Greedfall

Yup! It's the perfect place to grow a thicker skin and learn to stop taking the dehydrated and mentally exhausted late-night typing of people you've never met about things that don't actually matter personally. Heartily recommended!

They are taking their time with it. That's usually a good sign for Spiders. They seem to have rushed Steelrising and apparently it shows.

It's mostly Jehanne Rousseau explaining the things you enumerated with some lore recap.

The native and "colonists" in the trailer are from a new tribe and a new country that were not in the first game. 

Greedfall 2 expand the setting a lot going by what they said in the twitch stream (which I didn't all watch, I got to work, lol). We will visit multiple countries and different biomes on the continent. It's also a parallel story to the first game set on the continent.

And they are doing EA because they want feedback on the changes they are doing to combat since they never did that type of combat before (i.e. giving us more control of the party members, it's not turn-based Jehanne was clear on that point).

I was surprised they said we're getting EA for the game, but I suppose I understand why. I will most likely buy into since I'm glad to be getting greedfall 2

Combat changed a lot from the first game. It's DAO like RTwP now.

Agree with the post that the first games combat was fine, and that an iteration of that would be preferable.

I personally do not prefer the "let me pause whilst I get my white together" style. Too disjointed for me.

I much prefer individually programmable squad tactics a la DA2.

Will still probably play Greedfall 2 nevertheless, I did enjoy Greedfall 1.

Both DAO and DA2 were RTwP with programmable squad tactics. These aren't exclusive, not sure if Greedfall 2 will have programmable squad tactics thought.

I made the mistake of going straight from Ghost of Tsushima to a fresh Greedfall New Game while transitioning from a Shogun binge to Outlander, after eventually tiring of the greatsword combat in an abandoned playthrough years ago.

Everything about the game is like nails across a chalkboard after elegantly slicing Mongols like hot butter with perfect timing for a few months. There's almost nothing that doesn't feel ridiculous and clunky. I shrugged and only half-agreed with the 'jankiness' talk when the game came out, but holy shit. Will try to go to Fable 2 for my Colonial European vibes, and then maybe come back later with lower mechanical expectations, because I really want to get back into the story if I can. Totally up for playing with the guns and traps and some dexterous rapier action this time.

Also, I downloaded it for free on the PS5 after originally preordering it for the PS4 when it came out, and now no preorder bonuses? What the hell? The flaming rapier was a ridiculous starting weapon, but I really liked some parts of the outfit, and starting out with a cape.
