map location, since I am bad at directions: imgur.com/uSNeyAt
