Yeah, I just never used it right. Some mechanics in this game are hardwired now, like reload canceling (aka instagelling in PuG matches lol), and others are situational for me, like power canceling.
I didn't realize the importance of power canceling the Acolyte, and that really makes all the difference. It becomes a reliable weapon, where otherwise you could get stuck in a bad place trying to reload and get stunkocked. (<-- intentionally not fixing that misspell, it is funny to me)
So, for a guy that has soloed Gold on most of the maps with most of the kits, soloed Plat three times, and curried endless PuG matches to undeserved cash rewards, I am just another scrub still gitting gud.

Ha! Well, my fellow scrubs, learn the ways of this scrub  Load a Bronze solo. Equip Acolyte with a kit that has a power (tip: that is most of them lulz) Fire Acolyte 3 times, when you see reload on the screen use a power. During power usage, gun reloads automatically. Most well-known with Biotic Charge, but it works with all powers. Also, once my recent Plat solo is available for viewing, I will point out a few spots in the time code where I used the gun properly, and a few instances where I fell into old bad habits. |

If you do not use a power, reload animation is normal slow. Using a power, it cancels animation like a regular medi-gel cancel.
Infiltrators can do this with TC, just one of the many reasons they are broken OP for team play. Feneckus was always right |

If people can't do that with acolyte and a generic power, i suggest trying the "easy" mode, in order to understand how it works. Claymore (or executioner) + Flamer. Fire the gun and immediately use flamer. Wait some tenths, and you'll hear the weapon "automatically" reloading during the power animation, ready to be fired again. You can try that with almost every power/weapons combo, the timing will be a bit different between them. For example in some cases you have to use the powers immediately, in some cases you have to wait a bit more in order to have the weapon reloaded during the animation. |

I knew it under the name "reload hiding," but it's all the same. As vastator said, the easiest way to see it for yourself is with flamer because you can control the duration of the power, so you just wait until you hear the reloading sound, stop flaming and resume shooting. It's the primary reason I use the flamer on my Vorchas at all. Reason #2: fire boom. If there's a third reason, I don't know it. Never did manage reload hiding with TC, but then again I find it antithetical to cloak just after shooting. To the poll: always room for me to get better, even when I was at my best in this game. |

Try reload hiding with TC on a Wraith SI. It is all about the rhythm of course, and then you are cloaked and can immediately proxi or shoot or shoot proxi shoot, since proxi will work after a shot most times. Get all the things under cloak bonus forever. Works with other guns, Wraith is just a good example. |
