Plus the nickname Green Blood seems odd... It never even occurred to me that that had something to do with the malichor. I just figured it was Kurt feeling very clever at having merged "greenhorn/green ears" and "blue blood" into one nickname. Initially I thought he just was using it as a joking slightly derogatory nickname due to his inexperience.

I took it that way at first too, but then on my screen everyone with Malichor has black coloring and De Sardet's marks are green.

I thought that too, but now I'm even considering Constantin "my fair cousin" to be sarcasm...lol edit: Replaying the start, I just realized that the painter try very hard to not mention the mark but keep referring to it (striking face, your peculiarity, etc).

Good point, I am guessing this is linked to Iakus comment above about his suspicions which I have now about De Sardet's heritage because it looks a lot like one of the natives face markings Not only that: My de Sardet has on two separate occasions been told he looks like a native

My male De Sardet: Desalin. (named after Jean-Jacque Dessalines). Trying to come up with a headcanon as to why both my my mother and my cousin are white as snow. Please tell me there's no lore that makes De Sardet genetically related. I'm going go with he was adopted into the royal family. Yeah... Just certain jarring things that remind you this is still AA jank, because Bioware atleast tried and was somewhat successful when it came to family resemblance. Constantin is the son of the second wife of the Prince D'Orsay, who is your mother's brother. Mommy mention that we looks very much like our dad who we have no idea what he looks like. Yeah the sentence given by the mother told me everything I needed to know to make sense of that, + the fact that indeed Constantin doesn't share the same mother. So no need to headcanon for me, just going with a metis. Too bad there aren't scars or tatoos, I like scars. Well, I should really have time to play tomorrow.

So is it worth a buy? Right now I'm playing RDR2 online because of the new update. Though this game is still on my radar. I seen the reviews and they are pretty decent. From your prospective, what are the pros and cons.

I do wonder if it's a clever way to explain how De Sardet can use a disguise and pass up as a native while infiltrating villages or a traditional "surprise twist" plot point. Maybe both

So is it worth a buy? Right now I'm playing RDR2 online because of the new update. Though this game is still on my radar. I seen the reviews and they are pretty decent. From your prospective, what are the pros and cons. Disclaimer - I am just 10 hours in the game.
Cons:
Its an AA title, which shows in some ways as in lip sync, somewhat dated facial animations and the occasional asset reuse for buildings.
Companions and their interactions are not as fleshed out and expanded like in some classic Bioware games - it's better than KOTOR, Jade Empire and ME1 (maybe MEA too), but not as good as DA2, ME2, or DAI. (disclaimer - my subjective opinion, please don't start with "ME1, JE, KOTOR has the best comps evah!")
The combat is not flashy like in DAI, but if you find your build, it can be fun.
Enemy variety is ok, but I can guess that if you explore a lot and move back and forth through areas, the encounters might start to feel repetitive.
You don't get much filler dialogue options, so don't expect to be able to interrogate NPCs for everything about their whole life.
Pros:
The game is pretty and filled with details. The atmosphere is definitely a big plus. Exploring really feels like exploring, unlike DAI. There are many areas to visit and they are not so annoyingly huge to make them feel like a chore.
It is absolutely a story driven experience from start to...well, 10 hours in so far Reminds me a lot of KOTOR and DAO in that regard. Voice acting is top notch - it's often so good, even in side quests, that I'm surprised. The story itself is interesting thus far and it keeps building up. You can definitely tell the story was the main focus of the game.
And while we are talking about side quests - they are great! Each one so far has it's own story that unfolds along the way, often with twists! The experience overall is like a good detective adventure. You will do a lot of crime solving. Another great thing is that each quest offers a variety of ways to solve many of it's steps - you can just go in with brute force, or pay, or use Charisma/Intuition/Science/Vigor, or use stealth/disguise, or craft an item, or lockpick a chest, etc.
The game is going back to the roots of many classic RPG mechanics with it's multiple stat checks (I love stat checks). There doesn't seem to be a wrong way to building your character, just different options. You won't have the points to take advantage of every stat check opportunity, but this won't lock you out of an experience, because of the multiple paths you can take. If you are not Charismatic enough, you might have enough Science to get the information you need yourself or enough Intuition to bluff your opponent. Or your Vigor is high enough to traverse otherwise inaccessible places and sneak in through the back door.
The factions in the game give you the opportunity to play a diplomat (skilled or a terrible one) and I find this to add well to the RPG experience. The option to disguise yourself and infiltrate otherwise inaccessible faction controlled areas is a nice feature that not many games offer.
You get more than one companion quest for each companion and those often evolve into more than what they initially seem. I have to say it again - the quests in this game are done with a lot of effort and love. As I am a sucker for good side quests, Greedfall wins an awful lot of points in my books.

Not sure if it's really spoilers (literally about a minute after the tutorial prologue) but Siora's introductory comments about how you "look" sounds foreshadowing as hell.

I played too many Bioware games to not notice this one from the start Spiders is not afraid to learn from the (former) best. "What if we undertake to train this one and the Dark Lord returns?" Well, Vrook, you certainly are a Master of foreshadowing. "I see a weakness in your fighting style, but it's so subtle as almost not there" - every NPC in Jade Empire.
Wait till you get further in the main story. There are even more implications than you might think right now. I like the build up and hope the conclusion/plot twist meets the expectations. If my suspicions are correct, not a single faction will like it.

So, I'm getting the impression that people are generally happy with the game so far?
Would you recommend it to someone who couldn't keep going with The Technomancer past 10ish hours due to the writing and the voice acting? I found the combat there fine, nothing special but I didn't hate it either.

I found the combat there fine, nothing special but I didn't hate it either. It's a MASSIVE improvement over the Technomancer in every aspect. And that is ESPECIALLY valid for the story, writing and voice acting. Voice acting is right up there with the best Bioware has offered to date (just my opinion). There is the occasional slip up in some dialogues (writing feels off for a sentence or two), but it serves to show how solid the rest of it is in comparison. If we rate Greedfall as a 10 (it's not, but for a comparison purpose), then I would say Technomancer is a 6.5 or 7 at best.

Lots of Dragon Ages (any games) voice actors in this, including those of Dorian, Blackwall, Arl Teagan and Grand Cleric Elthina. Lydia Leonard (Lana in SWTOR) also voice a bunch of characters. Lots of British TV actors who never voice acted before, but probably did a lots of stage work. My guess is that they used the same studio in London that BioWare use.

I think my game is broken. I'm supposed to report back to Constantin but he is nowhere to be found. I also tried to finish the cargo quest (I think) in New Serene and the person I needed to report to wasn't there either. And yes, it was day time when I checked their quest location but they just weren't there. I think I need to start over, lul.
