Heh, if they completely got rid of in game romance then "attractiveness of companions" becomes a much smaller issue (romance being based on attraction of some sort). This should lead to fewer complaints about pretty male or female characters. Meh not really. Some people just like looking at attractive people. Dragon Age Redesigned features an option that makes pretty much everyone a model, NPCs that you can't romance.

I hope DA4 gets rid of the quite visible makeup on ladies' faces.
My current playthrough has a "No Makeup" mod installed, and the game has never felt more realistic. You can actually see the faces behind the makeup masks (hi Tarohne), and it feels more in line with the lore. I cannot imagine Cassandra taking care of her eyeliner after a Hinterland bears experience.
Btw I have a makeup collection with about 80 lipsticks and 20 eyeshadow quads. And I know the struggle of maintaining it in perfect shape. Sports and a long exhausting day in the heat are its worst enemies.
Of course exceptions could apply during events like the Winter Palace festivities or relaxing back at Skyhold. I would certainly like to see how our companions change their outfits depending on location or even randomly - while I love Morrigan, can you imagine how old and dirty that top of hers would be? Even if it gets washed every now and then, they do wear out, so she would need to have a couple of those in her closet. And yes, maybe they're magically enhanced. But still, people do develop their fashion preferences over 10 years, so I wasn't overly enthusiastic about Morrigan wearing the same old outfit at Skyhold again. Was cool to see her in the gown proposed by Leliana in Origins.
Regarding how I think our companions are going to look like, I am quite sure they will have very distinct features again, like a unique haircut and facial texture (Josie, Morrigan, Cassandra, Sera).
We have not yet enjoyed a lot of blondes ladies except for Sera and perhaps Wynne (Morrigan, Isabela, Merrill, Cassandra, Josie were dark; Leliana, Tallis redheads). As we're most probably going to Tevinter, not a lot of blondes there, right? Here's my prediction of Calpernia being a companion in DA4 (and the unique hair & face texture applies). Then, of course there's Maevaris. I also think Olivia Pryde may be blonde, let's see how her role turns out in October.
Until now, Bioware followed the blonde sweet male - dark blood mage / tough lady pattern in three installments. I'm curious for both a continuation and breaking the tradition.

The primary female companions of the series seem to be cycling through the Fighter-Mage-Thief trinity. We should be back to mage now, which means it would make more sense for her to be prettied up, especially if she comes from more civilized beginnings than Morrigan.

I like how people are unironically using the sorceress from the Witcher as a standard of beauty. Even funnier considering how most of them are fairly putrid people. Likable in their hideousness, but putrid nonetheless

first of all i don't care how they look. secondly, when it comes to look i'm more interested in how badass their outfit is, but that's always secondry to their personality. and that goes for both male and female, not even sure why the topic is about female only (well i know why but it's a silly reason and i don't get it).

That's all I need to know. Good morning.

Just stopped in to say, whether it's DA, ME or Anthem, I want to see a schlubby option for men and women. Non combatants or companions. Doesn't matter. Maybe you fancy the heavier set woman who scrubbs your hideout floors. Perhaps you can't take your eyes off of that homely portly fellow who cooks food and has a great sense of humor! He has a skill (cook), and will be around to help raise your babies.
There will be many Lookers for sure. I can't think of an ugly romantic partner at the moment.
The more primitive side of me says, "how should the women look? Heaving breasts of course! hahaha drink down your ale men it's gonna be fun tonight!" Of course I'd give something to everyone, fifty different versions of Cullen mixed with Iron Bull for the ladies or whoever wants them. Never say I'm not generous.
Since this is set in Tevinter, or so it seems, I'm guessing there will be attractive people in fancy robe/jester looking clothing. Look at Alexi! Sure he tried to kill us and manipulate time, but he had that funny hood on his head and it made me giggle.
It's late and my strangest posts come out when I'm tired. I'll be back tomorrow! Thank you all

They can be pretty rancid too, especially to each other, but ultimately i enjoy both those characters and the sorceresses because they are beautifully written, despite being problematic. No character is perfect after all
