And I am thinking I will try to stop the trend of being the nice guy in my 1st runs and go medieval on the local people. Diplomacy is for the weak! Fear my gun and sword, infidels! But I suspect somewhere after the first 1/3 of the game somehow my bigotry will be put to the test. It's always that one romance option that ruins a perfectly good evil power trip. Or that one good romance option can send you on a evil power trip. The things my HOF did for Morrigan's approval. I killed Wynne in the Tower in my first playthrough. Just because she insulted Morrigan. Just saying... And millions of bored-out-of-their-minds apprentice voices suddenly cried out in relief, and were then silenced. Also saved Loghain a lot of headache after joining the party.

I like Wynne ...never killed her, well except that one time I defiled the ashes with her and Leliana in the party in a BadDecisions playthrough... I got minor chills watching the companion trailer. That's good or bad chills? I personally think Focus has been doing an awesome job with game marketing. Which means the game is super presentable otherwise they wouldn't have anything to show. Unfortunately, that's not the same thing as being a good game, but it's a good sign.

So I passed...A life for something like a +3 Approval with Morrigan seemed a fair trade
Then in my second playthrough I was nicer (chasing Leliana's pants) and Wynne suddenly joined me in the Tower, so I was all "wait a second, lady grandma, valuable group space you take there..." Then after that she joined permanently and I was WTF...

IGN has footage of the game shown live with an interview with Spiders CEO. I expect the interview to be "extracted" later today. Someone will be happy to learn that there is a nice 1 inch beard option for male de Sardet. Also moustache and side burns.
Oh and the game has climbing similar to TW2 it seems (i.e. in specific spot). First time, I see it.

Gamekult impression of the game (it's a video in French). He played previous Spiders games and was anxious about the combat, but ended up liking it. He's quite happy with less HP bloat and avoiding combat via dialogues or stealth (stealth works better than in Technomancer according to him, he used it to bypass enemies after freeing some prisoners). He liked the writing/dialogues and graphics/art style. His negative is that the game isn't a pure open world despite mentioning that Spiders is 30 people so you shouldn't expect it anyway...

Seems like he doesn't like the "Bioware-map design" (even DAI/MEA and Anthem use it, just with larger zones) that Spiders is using, as their previous games were all like that too, but GreedFall seems to have much larger areas and a bit less corridors (I'm pretty sure the city approach shown in a recent video would fit all of Mars War Logs)...or he's saying that because "open world" wins you brownies points with the mainstream since 11/11/11. Personally, I like my open worlds and my "Bioware-map design" games, but I have totally different expectations from both type of games.

Hmm. Disappointing how the PC keeps slashing with swords obviously better suited for lunging and poking. That's always been a pet peeve of mine. Hope that isn't the case with the game's bayonets and spear-like two-handed weapons too. Nothing stupider than banging a monster with the side of your spearhead without ever using the point. Otherwise looks promising. And yeah, the open-world thing is a bit overrated. If they do corridors and open areas well then that's always been more than enough for me. Also avoids Wild Hunt's terrible system of letting you run into enemies who are arbitrarily deemed too powerful for you to mess with in the middle of nowhere in areas where you're otherwise quite comfortable engaging the local wildlife. Smaller, self-contained leveled regions make everything much simpler.

Bah. I've played through each Souls game at least twice. A few minibosses scattered around the map don't scare me. That isn't the same as a group of bandits or drowners identical to every other you've been thrashing in the area inexplicably taking hours to kill because someone decided they should have red skulls above their head for... reasons? Difficulty spikes are fine. Immersion-breaking variations in enemy toughness that justifies itself by pretending you're suddenly punching above your weight when you obviously aren't... isn't. My single biggest gripe with Wild Hunt is the ridiculous mess they made out of leveling challenges. And equipment, for that matter. I seriously doubt Greedfall is going to handle it half as badly, even if they're poised to fall into some of the same traps.

This game seems really promising. I'm a fan of the Renaissance aesthetic, too, not a setting you see very often in RPGs. Honestly, the only exceptions I can think of are Pillars of Eternity and to a greater extent Arcanum. Given the developer, it's liable to be more of a AA game in terms of polish, but I'm perfectly okay with that, I have played some janky-ass shit because I enjoyed aspects of it and this looks far above the par for AA games.

I played mars war logs and bound by flame and loved them. Though they had more then a few problems. This game however looks alot less indie and closer to something a big studio would make. Trying not to get my hopes up but I have to say the game looks great and if I heard right it won't be a short game. I just hope it has decent combat or great combat. Any news on romance scenes?
