I'm quite happy with what I got already, don't need any surprises or gimmicks. The fact that Bioware is still marking N7 day is enough.
I would like to interpret it as someone in the dev team still remember the history of this franchise and what it has meant to it's fan base; That somewhere in the Great Halls a voice is whispering "the ME universe still has more to offer"...

Ten years, huh? Time flies so fast. It's bittersweet, considering everything that happened but I'm still looking forward to it. The words 'Mass Effect' just have that effect on me ya'know.
As for the peeps who are hating on Andromeda, look I was disappointed by it too but this isn't the place to be criticizing it. This thread is to celebrate 10 years of Mass Effect not hate on it's latest installment. Relevance is key here, my friends.
I wonder what these surprises are. I'm hoping beyond hope that they might announce a remaster for the trilogy but that's too much to ask, I guess. Maybe they changed their mind about the Quarian Ark DLC? Hate to leave a story half-finished. Whatever it is, definitely looking forward to it.

Seriously stop. This is a time for celebration, not to dig up things you don't like about the Mass Effect series. Indeed and just because they don't like MEA doesn't mean there aren't others who do like and appreciate what was done I know I do. Even if it didn't quite go according to plan. People are way too sensitive about the opinion of others. Yes, Andromeda got a lot of (thoroughly deserved) bashing. Indeed, I believe the videos making fun of it have more views than official trailers. Yes, this can be annoying to people that liked the game, but when I say Andromeda was terrible I'm definitely not saying people shouldnt enjoy it. If you liked it, good for you. But it won't change the reality of how the game was received and what it caused. |

Still can't believe it's been ten years. I still remember playing ME1 on the Xbox, it was just an awesome experience even with all the stuttering and slow texture loading lol. The lore and the galaxy were just so engrossing, and it was just so different than other games I was playing at the time.
I liked it so much that I bought it again when it came out on PC, and with all the technical issues out of the way it just became, and still is one of my favorite games ever. I played it last month, and it's still awesome.
That's why it' so hard to think about where things stand with the series right now. None of the games that followed brought me back to that level, but it was still a great ride for the last ten years.

Because we have no game in the pipeline, I think the "surprises" will be some discounts on games and merchandise. Maybe a few interviews and thank you videos from devs (maybe a Mac Walters sighting), but I don't expect any major announcements. Reassuring us that there is more Mass Effect to come would be nice though. So hopefully Casey Hudson steps up to the plate.

To the theme at hand: I'm still amazed how Mass Effect got into my head and brought me back to gaming after roughly a ten year hiatus before that. I would like to be a little less obsessed, but in general I applaud the Mass Effect team for all the enjoyment I got out of playing the games.

all that has been announced is no SP DLC for Andromeda. Do you think they may talk about the idea for the next Mass Effect game, since they have been saying that all that was announced was no SP DLC? I would hope but it seems unlikely just as remasters. My guess is a trailer showing highlights from all 4 games with Meer and/or Hale narrating it. Maybe some announcement about more media like comics, novels, toys, anime movies, and the like. I would really love to be 100% wrong about that and is announcements of remasters and/or remakes of MET and/or the announcement of ME:A2. I'm not holding my breath about it though. |

A remastered MET would be nice.... True. Then such a decision should be made and announced when they can do it properly. Not necessarily to meet an arbitrary anniversary. I mean I'm not expecting it to be launched soon, but at least some sort of announcement/acknowledgement that a remastered MET is coming or is being considered. A remastered MET would literally print money for EA but I doubt they would go that route cause it would have to feature ALL DLC content and EA would not have any other way to further monetize it after launch as ME1/ME2 did not have multiplayer so lootboxes and MTs are out of the question. I know a remastered MET will not happen cause EA can't bank off of it post launch, but it would be the one thing that many people (including those disappointed with ME3 ending/MEA) would like to have. |
