I really was looking forward to hanging out with Vetra before the game and romanced her with my Sara. So it pains me to say that I found Vetra underwhelming. She had fewer things to talk about than Cora, because Cora at least had gardens and asked other people questions while in the Nomad, but Vetra pretty much made every conversation (Tempest or Nomad) about how hard it is caring for her sister. I wanted to hear her opinion about the Genophage or her outsider's perspective on the Turian Hierarchy. I wanted to hear stories of what it was like being a merc or at least some amusing anecdotes about Sid as a child. For all the talk about "my sister," I don't think we got much insight into Vetra or Sid's personalities or history. Everything was "it was tough, but I won't go into details." No, we needed details if we weren't allowed to talk about any other subject.
In the romance scene, Vetra breaks down and says "You care about my sister, you care about me -- not for what you can get out of me." This just seemed to come out of left field. I hadn't seen anyone else using Vetra for what they could get out of her, nor had she told me stories that would give me insight into why she feels this way about the world. Also, for someone who is advertised as the person who procures things, we never got a hero moment where Vetra secured something for us that we couldn't get on our own. I wanted her to pull some shady contact out of her bag of tricks and get that motivator or small spacecraft or disguise or something. Instead she asks Ryder to get snacks for movie night. Me: "Uh, aren't you the person who knows where to get things? I should be asking you for snacks!"
I'm super glad Vetra was available to both Sara and Scott and am really grateful to Sheryl Chee for that. I just wish she had more time to show other facets of her personality.

Vetra: Mediocre, mostly because of wasted potential. Here's a sketchy smuggler working on the fringes of the law, and she's so meh. Tough in a fight, for sure (pretty much her and Drack were my standard party), and devoted to her reckless sister for sure, but how is this leveraged in writing? Endless sister talk with Cora in banter, bleah. A lot of what made Reyes interesting was his sketchy criminal ways -- I would have liked to have seen similar scheming from Vetra.

Wished there was more talk about Vetra herself rather than Sid. Otherwise okay.

Like others have mentioned, I was extremely disappointed by Vetra's lack of comments about hardly anything. I took her along almost everywhere, convinced she had to be one of my favourites. But she NEVER said ANYTHING EVER. I legitimately thought there was a glitch in my game that silenced Vetra or something. But, when she did have a lot to say, it was about Sid. I also don't recall any memorable banter from her either which is a bummer.
But, out of everyone else on the Tempest, she did come off as more mature and I did like that.

I liked Vetra.....I liked her somewhat non-chalant attitude, but with her i felt like i could depend on her to get things done. She seems like she's a bit cold and slick, but deep down i could see she's a bit of a softy and that she hides that part of her through her skill set of espionage and theft tactics. I always got a decent conversation out of her when i went to talk with her and it was fun making her blush when Ryder would flirt with her....
I liked how she too cared for her little sister in her loyalty mission....Drack and Vetra stayed with me the majority of the time in the Nomad and on missions.....nicely written....

I was quite disappointed in Vetra...I don't hate her, but I found her... lacking. Ok, no "tipical turian" because "reasons", so what did she gave us in excange? What part of alien visual have given us this "outsider" background? well... from what I played (two complete run, and one started to romance her), little. I felt she was written without a "Turian" background mostly to not have to dig into Turian culture. But there was nothing put in its place. Yeah, life is hard for a young girl with a little sister to take care for. Ok. I get it. Cool. And... what else? What actually got you live outside Turian culture? Why do you have markings if you aren't born in Turian culture, since the markings had a meaning for Turian, the colours and drawings where a sign of the colony/place a Turian is born? Why do you and your sister even had some in the first place?
Maybe is just me being too attached to the ME1 world build years ago, but these things are very important to me. Are what make an alien race an actual civilization and not just different body models to make the game feel shi-fi...

I thought the markings denoted the colony the family came from. Did they come from different colonies? Different families (i.e., were they half sisters)? Also, IIRC there were apparently 30 colonies and there were more than enough colony markings in MET to account for them all. I don't see why the MEA designers thought they needed to create new ones. That was work hours that could have been spent elsewhere. link to silentstephi's Turian colony marking database: silentstephi.com/?page_id=83I'd be happy to see Vetra back again if there is another MEA, I just want her character more fleshed out.

I voted subpar. I was really looking forward to her character but she ended up being very boring. She ended up being more one dimensional than I expected, but there were flashes of what she could have been.
I still like her character, I guess I just set my expectations too high.

Generally speaking, I enjoyed Vetra. As one other poster said, less Sid conversation would have made her better but I enjoyed having her with me in a fight and liked that she knew how to get things done.

Another thing that bothered me in MEA was Garrus's father not having the same markings as Garrus... it was that much work making the same mark?!?! it was just a texture!!! in a video!!! just use some video from ME1-2!!!

Subpar. She's just a discount Garrus. I’ve seen this criticism a lot, but after going through the bulk of her dialogue, I don’t really see the similarities beyond simply being a turian and sometimes mentioning that. I think overall Vetra is OK, but I think her rogue-ish smuggler background could have been played up for fun a bit more. Too often it was about Syd, which is understandable to a degree, but bogged her down.

I dislike how she was written to be squeaky clean despite being a smuggler/mercenary. The only time she's ever called out for anything is Liam arguing that Sid shouldn't have been brought to Andromeda, which is a fair point, but unfortunately Liam sounds more like a scarecrow than a voice of reason in that conversation.
Does she have any flaws? Being too perfect?

Vetra was one of the most likable characters in the game for me, but that's not really saying a whole lot. Huge missed opportunity, most (if not all) of her dialogue on missions was bland and forgettable, which is made even worse by the fact that she rarely said anything in the first place. That said, I did find her romance to be the best of the main squad members and the most interesting part of her character. However, as with the rest of the game, her romance is underwhelming overall despite providing some of the character's strongest moments.
Overall - Mediocre. I really wanted to like her, and my knee-jerk reaction was to go with Good, but that obviously changed the more I thought about it. Out of all the Tempest crew, Vetra is perhaps the character I was most disappointed with, simply because I had high hopes for her (as opposed to the rest of the crew, who I had no hope for going into the game).

Pretty meh. Had some descent moments but in the end...mystifyingly enough... she just did not get the same time or development as the other companions. With everyone else they got their own mini tasks which really fleshed out their characters but Vetra didn't. Kind of like Liara in ME 3 but at least Vetra had some personality to back it up.

Slightly above average, like somewhere between mediocre and good. I liked her character overall, but I agree there was some missed potential with her. She could have been an all time great. I think they should have scraped the whole smuggler thing, and just left her as a more renegade Tali from a personality perspective. I din't mind the whole sister thing, although it was overplayed. It was still slightly less annoying than Cora/asari.
