My husband has seen me cry over Solas. He's good, though, and says quietly "Sorry, honey." and then he shakes his head like "that's how emo she is." Sometimes he gives me a hug. My husband is a keeper. LOL I won't let my hubby see me cry over Solas, but he's a sweet guy and wouldn't be a jerk about it. He probably would shake his head too LOL. The keepers are hard to find

Welcome, friend. We feel your pain. I originally made an account on the old BSN to get some support from our little group here. I had no where else to turn. While I can't say it helped with the hellspiraling, it certainly made me feel a lot less crazy. Here's a tip: Try to get your gamer husband to play through the Solavellan romance himself. I convinced my husband to do it on his first DAI play-through, so he totally gets my pain. YMMV Not even interested in playing the game at all. He's a Halo gamer, and I'm trying to get him to check out Mass Effect. *sigh* someday LOL Welcome! We can at least offer support in not feeling too crazy! When I romanced him I had just been out of a relationship with a guy who actually looked a lot like Solas and thought "I'll just get me some nice DA romance to take my mind of things" (oh boy was Solas the wrong choice) Happily I came across this thread of cool ppl that filled my head with fun theories and gorgeous fan art instead of feeling crazy I was more upset over Solas than my real life X

"Beware the forms of Fen'Harel!". We only saw his "humble" guise version. He was holding the beefed up sexy elf god in reserve.

Bioware romances are much like real ones, think of the time in terms of hours played and years spent waiting between games... Trespasser was so excellently done... I want to continue my Inquisitor's story in the next one as her, with new and old companions...and of course conclude the Solas/Fen'Harel plot.. I want an happy ending, but Bioware does bittersweet so well...gotta love tragic romances..

I'm not a canon Solasmancer, but when I listen to all the Solavellan romance Game music videos on Youtube, and I think about the character I did create for him, I get mildly sad. That's the closest to crying I can get for the egghead. I wasn't originally going to make Solavellan my canon for DAI, but it pretty much cemented itself as such once that damned wolf stole my heart... even after he stomped on it a few times and threw it into the Fade. And while it didn't make me cry, I did experience extremely manly sadness during the break-up scene. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Extremely manly sadness... is that an euphemism? No, but it definitely sounds like one now you mention it The sort that leads to wild declarations of "YOU'RE TEARING ME APART, SOLAS!"

Why is Solas suddendly transforming into a party animal at the Halamshiral quest? And why that ugly hat? I took him to Halamshiral for the first time and after they announced him as the 'manservant of the inquisitor', I expected him to be a bit angry or so. But no, he goes in total party mode and doesn't have a care in the world ... kind of strange...

Why is Solas suddendly transforming into a party animal at the Halamshiral quest? He enjoys court intrigue and suddenly finding himself in the thick of it excites him to a point that he's forgot himself a bit. He's like someone who's on a long, strict diet and was suddenly presented with a cup of delicious hot chocolate No idea. Probably because his shiny, unadorned head would stick out like a sore thumb among Orlesian crowd. Why would he be angry? Solas likes avoiding attention and mentions more than once that palace servants see and hear a lot of things (to Inquisitor and them in banter with Vivienne). He even mentions that he would prefer to wear something even less flashy, so he would look like an actual servant, which would enable him to more effectively blend into crowd and hunt even more information out. He seems to relish on the idea of being wolf in sheep's clothing, unnoticed and ignored until it's too late or he gets what he wants, so that's all very Solas'y.

Also, the hat has a partial mask on it (which just clips through his head so you really can't see it well ). I saw someone hypothesize that he's mocking the Orlesian Game with it. Or maybe he's just actively participating? When in Rome, and all that.

The helm description may shed light on why Solas wore it. "The Drasca were an order of warriors formed in the ancient Anderfels to resist the Tevinter Imperium reconquest in -535 Ancient. Renowned for their whirling blades and skill with the bow, they were brutally hunted by the Imperium until the last members fled into the Blasted Hills of the south. Rumors persisted that the Drasca continued on and played a part in the Anders rebellion against Orlesian rule following the Second Blight, but if that is true, they subsequently drifted into obscurity once again."

Actually I like the Drasca idea. I doubt that very many Orlesians would be aware of the history of the Drasca, so it would appeal to Solas to wear something that honoured a rebellion against Orlais and laughing inwardly at their ignorance of the symbol.
It's funny but I was offended on his behalf that he was called a mere manservant but in hindsight I can see how he would be amused by it considering who he really is. I could almost see him thinking "I fought mage gods who would eat you for breakfast, so sneer all you wish, when I drop the Veil the last laugh will be mine". I mean it is hardly surprising he found all their plotting and intrigue entertaining considering how futile it all is in view of his own plans.

Or at least not ONLY that way.

Whether or not it's actually supposed to be one of those helmets or is simply a reuse of assets, I do not know. But it wouldn't surprise me if the choice of that helmet look was on purpose.
