Btw is 'Salos' an in-joke or a typo?

*Le sigh*... another one who didn't heed the sign on the door. Oh I knew it was going to suck. Lieeees. People are never ready for teh feelz (gah, just my luck, the thing I linked to before broke)There was a pretty ridiculous rumor spread around last year about DA4 being called Dragon Age: Retribution, where Solas is calling himself and being called... Salos. Dunno... to hide his real identity or something? As if he didn't have an already well-established monicker ... It was all super weird - you can read about it here: bsn.boards.net/thread/13334/dragon-retribution-leak-discussion-thread

While Solas has mastered lying by omission, in the game he clearly demonstrates that he is *terrible* at telling outright lies, so it might not be far off the mark. ;D

The only way I could see the whole idea of him acting the way he does and calling himself is either a.) it's an impostor b.) it's some sort of 12-dimensional chess he's playing where he sells himself as OOC as possible for some reason c.) Weekes got bored of Solas and being the lead writer for Bioware and handed the task of writing to stoned intern

Well... it IS an option. We can agree with him and/or express worry that he suffers alone on this path. Thing is that he doesn't allow Lavellan to join him. And why should he? Even in the main game he tries to shield Cole - somebody he expressed to care about - from following him and warns of fate awaiting him that he says he wouldn't wish on an enemy (and he's the guy who sentenced his enemies to eternal torment!). So I don't think it's that strange that he wants to spare Lavellan the pleasure of experiencing the same thing he does.

He's taking it all on himself which is irritating. Seeing my strong, world saving Inq suddenly turn into a sap was a little galling.

Well, uh... we can go circular with this argument and ask what about Solas's choice then? There's a fundamental disagreement there and Solas *was* the one in the position of power through that whole exchange on multiple levels - not only Inky was exhausted from cutting through an army of Qunari Assasins, not only they were on the brink of death from power only Solas could stop, but Solas is also in possession of knowledge we simply do not have. We weren't in a position of asking or making demands, really. I think Inkys are justified in being in something of a vulnerable position back there, pretty much entirely on the mercy of Dread Wolf, and if he denies Lavellan option to join, he can totally do so. I guess the main question is what Lavellan/Inquisitor is going to do about it *now*....

He dictated everything from day one and my Inq has to face the fact that she never had a say in anything. But she still loves him. Urgh.

Well, it WAS the time in the narrative to establish the Dread Wolf as a credible and powerful foe. I don't think however that it's fair to view Solas and Lavellan's relationship through a lense of just that. It's not a normal, down-to-earth situation either of them are in and it's not just about their relationship, but fate of the whole world. Nevermind that I think Solas would just think of Lavellan less if they actually went with him. A savior of the world and a trusted leader following the one who seeks to destroy it? Leaving all their friends and family behind? Someone has to fight on Thedosians' behalf and Inquisitor is uniquely qualified to do it, since they have at least some inkling about what's going on. And if Solas wanted to, he'd show just how much power he holds over Inquisitor... just by not doing anything and letting either Qunari explode and raid the South or let Inky be exploded by the Anchor. Yet he went out of his way to help Inquisition deal with Qunari, saved their lives and shared the outlines of his plan, thus opening a window to act for them.

Doesn't mean I can't whinge about it, and dream about it, and look at fanfics about it, and make voodoo dolls.... no okay that's too far.

Though it would be nice , I'm not holding my breath for the return of the inky as the main PC. I don't know if I'd be able to handle the Inquisitor as an NPC only (or, maker forbid, not there at all). I need closure between those two! Bioware, PLEASE!

Otherwise your choices with both protagonists might end up conflicting or seem pointless (why spare someone as PC1, if PC2 will kill them later in the game?) or the game makes one character more enjoyable (so you are bored playing as the other), as well as giving you less time in general to play as both.
I would still like the Inquisitor to return in some fashion, maybe similar to how the advisors, Morrigan and Hawke were utilised in Inquisition. Working from our hub in a background/offscreen capacity (providing contacts, war table missions, etc) and perhaps joining us as a temporary companion on a questline.

So long as my Inqy gets to keep her happy ending with her LI then I'm all good 😛 Thing is, BW can be quite a sadist if they wanted to I literaly waited to see if there are some nasty surprises and purposely made Ali a king in my world state to avoid that fade thing with Hawk. I mean, damn. No. I sooooo... never want to face that kind of situation EVER 😛 and yes, I don't mind being called a chicken for it. Honestly I prefer to have IQ show up a bit, at least during crucial moments so s/he could have a proper 'final moment' with Solas/Fen'Harel. .. And feel the gut wrenching pull of emotions wether he's your friend/lover or that satisfaction that you trully beat Fen'Harel.

I'm hoping we do have a dual protagonist, because if we don't, then I'm going to be chapped all over again that I couldn't join Solas.
