Yeah was face roll on Ng+. On new game though without any powers it's brutal and fun as hell. The garrus mission when you have to go downstairs and shut the doors and the vorcha and krogan are rushing you. FML haha spent many Kate nights on that missions. Mass effect 2 is my most beaten game of all time. Think I must have completed it 15 times +.

From what I’ve seen the AI is crap. It feels like one of those games that only gets rough if you push yourself. Which is kind of like every mass effect game in SP so far. But hey my access 10 hours is coming up soon so I can test it.
Did you play mass effect 1 on insanity without immunity or sigularity? Or mass effect 2 on insanity without importing a saved character? They were very challenging. Also the AI on anthem on hard is fine. I found the small units pushing me and flanking me when I tried to take cover. Don't let some videos quite obviously to anyone who's played the game, played on easy tell you otherwise.
Um yeah I did and they were easy. Me1 was mainly tedious on insanity since enemies popped invuln and then took a bajillon shots to drop. The only risk was taking a stray missile or sniper shot if you weren’t paying attention. Me2 as long as you took it slow and steady it was easy. You could make it hard by doing things like using shotguns and melee on classes not designed for it. Which was my point. On their own not hard. If you push yourself for cool points they can be hard. Me3 mp was challenging but usually only on objective levels. And despite this being mp the levels and enemies feel more like me sp.

Oh god, that first month or so of mining in ME2 was brutal
For me personally I felt like Hard was a little too hard, with enemies being rather spongey. But it is a 300% damage and health increase and our weapons and gear weren't able to get up to an adequate level. I prefer to play through a multi-difficulty game as high as reasonable the first time through, but it seems like a first run through is gonna have to be on Normal.
That too me doesn’t sound like challenging level or AI design though. It’s the it takes forever so the odds you bone head something and get killed style challenge.

Yeah. I wish they had done a better job communicating how much is needed and how much is there. Once I knew I only had to scan rich planets and I’d get all I need at 150k or so after expansions it seemed less of a pain in the ass. Doable pretty quick actually.

I agree, the Diablo style "and then we doubled it" design of difficulty isn't great, but while it does work ok for dungeon crawling ARPGs it's abysmal for shooters. That said BW has said that higher difficulty levels are supposed to give the enemies some new AI behaviors to keep it spicy. Whether that's true or not remains to be seen.

People are weird. I'm actually pretty excited as I learned from your link (and this chart) that I have 2 more demo periods left... one this weekend, and then 10 hours with the game on Feb 15th. I'm pretty stoked for all the free time i've gotten/will get with the game.

They could clearly release the full game for everyone the 15th febuary. It's not happening. Why ? They just decided to gain a few more dollars with a predatory pratice. Don't you think that having different releases for the full game according to different subscriptions is absolutely ridiculous ?
Not even those who paid 80 dollars and pre-ordered are even allowed to play the full game once that day is reached. ( I have seen some who complained about that ) Who are those who could play the full game the15th february ? Those that have EA acces and pay even more.
Soon, you'll have those who paid 100 dollars for the ultimate edition and who have EA access, could also play the game two weeks before everyone, those who paid 80 dollars for deluxe edition could play the full game one week before everyone, and those who just wanted to buy the normal game will be the last ones and will just have to wait, like the peons they are for ridiculous reasons.
Of course I imagine in a game like call of duty with PVP, that would be precious, since those who would start before everyone would quickly get stronger than everyone else. I could see EA working to force these players with a competitive mind to spend more money on their different subscriptions just to have this game at the same time as everyone else.

I was just thinking today that I don't understand how this game took 5 years to make. Like they spent all this time just working on... what? The art and level design? Maybe just the actual gunplay. I don't see 5 years worth of actual game here. Like they spent all this time and then forgot that it needs to be captivating to play for more than 10 hours. Four javelins is honestly kind of sad. The ability list isn't nearly deep enough to keep people excited for long, especially when so many are really not very different from each other. And the weapons, jesus. That is completely inadequate for a looter shooter.
Guarantee Jason Schreier will do a deep dive on this and report that the game underwent a drastic reboot 1-2 years ago. Bet.

I assume it is too motivate you to grind forever. If you can kill enemies quick on hard, why grind for super gun x for 300 hours. If the game if compelling enough it’s not terrible. Though I never felt the need to level up and grind gear so I could do the same exact thing over again but on a harder difficulty. For me it’s if it’s fun I’m effectively grinding. My skill and gear levels up, so I eventually go to harder difficulties to keep it entertaining. Sort of the revere I guess of what they are targeting. I don’t grind gear to go on harder difficulties. I go on harder difficulties because the gear/skill level i got made it too easy.

Didn't pre-order, not trying open demo -- there's no point, I'm already sold on the game. I just don't have time to play it now, or even at launch. Busy Jan and Feb, sigh.

I'll try it again to see if it's better, namely mouse and keyboard controls and bugs. Few things grabbed me in the first demo and I want to see if they can improve. But yeah, no way I'd pre-order based on my initial experience. It simply doesn't do enough to stand out as an online game, and the story bits are anemic.

Well, I'll buy their whole: "with what's in the game now you can make a sh*tload of builds" line, because it's true. You CAN make a lot of different builds. But it remains to be seen if the limited amount of abilities and guns in the release game actually feel different enough for the long term.
I do wanna say: For me, personally, I'd rather have fewer abilities which actually do somethign different tactically, than 100 abilities which are all actually similar. How it feels fromt he limited demo time I got, this is pretty okay for the storm. Every ability is rather unique. For the ranger, not so much: it's either a grenade of something you shoot in front of you. I can't speak for interceptor or colossus as I haven't played them. But I've heard colossus is a one trick pony (flamethrower + lightning coil), and interceptor is fun regardless of what you use lol.
The same goes for weapons. By the time of mass effect 3, you had such weapon bloat (pistols that were also shotguns, shotguns that were also rifles, snipers that were assault rifles...) that they did not feel different. So currently I'm optimistic about how they did it for anthem: i.e. a couple archetype weapons, which are variated by rank (damage) and inscription. But! It remains to be seen if this is enough to please the masses in the long term.

Double same. Even if I was going to get the game (and right now, I'm not) there's no pre-ordering. I'd buy after release day since there are still unknowns - and there will hopefully be reviews that will cover some of those unknowns.

The never ending discussion of easy being too dang easy no challenge and hard being too hard because they are bullet sponges.
The issue is hp bloat hard isn’t hard. It’s just a gear up issue. Once you grind gear to deal with the bloat it feels like a easier difficulty. Which is why difficulty levels need to about more than bigger numbers. Hopefully their claims of better AI on hard are accurate.
