Long time no see, all! I had to drop in because I nearly had an aneurysm over the teaser hashtag and hearing Solas' voice again! I also am going to sit here and peek in on what you all theorize from that new piece of art because I'm way too excited to critically think about it yet. I can't wait to be back in here and frantically watching every single tweet, leak, and piece of news about this game! When it gets into full pre-game swing again, at least, which is hopefully soon. I'd start analyzing right away, but somehow all I can hear in my head right now is still some variation of continuous AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! |

Looks like there's a structure to the left of the lyrium idol's circle. Int eh flames. An eluvian maybe?
Well, there's a burning, leafless tree on the left there (may be relevant because there's a definite tree motif connected to elves/ancient elves) - not sure about the grey thing. But... GUYS. Look at the ring around the idol. There are 7 half-circles there - 5 are greyed out and two are golden with a star in it. 50 BUCKS THOSE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE OLD GODS/ARCHDEMONS. |

Me earlier this year: I still love these games but at this point it's been so long that it'll take a lot to get me excited again. Even a DA4 announcement probably won't get to me too much.

I'll admit, I'm going kind of nuts right now reading too much into the orbs, Solas's shiny head, the sun? behind him, the scorched tree/Thedas and every other brush stroke in the painting....I do love right before a game comes out though and everyone starts throwing around crazy theories. We've been pretty starved. |

Would make sense then if the half-circles represent the old gods: five past blights, two to go. Solas also reacted rather strongly to the idea to kill an archdemon before a blight to stop it from happening. But where is the connection between the old gods and ancient elves? Could be they were worshipped long before the Tevinter adopted that religion, but that doesn't explain how the Evanuris fit in. *confused* |

I dunno why, but I wanna meet him too? lol I just feel like the guy could be interesting.
And as for the old gods = evanuris, that's never been confirmed. Its a theory some people have. I personally don't think so. Tied to the elves somehow, yes. Are the elven gods, no. Might be the Forgotten Ones. Might be something that predates the elven pantheon. We have old forum posts by Gaider saying the cult of the maker predates Andraste and the chantry, so the old gods predating Tevinter or Elvenhan isn't out of the realm of possibility to me.

I knooow, all that fire and the sun sphere gave me Elgar'nan vibes right away, and I thought that's who the figure was at first until i zoomed in scoping out stuff and was like ...oh that looks just like Solas' beautiful bald head. ps- hi monkey! ive missed ranting about Deadfire with you  |

You know, even after my two play-throughs I still haven't gone back to replay it, even after the DLC released. I was so busy and stressed for these past months, that when I would start up a new game I couldn't get into it or finish it, or even discuss gaming all that much. I now have at least five more new games, I haven't touched.
This dragon age teaser got me pretty excited though, so maybe I'll be able to rave about something soon.

The Evanuris are likely not the Old Gods, the numbers and associated attributes don't add up (which could have changed over time, but still). They were already locked up by Solas by the time the Tevinter magisters corrupted them. Unless the Golden/Black City is the place in the Fade where they were held in the first place and the magisters got there anyway... hmm. So far I thought Solas created the veil to stop the Evanuris from whatever they were planing (something with the titans?), so tearing it down would bring them back into the game, even if that is not his actual goal.
