In 8 more months game drops and have to say, after Adromeda, my standards are set so low that Anthem can't be anything but a pleasant surprise. But more seriously, if the game could turn 3/4 as good as ME3mp, that could be near 7 years of supported goodness and community revival. After all, ME3mp has been out for near 7 years, would be nice to let good times roll.

Not at all. Got burned on Destiny 2, moderately enjoyed both SW Battlefronts, really liked Titanfalls and Division, but it too faded. Anthem will have to be really outstanding to make an impact on crowded game-as-a-service market, otherwise it will sink Bioware. near 7 years of supported goodness and community revival If you look at the average gamelife cyclus and expectancy of the games mentioned earlier, there's no way EA will support the game for more than 2-3 years... According to swbstats.com, SW BF 1 had 300 (!) active PC players yesterday and we're talking about 3-year old game. From what I gathered, it sold extremely well at first, didn't make quite the impact with dlcs though, hence the sequel after two years. Same story with Division (D2 will directly compete with Anthem at launch) and Destiny has its own share of problems - namely it costs unbelievable amount of money to get all extra content. I would really like to believe in everlasting dev support for Anthem, but 1.) either it will end after one or two seasons or 2.) it will linger longer, but gonna cost you a lot to stay on top and enjoy those fancy Javelin mechs.

No. Not at all. On the other hand I'm still interested if it turns out to be any good. Not being hyped and having low expectations is not a bad thing. You can't really be disappointed if you don't expect much but they could surprise me/us and maybe deliver an actual good game somehow and tha'ts great then. I have stated some opinions in the thread about them not doing a proper beta again here.

If not hyped for Anthem, what upcoming online games are you hyped for? Can't see anything until the next Souls game gets mentioned, therefore hyped for Anthem. It's that simple.

Personally I will play ME3MP till the last forgotten server melts somewhere in the basement of a corporate shantytown in Hydebarad.
Other than that, 2019 will bring plethora of potentially great PC SP games - Metro Exodus, Dying Light 2, Rage 2... Also Division 2, mp-wise..? We'll see how that one plays out.

Only mp games I've played are ME3mp, MEAmp and all the Souls games. Never seen any lure to other online games yet. Someone on PS4 wants me to try Warframe, it's finally downloaded and ready. And yay, ME3mp is still gold, but remember those earlier days where every new trinket from the store unlocked new experiences. Then even when we had everything unlocked, still lots of things to learn. But after 7 years of playing, there's barely any surprises left. This is why MEA was still worth the cash during those first few days. Now that I've finally a new rig to support newer PC games, might buy MEA from Origin this time around to experience it at 60fps (the low PS4 frames really hurt MEA being a faster game).

Not yet, but it could be good. I'm thinking improved ME3MP with story. Doesn't sound bad at all. MEA combat in single player was already another improvement and single and multiplayer being fully intertwined (i.e. there is no real singleplayer) has the advantage, that our character remains the same.
One reason why I had no motivation to play MEAMP was that a -> why grind again, if I have fully equipped ME3MP characters and b -> after being able to mix and match exactly how I want in MEA single player, why take that option totally away from MP again?
Those problems are gone in Anthem. Question for me as a single player focused player: will the story be good enough to lure me in? That is one reason why I didn't get as addicted as others with the Division. But maybe that is exactly the mission BioWare is on right now, to come up with the best combination of multiplayer combat and single player story.
That being said, the footage shown so far hasn't been that great IMO.

Interesting post, but come on, single player gameplay was the worst ever in a Mass Effect game. No contest.

Interesting post, but come on, single player gameplay was the worst ever in a Mass Effect game. No contest. In MEA? Nah, another improvement, a more refined ME3, the best yet. That game has other problems, but IMO combat is none. Surprised to read this in the Multiplayer section, because it is basically an improved version.

Completely and thoroughly unhyped for Anthem. DAInquisition was an unending series of fetchquests. MEA was repetitive buggy failsauce with MP designed only to take you money. Other people are making better Bioware games than Bioware. Even if Anthem is pretty good, there will be other, better, games to choose from. But hey, at least ME3 is still fun to play.

I think it's great - shooting mechanics, environment, sp story, emergent mp gameplay, Dark Zone, weapons variety... played it with pals, strangers, alone, always had a great time. You can have for 10-15 Eur nowadays, def worth a try. Battlefronts are great lookers and practically a must for SW nerds, but unless you're prodigal COD kid, you're gonna get hammered in MP with people running with them skillz and full manifests. Destiny 2 is, well... subpar. And prohibitively expensive. Beautiful planetary visuals though and satisfying gunning.

No. It looks interesting, but at best I have a wait and see attitude. I got MEA out of frustration. Trying to find a game in ME3 MP can be an exercise in patience sometimes. So I thought I would give Andromeda a try, $14.00, not a prohibitive investment. I was not interested in the SP, only MP. I wanted to like it, but alas, no. From the UI to the way the enemies will sometimes spawn right on top of you to the insidious 'micro transactions', I just don't care for it.I do like the blind fire as well as the option to shoot left handed; beyond that, nothing. So, for Anthem, it will be a long, very long, wait and see.

I have no interest in a Destiny/Titanfall clone. I did not purchase Andromeda because it holds no interest for me - along with fact that it was shown to be a buggy nightmare of badness.
I fear that the company that made ME1 and 2 is gone. ME 3 was a rushed travesty of a game that could have been the proper end to a trilogy. Andromeda took a really long time to make in terms of development cycle, yet it was no where near what we have come to expect of a AAA game studio.
So, we have established what I see as a trend of under performance. What also bothers me is the attitude of BioWare. They basically flipped off their fans after the backlash about ME3's endings and then later on shut down the BSN because the devs are trying to hide from the truth that they fucked up.
In Andromeda the Salarians talk too slowly and the Krogan don't feel Krogan enough to have been born on Tuchanka. There is too much of that SJW stuff in the game. I picked up the Mass Effect series because it was amazing and new and full of tons of cool aliens - it was my escape from all of the stupid political BS, which BioWare is trying to put right back into the games.
Will they get it right with Anthem? I'm not sure I give a shit.
