I played mars war logs and bound by flame and loved them. Though they had more then a few problems. This game however looks alot less indie and closer to something a big studio would make. Trying not to get my hopes up but I have to say the game looks great and if I heard right it won't be a short game. I just hope it has decent combat or great combat. Any news on romance scenes? They showed game play and characters in videos posted above. Romance scenes appear to be some kissing, then fade to black.

I feel like people are hyping the game a little too much. The article, to me, feels like it is just describing what is present in all other games already. "You can either choose to fight, or sneak past this enemy... what an amazing choice never seen before!" And then it is taking commentary from developers as if they were going to be absolute fact. Looking forward to having some actual reviews of the game as a whole, and not just snipbit reviews from potentially bought reviewers. Hopefully the game will be great.

Sorry if this has been asked before but is Greedfall on PC only available online i.e. Steam? I can't find anywhere in Australia that is selling a physical copy.

Looking forward to having some actual reviews of the game as a whole, and not just snipbit reviews from potentially bought reviewers. Hopefully the game will be great. It might be impressive that a double A game offers these features perhaps? A. I don't care if this exisists in every game ever as long as its enjoyable. I don't want the wheel to be reinvented I just want the wheel to work. B. If this were so common then more companies would be doing so...successfully. And so far the blend of stealth/ action/ and tactical combat is something I haven't seen in a game before or an RPG to this extent. And even games that have tried to do so to this point, has failed to do so successfully...like Inquisition had great action combat but the tactical camera and companion tactics left a lot to be desired...and BioWare has never done the kind of stealth I am now hoping they do. C. Whether its old or new the point of any system...especially something like combat...is it enjoyable and immersive? I would rather them do what all their other compeititors are doing well then trying something revolutionary and suck at it. D. Speaking of hype though I am not really hyping it too much. I like what I am hearing but a new studio and a 'Double A Game' isn't going to make me rush out and buy it until I actually see a lets play.

I don't think the pc version is going to have a physical copy no, only digital download. Atleast all the stores I've checked that sell physical copies only do so for consoles. Not a fan of when companies do that, aside from the fact that i like to have a physical object, it's a pain the in the butt for gift giving. What, do you wrap up a print out of your receipt email and put it under the Christmas tree? :/

Oh well Steam it is!!!!

As a person that cannot use a console controller due to a hand injury I am more that happy to indulge my gaming passion anyways with a whiz bang fairly new PC and reap those performance and graphical rewards. Well back in the days (looks across at bookshelf with BG 1 and its six discs) it used to be a pain in the ass but these days not so much and sometimes you get some good gimmicky loot or whatever but I mainly hate having to use a platform such as Steam simply because I don't have a choice!!!! l

I knew it'd be the end of my career if something happened to my hands, but it never occurred to me that I wouldn't be able to work a controller either. *immediately orders a sturdy pair of work gloves from Amazon* Thanks for making me aware of how close I stand to the abyss. I think I'll be more careful from now on.

The publisher Focus is investing in AA games and usually selling half a million copies (as they claimed for Vampyr) is enough for a small profit. You can see they don't do much marketing as well outside of their website and gaming conventions. I would have expected bit more since Greedfall is the Spiders's game with the biggest budget to date (although I will be surprised if that is even close to 20 million). And so far it does look as their best effort. I can only hope they continue to build and improve.

So you are not much of a bethesda fan. Those who create games where you can sneak past 98% of the enemies and still achieve your goals I suppose it is not a thing in Bioware RPGs though, that is true. C. Whether its old or new the point of any system...especially something like combat...is it enjoyable and immersive? I would rather them do what all their other compeititors are doing well then trying something revolutionary and suck at it. They could do the blizzard formula. Take what already exists but make it better. Well, that is the OLD blizzard formula at the very least., it is a possibility and I respect that too. D. Speaking of hype though I am not really hyping it too much. I like what I am hearing but a new studio and a 'Double A Game' isn't going to make me rush out and buy it until I actually see a lets play. I like the ideas as well. Spiders is a game company known for releasing bad to mediocre games only though, so there is that. They are onto something good, they have a great idea... buuut... can they really accomplish it. Time will tell, I have my doubts.

It seems a store in NY broke street date, going by their twitters. That means you might see spoilers popup now. I damaged the nerve that makes your thumb lift as in doing this so makes it very hard to use the right joystick and lets just say the way it was damaged gloves weren't going to help. And so far it does look as their best effort. I can only hope they continue to build and improve. GreedFall budget is 5m (might not include marketing though), Spiders CEO mentioned it in an interview a few week ago (I was more surprised that Mars War Logs was done with 600k in 9 months). And people are still asking for PC physical copies? Even the big publishers stopped doing them years ago.

And people are still asking for PC physical copies? Even the big publishers stopped doing them years ago. For an RPG game so much reminiscent of classic Bioware, 5 million seems really low and the studio must be quite proud. Creating Fort Tarsis probably costed more for Anthem Of course there are expected shortcomings - lip sync, lacking animations, probably weaker voice acting (and we saw the companion combat taunts to be limited in number too). But you have to cut costs somewhere of course. The use of Spiders's inhouse Silk engine probably also kept some costs low and the team is experienced using it after several games with it. Overall it seems Spiders are a very focused studio, don't waste time and money (of course they don't really try to innovate) and know very well what they can do and how long it would take. I do wonder if they postponed Greedfall for more polish or extra content. The game was hinted as a 2018 launch back at 2017, even had the 2018 date at some game cons, but then was changed for 2019. The recent combat videos do look much better than the 2018 gameplay video.
EA started publishing Focus games on the Origin platform and the two publishers seem to have a working relationship. I am not far from the thought to vote for giving the ME and DA IPs to Spiders and tell them to "go nuts".

You should read Daniel Vávra's blog about large dev teams. He's Kingdom Come Deliverance game director and writer (the game had 1 writer). The blog is illuminating about what is wrong with AAA development...

What is interesting is this is the same kind of video they did with the Technomancer, same strategy to show off the choices in-game, but the choices in Technomancer were mostly very surface.

I was just wondering as I didn't like that I HAD to buy it on Steam, there was no other choice that I was aware of. The last two games I have bought, Assassins Creed Odyssey and MEA were available on disc so not sure about publishers stopping doing it, however I bought them through Uplay and Origin because its just easier.

Some more VO news: Lord De Sardet is voiced by Jamie Blackley. It seems a store in NY broke street date, going by their twitters. That means you might see spoilers popup now. MEA had no PC disc version in the US/Canada (a few countries in Europe had it I think). It caused a lots of complaining back then. I suspect ACO is similar, I don't remember a physical option when I bought it on Uplay. Although, Focus limiting the game to Steam is a bit annoying, but none of Spiders games seems to be on GOG, despite Focus having a few on the platform like Vampyr and The Surge. I wonder if it's up to the developer.

I can only comment for Australia but MEA definitely had a disc version here and AC Odyssey definitely had a physical version (DVD) but from what I have seen on Steam it was pretty limited and maybe just Canada but the people talking didn't state where they were. And there was a physical copy it looked like on the German version of Amazon. The people looking for it online want it mainly because they have terrible internet connections.
