Having recently been re-starting my old City Elf, a really good credo for her came to mind:
"Sometimes, to survive, you have to be strong. But that doesn't mean the weak deserve to die. And it also doesn't mean the strong deserve to live."

Main Warden.

is a personal sentence tho, not in the game:

"Sorry Fergus, i will not comeback to Highever never again, besides of the bad memories and even if my last name still is Cousland, now i'm a Grey Warden, the Howe's family will still pay for all they have done, but the past has to be forgotten, i'm not a noble, i don't have and i don't want any privileges, i'm a Warden and i will fulfill my duty until the very end."

For my casteless dwarf Taena, I can quote another very well liked dwarven character: 'Well, shit'

My murder knife city elf, who has the patience of a bomb, at the beginning of every recruiting quest (elves, dwarves, mages and Eamon, not companions): 'Why do I even bother?'

Warden 1:

Human Noble Warrior - "All I ever wanted was a perfect world where no beggar went hungry and Loghains lived in peace with Alistairs. How did mabari droppings hit the fan so hard?"

I feel my first warden is a perfect example of how complex this game is because being a good person in Dragon Age world does not automatically equate to making good warden decisions. Yep, my warden had given charity to every beggar he came across and left no tree behind with a mewling kitten on it, but he also put Harrowmont on the throne because that dwarf seemed like an honourable character and accidentally turned Alistair drunk because my warden had the policy to allow people to redeem themselves if they showed remorse, which meant he recruited Loghain.

Warden 2:

Human Noble Rogue - "Just wrapping Alistair around my finger until a ring materialises on it." or alternative "Save the world? Oh sure. Just after Alistair takes off his armour."

Next, I wanted to play an elf and a dwarf origins for the story, but the desire to marry Alistair had won, especially since on my 1st warden I sort of shied away from romancing anyone.

Warden 3:

Dwarf Rogue Commoner - "Should I give a shitting Nug about some preachy humans or those angsty elven folk? Your Andraste didn't even have a beard to be a looker. Sod off while I'm introducing some blighted darkspawn arses to my golem army!"

Why should an uneducated dwarf, suspicious of everyone of a different culture, show an open minded character? It made sense to me that he messed up everything, except for the dwarven kingdom. There he deserved being made a Paragon and have Oghren name a baby nugget after him.

"For the honor of the Grey Wardens!"

My current DN stole her motto from Éowyn.

"The women of this country learned long ago: those without swords can still die upon them."

Brosca: "One day the poor will have nothing left to eat but the rich."

Have to think about it for my other Wardens, but for my canon Naliea Tabris it is definitely: "Touch my family and I'll kill you".

("Family" eventually includes Zev and the rest of her companions. She's a protective one... )

Never choose the easy path. Through perseverance, patience, and cunning, I will do what must be done.
