I would likely isolate myself on a planet with with an incredibly hostile and unsuitable environment with my merc buddies

Build a merc base literally in the middle of nowhere and then wait for an N7 operative to come and attack me as part of a non critical (sure take of it if you have the time sort of) mission.

I would be a completely boring civilian with a completely ordinary job. My parents or grandparents would have left our homeworld to make a new life on a colony world, or maybe on the Citadel.

I wouldn't want to be a short-lived species like the salarians, but living for centuries like the asari or krogan doesn't appeal to me, either. I'll either stay human or be a turian.
