Hello everyone I'm a little overwhelmed by how fast this thread moves but I used to be able to keep up so maybe it could happen again. Regardless, I look forward to at least lurking on your awesome theories!

okay.. it's terrible to me because it really squicks me out kinda. so the idea is about dragonsblood right? dragons are unusually resistant to the taint and can stem its spread within their own bodies by growing cysts around blighted flesh. though they cannot do this indefinitely, this is super notable. imo btw this "indefinite" thing refers to high dragons (most common 'powerful' dragon in the setting). great dragons are more powerful and more ancient [see why i mention this in a second]. there's all that hoo-hah about the power in the theirin bloodline. qunari belief is that calenhad theirin drank the blood of a great dragon, gaining strength that made him undefeatable. some of that power was passed on in the bloodline (Flemeth's request of Maric shows the line still has power in the blood). a great dragon's blood, not a high dragon's. is the theirin bloodline therefore resistant to the taint? merril also purified a mirror with blood magic, and didnt avernus extend his life through blood magic? we got blood power against the taint all up in here. fiona was pregnant with a child of the bloodline. biologically a mother and her fetus's bloodstreams interact in pregnacy don't they? consider how warden alistair in inquisition isn't off in search of a cure for the calling the way a romanced surviving HoF is. sure, he doesn't know he's resistant to the corruption, consciously, and any cure the HoF finds she'd surely share with her beloved, and he's occupied/distracted by the Corypheus thing, and he can hear the song like all wardens can at that time, but.. I dunno. she's off trying to cure herself of her taint and he seems .. subconsciously less worried. cause he's resistant. theirin bloodline in fiona's pregnancy cured her. maric's magic spunk. You and I are of one mind my friend. crack theoy, i'm sure someone can pick it apart. i don't really know how she was cured. maybe the architect/amulet juju

You and I are of one mind my friend. crack theoy, i'm sure someone can pick it apart. i don't really know how she was cured. maybe the architect/amulet juju I know. It's been speculated a lot and your thoughts match mine. I still think (until proven wrong) Mythal's death was due to her blood being special and the other Evanuris wanting more lyrium but were afraid of something found in the Deep Roads used it to protect themselves from the taint. This is also apparently when Solas decided to head off to Skyhold and create the Veil (hinted at being in the Undercroft). He said what happened to them was fitting and I wonder if he means being trapped with the taint in the Black City. It's things like this that will make me really angry if Solas is just another big baddie in the next DA game. I refuse to accept that!

You and I are of one mind my friend. crack theoy, i'm sure someone can pick it apart. i don't really know how she was cured. maybe the architect/amulet juju I am fairly certain that all Wardens on that expedition were affected by an accelerated taint, including Fiona, because of those amulets the First Enchanter at the time gave them. Except Duncan for other reasons. But I'm not certain if she became pregnant before or after .. I think it was after? I'm getting the timeline from the book jumbled in my head. On another note ... who the HECK thinks it's a good idea to have sex when you're tromping around in the Deep Roads. Well of course Maric does but we already know he needs a good smack in the head. For one, the Deep Roads are a fairly dangerous place. For another, if you're camping out there's not exactly a lot of privacy. Hey baby let's get busy in a place where pretty much everyone else in our group can hear us or possibly see us AND for a bonus we could get attacked by darkspawn at any minute! What a turn on, am I right?

Doesn't he say that after making love to Hawke he started to get his memory back? Was it touch or something that caused it? I forgot. Sex: Boosts the immune system, eases stress, increases affection and love towards your partner aaaaand now it retrieves long term memory! After short term amnesia! Woah, sex cures a lot of stuff for some people!

Pretty sure that's the theory on how Fiona was cleansed of the Taint. If it's true, and I love that theory, btw, it means that Alistair somehow has something going on with him that makes him able to sense darkspawn and hear the calling without being Tainted. Did Maric have this, does anyone remember? But I wonder if like the dragons, Alistair's body is creating tumours trying to rid itself of the Taint and maybe that's why it's so critical right now for my Queen to be off looking for something to save him. Oh my good lord, this is distressing to me because I love Alistair so very much.

technically it's not the sex or a magic wang that cured it really, it's sharing a bloodstream with a theirin bloodline baby.

A study was once conducted on a wooden bridge over a canyon by an attractive assistant and she got nearly every guy's number who answered her survey. Given that Wardens also seem to live by a,"seize the moment,'cause we're all going to die" maybe they've perfected the quickie moment!

I don't recall Maric having that julilla. I reckon being a Theirin means Alistair can have the 'benefits' (okay, powers -like sensing the darkspawn, won't call them benefits exactly cause he still gets the bad dreams and can hear the song and stuff) of being a GW indefinitely til the end of his Normal Natural lifespan without ever beginning to hear a true (non-Corypheus induced) calling. Alistair iirc is the only Theirin in the lore so far to have gone through the joining right? so it's not as if there's a database of knowledge of what GW Theirins are like in-universe.
I think Alistair would actually be fine but just doesn't know it. maybe in x amount of years he'd begin to wonder and question why he hasn't heard any Calling yet. I'd be more worried about your queen. borrowed time, no resistance. needs to find a cure.

What's also of note is that Wardens are supposed to be, in essence, infertile ... or the chances of conceiving a child are so low as to practically be zero. And yet, Fiona managed to get pregnant. I think you may be onto something though.

oh iirc in the lore a GW and a non Warden can have a baby but it is less likely due to the GW's taint, but still possible (FionaMaric) but two GWs cannot have a baby cause 2x the taint.

On a serious note though, what is "dragon's blood" anyway? What does it mean? The Qunari story seems ridiculous to me, but it also doesn't make sense that there was a literal mating of human and dragon. I wonder if this is one of Ghilain'nain's weird experiments? And I do think it's going to have meaning later in the series, because it's too important that someone was cleansed of the Taint. It reminds me of the cleansing of Old God Baby (ies). There's something here with big implications for the Thedas, I'm sure.

Duncan was either immune or the effects of the amulet was hindered because of the ebony dagger he stole from First Enchanter Remille.

There's something here with big implications for the Thedas, I'm sure. Reavers gain powers from drinking the blood of high dragons so maybe the story isn't quite so far fetched? Not sure really. I really would like to see how the qunari were created though. Edit to add: Of *course* we want it to be magic wang, who wouldn't? On a side note, the phrase "magic wang" is not one I thought I'd ever use. So, thanks! =p

You know you want it to be magic wang, don't lie! Reavers gain powers from drinking the blood of high dragons so maybe the story isn't quite so far fetched? Not sure really. I really would like to see how the qunari were created though. Yes but they aren't said to spread that down through the generations either, right? It's simply a one-off for Reavers. I think that's one of the things that makes this whole Theirin dragon blood thing so weird.
