There already are many similar topics already, like "what are you listening to", and "what are you playing". But for some reason a topic about "television", and all of it's current forms, is missing.
Yes, there is a thread about movies in general, but what I like to know, is:
-What show/film are you currently watching/following? Or recently? And did you like it or not? Ofcourse a motivation is optional, but I'll go ahead.
I've just been watching the movie "Warrior (2011)" on Netflix. If I can't decide what movie I'd like to see I'll just check the list of Netflix top-100 movies (at least which ones are available in my country), and see which one comes next. Often they would be choices I'd never have chosen myself, but plenty of them turn out to be rather good (but not all of them cater to my taste, which is relatively wide in my opinion).
In the case of "Warrior", it's about two brothers out of a broken family, a alcoholist father, and boxing. I don't care much about sports, let alone ringfighting, but this movie was pretty engaging, and immersive. The acting was top-notch, the camera work was marvellous, and even the fighting scenes themselves where exciting! Sure it's kind of a predictable movie in many ways, but the road to that predictable outcome was engrossing! I really enjoyed watching this, and I would fully recommend this heart-breaking film to anyone, even when you dislike boxing movies.
Shows I'm currently following:
-Star Trek: Discovery (S1A): one episode per week. I'm quite a bit of a trekkie, but I wouldn't call myself die-hard in this area, since I don't mind it 'violating' 50-year-old canon at all. I know it's only six episodes in so far, and it's not "classic Trek" like TOS, TNG, first-two-seasons-of-DS9, VOY AND Enterprise, it's still "Trek" enough to my taste to make me believe it's getting better and better. I'm also delighted that it's been renewed for a second season!
-Stranger Things (S2): Only watched the first episode halfway so far, but I was pleasantly surprised by the first season so I'm eager to find out more!
Shows I've recently watched:
-Marvel's Iron Fist (S1): Many consider this the weakest one of all of the four Netflix shows (not counting The Defenders), but I would personally put this above Luke Cage. The season finale could have been better, but I was greatly entertained by watching this show. Yes it starts out slow, like each of these superhero shows, but it's not as slow as Luke Cage before getting interesting. It's not as good as Daredevil or Jessica Jones, but I think it's pretty decent enough. And Jessica Henwick is HOT! Soundtrack is also excellent. Then again: I never got involved in comics in general, where a lot of the complaints come from.
-Orphan Black (S5): Just an awesome show, with a satisfying enough ending to it. It quit just where it should have been, instead of going on and on for several more seasons.
-Bojack Horseman (S4): I love Southpark, I like The Simpsons, but I hate Family Guy. I like Bojack though. It's not that I'm laughing my balls off for the entire length of an episode, but it's such an engaging show it grabs me by the balls, greedily forcing me to watch them all one after another. The world it depicts is just brilliant: humans and humanoids-with-animal-heads living along, small details in scenes which are clever and sometimes hilarious, interesting side characters... I think it's awesome.

Shows I am (sort of) watching:
Vice Principals (HBO) -Black Comedy Season 1: Two rival VPs want the principal job after the old one retires. The schoolboard brings in another principal, and the two form an unholy alliance to take her down. Can't get into Season 2 without spoilers. I have rather fond memories of East Bound and Down. If you liked that, you'll like Vice Principals.
Narcos (Netflix) - Drama A historical fiction inspired by the 80s/early 90s drug war in Columbia. Lots of fighting, lots of banging, lots killing, lots of drugs, lots of recent history. I really like most of what I have seen thus far. The first two seasons kick major ass. I was really impressed by them. The third seems to have turned into some sort of gay power fantasy. I give it a few more episodes before I drop it.
The Walking Dead - Drama Zombie Apocalypse blah blah It's not BAD, but it's definitely a step below a lot of the competition. If you're used to the ultra-high production value shows, it comes off as a sort of glorified indie. A whole lot of weirdness and unnecessary tie-ins. "We might get ripped apart by zombies tomorrow! time to complain about division of labor!" What in the holy retardation is that? Doesn't want to commit to its themes to be PC. Disappointing really. It's so preachy I find myself rooting for the bad guys.
How I met your Mother -Sitcom Just finished up rewatching this whole thing. Ending is bittersweet at best. But it was a great series.
Shows I am waiting for the next season of: The Man in the High Castle West World Game of Thrones Archer
Shows I intermittingly watch Trailer Park Boys

Watched Stranger Things awhile back and was highly anticipating season 2. Binged it today. Yes, I enjoyed it that much. Otherwise right now I`m watching Blacklist and Discovery.

New/Ongoing shows...
Star Trek: Discovery and Dragon Ball Super. A few documentaries that pop up on Netflix every now and again as well, otherwise nothing.
Older/Completed shows...
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: The Next Generation, a handful of other shows... I'm on a Trek splurge atm.

The Vikings Season 4. It's been a bit stale to be honest especially after my favorite character died (not going to spoil it here, just in case) but I think that's always been the thing with this show. Good characters and interesting plot, but the writing just seems to be inconsistent and sometimes even poor. Still a fun show to watch but sometimes too many questions are left unanswered and entire plot lines just abandoned on a whim. I used to like both Floki and Lagertha but this season they've both just been getting on my nerves.

I'm burning through gotham on netflix atm. Interesting series. I'm curious of any of the characters are going to notice Jim's increasily growly voice, or if they are just going to write it off as an eccentricity of his.

Finally finished season 2 I cannot imagine how the producers/writers are gonna come up with a third season. Everyone's arc has been tied up with a nice little bow...
Perhaps a new cast?

Series: -Also finished Stranger Things 2 recently. It was pretty brilliant! I didn't like episode 7 as much as the rest, but it was 'okay' sort-off. I'm curious how seasons 3 and 4 will turn out to be...
-Finished watching Marvel's Defenders. I thought it was pretty binge-worthy, and I was deeply entertained. But it was not without flaws, and I thought the fights weren't as impressive as I thought they could have been. And the in-squabbling got a bit tiresome.
-Started out on Sense8's season two. A show which is as brilliant as it is awkward. I'm still not sure what to think about those orgies, but maybe I'm old-fashioned...
Movies: -Watched Alien: Covenant yesterday. Really interesting, in my opinion. It did sort of start to bridge the gap between Prometheus and Alien, but there are still some unresolved issues... And dumb humans, like in all of the franchise's films.
-I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House: If you like horror movies with more suspension than stuff actually happening, you would probably like this slow-paced movie. I thought it was a bit of a snore-fest.
-Boyz in the Hood: I thought it was okay, but not exactly my beef.

I'm watching Vikíngs, I like the show even though it is not very historically correct, but the character Floki is one of my favorite characters ever on TV and next season it is heavily hinted that they'll have scenes at my favorite place in the world, Iceland (Which is historically correct). I've even seen places I've been to in the trailer.
Other than that, I'm also watching Better Call Saul which is quite a magnificent and intelligent series with the beloved Breaking-Bad vibe.
Also, I tried to get into Sons of Anarchy but it just did not click, I find it quite dumb and the characters completely off-putting. Its probably just not my taste, I've never been interested in the biker-genre.
Last but not least I am following Fear The Walking Dead, which is IMO much better than The Walking Dead in many ways, especially acting quality and believability, I really like a lot of characters in that show.
Thats about it.
Oh one more thing. I watched the pilot of Oasis, I hope it will become a full-fletched Sci-Fi series as I found the toe-in-the-water pilot quite promising. Also it really helps that my favorite actress of all the time is playing a leading role. :amirite:

Watching the last season of ST TNG on bluray. For some reason, I kept thinking there's a little scene of Picard and Riker playing musical instruments in the ep Parallels until I remembered it's from a screensaver. Pity.

Finished Sense8 season 2, and what a glaring open ending/cliffhanger it has if anything... Nearly nothing has been resolved, so it sucks that Netflix cancelled the third season initially (though understandable, the show cost hell of a lot of time and money to produce), but I'm glad they go the FarScape road: wrapping everything up in a two-episode mini-season.
I'm already a few episodes into The Punisher, and I think it's great so far!
I've tried to watch the movie "Mean Streets", but fell asleep halfway. What a boring movie that is... I've also watched the movie "Rush", which was far more interesting!
