I was being facetious about his motivation, as a spoof on the reason people seem to give most often for wanting to stop him. "He just wants to wake up any Elven that may or may not still survive." It seems like such a shallow read on his character and flies in the face of the hints we'really given about something fundamentally wrong with the world of Thedas throughout all three games. I love that the staffs of Freedom and Pride are both what we call puppy staffs in my house. The sheer number of such little touches keeps me going back through all three games to see what other hints and foreshadowing I missed along the way! Sorry for not catching that. I agree with you completely. A lot of people just want to hate him because.... they love hating characters I guess? But he and his motivations are so complex, which makes him such a delight. In all the games I ahve romanced the character, who specifically told me not to do it... I guess I have a type and will have an easy time choosing my LI in the next game

Well I guess "Salos" could be some new name he took for himself and we just don't know the translation of it yet. But. What? Kind of upends all the careful subtlety he was given in DAI. I guess it could be sensible? In context? Maybe?

Maybe he's related to Talos? Are we getting a Thedas/Tamriel crossover? That might be interesting...

Anyway, just in case someone takes this leak too seriously, one of the devs working on DA decided to - coincidentally - rant about leaks... Emily pentapodOne of the hardest things in 10 years working in games has been learning NOT to call BS every time someone posts a crazy "leak". Because... ..if you do that ONCE, even for the most batshit insane stuff, then every time afterwards you do NOT, it will be seen as "confirmation!" Some folks deliberately post ridiculous stuff waiting for denials so they can "catch" devs this way and claim everything NOT denied is true Plus, any topic that gets a dev response will spawn 10x more posts hoping for same, and suddenly there is no time to actually make games. 😢 It's unfortunate it works this way, but it is what it is. Another good thread about similar topics: LINK

One of the tidbits that has been bobbing around my head revolves around the Void.
Creating the Veil hid the Void from the "real" world although it sounds like it was once a (well-hidden) place within the Veil-less known world, or at least accessible from it. Was it a pocket universe, like the Crossroads? Was it created by the Elvhen or just another part of the natural order? Will it again be reachable if the Veil is removed?
It's referenced so many times but it still feels like there isn't any concrete information about the Void in the lore.

I think the Void is one of the far reaches of the Fade or possible the mirror image of the Fade, so it could be an alternate universe. Clearly in elven lore it is a place since Andruil is said to have gone there with very bad consequences for herself and her followers. It may well also be the place known to the Dalish as "Banal'han", the "Place of Nothing", where they believe the Blight originated from. Enough evidence there to suggest that the Blight was around long before the Magisters stepped into the Golden/Black City.
I also have a theory that Falon'Din may have always known how to get there and would hang out there a lot. "Falon’Din had no fear of the night and would walk where the People could not live." Of course it is possible that this simply refers to the Fade as even in ancient times before the Veil the majority of people couldn't just enter the Fade in their material form, so couldn't "live" there but I do wonder if in fact it was the Void. If the Fade is the source of all life, then its opposite, the Void, is the place of death, decay and ultimate annihilation, so you become nothing.

Y'all sillies.
On a completely different note, what do you guys make of Fenris? His general character has been a bit of a ? for me since Trespasser. Not because it doesn't make sense or anything, just that he seems like such a Solas-prototype. Elf, wolf motif, escaped slave who likes to blab a lot about freedom. Murders people in vengeance during his personal quest. Breaks up with the protagonist. Actually comes back.
I mean, apparently Fenris was even bald in original concept art (Concept Solas' hair must've escaped to his head.) Obviously, we can assume that he's intended to "prime" the audience in a certain way, upholding that theme of slavery and freedom which ties back into Solas. But it just seems like there's so much overlap. To the point where I feel like there's some plot significance to it, but Fenris is such a tangential character that I don't see him coming back in any big way. Maybe he was supposed to be more important, but got swept under the rug along with everything else from DA2.

Maybe he was supposed to be more important, but got swept under the rug along with everything else from DA2. Fenris was our foot in the door for Tevinter. He gives a perspective from the wider reaches of Thedas, and makes very explicit the corrupt nature of the Magisterium. Could be priming us for DA4, more than anything. They made sure to give Fenris ties in both Seheron (he was born there, and also fought with the Fog Warriors there, for a time) and Tevinter where he may yet still have a sister. He also has an ability called Lyrium Ghost. This leads me to believe he will return eventually, regardless of his fate in DA2, as Leliana can come back as a lyrium ghost in DAI if she was killed in DAO. Does anyone think his redesign from WOT2, looks like hot-weather guerilla/commando gear? Maybe he'll return as a soldier fighting for Seheron's independence, or battling slavers, or, possibly, supporting Solas in inciting an elven rebellion in Tevinter.

Salos, eh?
Preeeeettttyyyy sneaky. Nobody would ever see that coming. Also, I'm confused if "armoed" means armored, or armed. Because a ginormously armed Salos is most likely very very dangerous to Lavellan's booty. A single pinch...devastating!

Maybe he was supposed to be more important, but got swept under the rug along with everything else from DA2. Well, the same could be said for Anders and Solas. Fighting against oppression. Willing to go to any means to achieve them. Can be very kind, compassionate and selfless, yet extremely vengeful. A heavy sense of morals and focus on freedom and equal rights. Will lie and deceive in order to get their way. Fond of spirits. No offense to Fenris (sorry Fenris lovers), but his story arc is about HIS punishment, HIS suffering, HIS revenge and HIS freedom. He doesn't really give a damn about anyone, but himself unless they are directly in his path. Also he thinks small scale and short term. Solas and Anders are the other way around. Yes they have some backstory, that influences them, but when they speak and act it's about other people - it's about their people. Everything they do is in larger context - which is how they justify the deaths they cause. Anders: Blows up the chantry and sacrificing some, so that in the long run more mages might have freedom. Solas: "Blows up" the world, to restore his people so they are no longer enslaved, poor and so they can have their freedom back. Solas and Fenris do have some things in common, but I actually think that Solas is much more like Anders, than he is Fenris.

Paralells. Paralells. We do know that there were very intentional ones between a lot of companions/Inky, but considering that they've known at least the basic directions where they were heading, they likely began putting in parallels in earlier material. I mean, Hawke also shares some parallels with Solas.
