Yeah, you've got too many syllables in that example you gave. It's 8/8/11/8/8/11/8/9 to fit into the Hallelujah cadence. You've got 10/10/12/8/10/19/9/8. I just have no rhythm. lol What is this "rhythm" of which you speak? It is foreign to me and therefore frightening.

I was on a road trip today and listened to one of my old fave Canadian bands, The Tea Party. Their TRIPtych album has a pretty good song for Trespasser Solasmances. ^-^ Gonebroken moments in time could still shine but they're getting old if you could see this world with my eyes you'd be so surprised at what you know
so, if you see my angel of light with her sweet wine could you let me know because i think she's gone again
fatal are these moments of trust that please us and who would know helpless in these passions of life now strife won't let me go
so, if you see my angel of light with her sweet wine i think she needs to know that i've gone again i'm really gone again i think i'm gone again
fatal are these moments of trust that please us and who would know helpless in these passions of life now strife won't let me go
so, if you see my angel of light with her sweet wine i think she needs to know that i've gone again i'm really gone again i think i'm gone again
so lonely And for all the Solasmancers who imagine Solas dying in their Inquisitor's arms in a fanfic or sometime in a future game, here's a song for that. These Living Arms so a crowd has gathered around us i'm pining one last kiss struggling with this lifeline in the shadow of this bliss patience my love patience my love it'll all be alright
ain't it funny how the fates work i feel cheated by the turn but this love it hovers over us and the lessons that we've learned patience my love patience my love
with your arms around me you're singing softly and i fade from memory and move on
we were lost inside a wasteland of fools groping for the gold i wonder if they'll think of us while they're searching for their souls patience my love patience my love
with your arms around me you're singing softly and i fade from memory and move on may nothing harm you i'm still inside you with my wings around you
so never put it out my love the spirit is the flame that burns within hold on to it and it'll all work out fine
sleep now is descending like a dream still i'm shaking from the softness of your skin hold on to me love and make it all feel alright
with your arms around me you're singing softly and i fade from memory and move on may nothing harm you i'm still inside you with my wings around you
with your arms around me you're singing softly and i fade from memory and move on
sweet lover go on sweet lover go on our love be strong

Hey there, thread! I was just skimming this page so I could interject with my greeting when I glanced through ladyiolanthe 's post. At first I thought poetry was being shared it took me a second to realize it was Solas's dialogue. I think I notice Solas's rhythmic speech in the back of my mind, but it never really stands out until someone points it out and then I'm taken aback by how much effort went into the lines.

I was only adding a few other of Solas dialogues that D,D & D missed. It is really amazing that Patrick Weekes put all that effort into it, though.

It's been a many months since I've posted in this thread. I'm trying to get back into MEA, but I'm once more feeling the itch to hang out with the Dread Wolf for 120+ hours. I'm actually afraid to catch up on recent posts, since I'll almost certainly abandon my MEA PT. Weekes' extensive efforts in regard to Solas' dialogue really is impressive. I definitely recognized that Solas has a distinct cadence to his speech, but I was clueless that he actually is speaking in verse. In spite of my verse-deaf ears, it adds an "ancient air" to his speech. I imagine that was part of Weekes' intent. Thanks for linking, ladyiolanthe.

I've played DAI so much my friends were about to do an intervention. I really liked MEA (issues notwithstanding) but with no single player DLC in sight - just more multiplayer crap - it seems almost pointless to keep playing.

My latest playthrough has been sadly interrupted by DAI/Origin client breaking so badly I had to phone EA at least 7 times and had them replace my game key at least 4 times to fix it. Needless to say they were flabbergasted by the amount of hours I've sunk into the game. "Wait, how many hours did you say you played!?" (I'm also pleased to say that the customer service I received did score quite a few positive points for EA from me). It's fixed now, but I'm in the mood for replaying whole of DA now and since it's going slow and in spurts, I'll likely replay the game in next few months.

I, too, have had a very good experience with EA Customer Service. I'm glad they're getting that right, at least. Agreed, @elassara. I'm having a hard time becoming, and staying, invested. I completed four PTs after release. The fourth was a bit tiresome for the final 50%. Now, after a brief time away from the game, its weaknesses seem more glaring. I completed the OT so many times that it's difficult to fathom. I can still replay the DA series with great pleasure. I don't think MEA will be the same. It really needs some DLC to round out the story a bit more.

^ I also did, a while back, when trying to get into Mass Effect. I'd bought 1&2 on Steam but could not get my key to activate. Nor did it work when I tried to use it on Origin (which seemed weird 'cause a key's a key, right?). Anyway, EA Customer Service looked up my key and manually entered it from their end so that Mass Effect could work for me on Origin.

I finally managed to get invested in my current MEA PT. I am actually looking forward to visiting Havarl, again, for the first time since May.
Once I'm finished with MEA, I'm thinking about tackling the entire DA series. It's been a while since I've played DAO and DA2. I only completed Awakening one time. That could keep me busy for a fair amount of time. It would be interesting to experience the full series once more, this time from a place of far greater understanding. DAI really began pulling back the curtain on some major truths.

So, here's a question for this lovely thread group:
We all here love Solas (unless you're just viewing this thread out of some other interest, in which case, hi!). We've shed many a fan tear over his tragic relationship with our Lavellans. But. Buuuut. If you, through the powers that be and imagination, were transported to Thedas during the Inquisition timeline and this was a non-Lavellan play through (if you have one) and this setting was less game-y than the actual game (no you can't jump onto his desk from the library or Leliana's abode)-- do you think you could or would be compatible with Solas like your Inquisitor creation is?

The best part of that time is how the forum comes alive with speculation and discussion. DAI is unique, for me, because I hate the actual gameplay, but I love the story and setting very much. I know DA's gameplay will never make me happy, but I still highly anticipate every game, novel and bit of info.

I'm a straight guy who is often into the Josephine-type. I'd have really liked Solas as a friend. He's intelligent, wise, compassionate, and shares great stories-- all reasons he rarely leaves my party, and then only for brief, specific purposes. Any friendship would be cast aside of necessity when he revealed, "I like you, but you and your world must burn." You can't let a friend kill the world. I'd still be willing to "redeem" him, if possible, but that would be a secondary objective.

I think a non-Lavellan has every reason to think he's a snake at the end, TBH. I know there's a lot of sentiment about wanting to kill him, but he really hasn't done anything worth killing him over...yet. So I think that's anger about feeling betrayed, which is justified though a bit extreme. Yeah, he caused the whole Corypheus shebang and claims to have raised the Veil. But my non-Lavellans are skeptical of everything he says now. The ones that liked him want to help him extract himself from this situation if they can, but aren't averse to taking him out if need be. My Lavellans OTOH, it's much more difficult.

Oh fun! But no, not even close even though I find him interesting and awesome, he'd be pissed at me 24/7 for not wanting to get hopelessly lost the fade, being freaked out with spirits and having no interest in touching anything magic with a 10 foot pole, since I'm not a badass rouge assasin I doubt I'd be as ok with Solas interests as my Lavellan was, in fact if it was me in DAI I'd probably be a backstage strategist who romanced Cassandra or Cullen and if at all have a polite but distant relationship with Solas where I'm fascinated by him and all his knowledge but mostly stay out of his way LOL

I know DA's gameplay will never make me happy, but I still highly anticipate every game, novel and bit of info. I agree so much! This forum, well its past incarnation, was what got me on to the more social aspects of the internet. Before this I just got into YouTube comment debates I didn't realize what I was missing in my life until I found the forums. Obsessive nerd fans brought together by the common love of something wonderful! I found the original forums only a few months before Inquisition's release (I needed someone, anyone, to share my elation about Inquisition with) and it honestly took me completely aback when I realized just how alive and large and devoted the community of fans were! And I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this now, but I was a closet nerd back in pre-Inquisition times and I had some ignorant assumptions about what most Dragon Age fans would be. I remember specifically being surprised by the amount of women that played and obsessed over DA, the ages of the people on the forums (I often felt too old to play video games and love video games like I did before I found the forums where I realized I was one of the younger forum users), and how close and familiar the community was (which overwhelmed me at first). So, here's a question for this lovely thread group: We all here love Solas (unless you're just viewing this thread out of some other interest, in which case, hi!). I'm a straight guy who is often into the Josephine-type. I'd have really liked Solas as a friend. He's intelligent, wise, compassionate, and shares great stories-- all reasons he rarely leaves my part, and then only for brief, specific purpose. Any friendship would be cast aside of necessity when he revealed, "I like you, but you and your world must burn." You can't let a friend kill the world. I'd still be willing to "redeem" him, if possible, but that would be a secondary objective. I think me as a person could only ever have a friendship with Solas. I don't think I'd even be attracted to him-- a lot of his attraction to me now comes from his relationship with my character. And I would probably react the same about his whole wanting to end the world thing. That just isn't cool, Solas. Even a Lavellan is justified in thinking poorly of Solas after Trespasser, I think. Maybe even more justified if they romanced him... Oh, Solas.

So, here's a question for this lovely thread group: We all here love Solas (unless you're just viewing this thread out of some other interest, in which case, hi!). If we're assuming I'd know about DA when I was dropped in, I'd definitely try to befriend Solas. It might work. I'm told I'm a good listener and people do tend to open up to me irl, so maybe I could get a friendship going. I'd try to involve him in group activities. I'd try to make sure we got to Wisdom in time. I'd also hang out in his study and talk his ear off. I'd definitely ask him a billion questions. I'm banking on this amusing him more than annoying him for it to work. I'm human, though, and Solas apparently reacts with disapproval to some questions humans ask him whereas he approves of the same question when an elf asks it, so... it'd be a possible uphill battle. But I know I'd end up being bffs with Cole cus I love that kid, and I imagine that would earn me some leeway. Maybe. lol I'd definitely try to worm my way past his defenses so he has one more connection to the world and one more reason to not tear down the world. I'd also try to work on finding the compromise I hope my Lavellan does and get the "Just this once, everybody lives!" ending. >_> Compatible in a romantic way, like my Lavellan? I mean, technically I guess I would be cus my Lavellan basically made the decisions I felt were right in the situation when I played her, so you could say she and I are of the same mind. But, if you have full knowledge of what's coming, you'd honestly have to be a bit nuts to willingly go down that road, imo. To be fair, love isn't always willing, but still. lol Friends with that baggage I can handle. Boyfriends? Not appealing. I'll walk a character through that kind of story and root for them to succeed, but I won't take that kinda risk myself if I know its there.
