Do we know if we'll be able to name our different Javelins? I was thinking of going with Galahad, Launcelot, Percivale, and Merlin for the Ranger, Colossus, Interceptor, and Storm, respectively. Maybe we can name our setups/loadouts, at least? I kind of want to be able to have a unique identifier...outside Helios969...to go with my "unique" look and build. Though you raise a good question. I certainly hope they will have quick swap profiles for each Javelin so we can easily setup for certain mission parameters. I could see that sinking quickly into tedium otherwise.

Game Informer: John Warner Podcastwww.gameinformer.com/exclusive-podcast/the-game-informer-show/2018/06/29/answering-anthems-lingering-questions- In traditional BioWare style, you won't always be in agreement with your crew. There is potential for conflict. - Drew had a good impact on the game, though he was never the lead writer. - Coming up with the name "Anthem" took a lot of work due to the sheer amount of copyrighted names out there. "Javelin" was on the list of alt-names. - You will be able to see your character's face in the GUI. - While they toyed with 1st person view in the environment, they opted to go 3rd person as seeing your javelin flying was more impressive. - An example of an Event could be... a giant migration of creatures. He mentions "Irsics" (or something like that), which are gigantic, ape-like, insect creatures they apparently haven't shown yet. Another example might be a giant storm. - Mini-games and activities outside of combat (my question!) - TBD. - Brand new cast of voice actors. I wonder if that might have been due to the VA strike. - Daily / Weekly challenges. Sidequests. Repeatable quests. - Scaling damage to allow LL & HL Freelancers to play together. - Again emphasizing the verticality of the world. - Javelins: Different personalization pieces (helmets, gauntlets, etc.) can be added, but don't offer any statistical difference, just cosmetic. Things like Armor stats are based on the type of suit and the perks you take as a Freelancer. - No need to to return to base to "repair damage" to your Javelins. They experimented with that and found it was just too tedious. - There are sniper rifles in the game... for now. - Melee attacks are Javelin-specific, so no range of melee weapons to pick up. - Storm Javelin: Light, agile, and deals a ton of damage. - Ice damage will cool Javelin jetpacks... but it's still damage. - No upgrades for the Strider (at launch at least). - No upgrading your LL weapons to HL weapons. - They want you to have reasons to continue tinkering with your suit & gear to meet different challenges. Diablo 3 was mentioned as something similar. - Look forward to arguments over uber-builds... - There will be some Raid-like content in the Elder Game that are not Strongholds. - Customizable HUD. - Next look at gameplay will be in the late summer. We'll learn more about the Interceptor then.

I'll just add that story-wise it seems that we'll be 'new to this area/region', and thus being newcomers in Fort Tarsis. From what Jon said it also seems that we won't have many 'conventional' cutscenes in the game - they 'won't be taking camera control away from us'. That means that we'd be observing scenes from FPV rather than watch cutscenes on the screen.

Not just because of the effect, but also because it severely limits the language of film with respect to direction. Think of all the emotion and drama that comes from the right camera angle, zoom in, pan, shot/reverse shot in cutscenes from ME or DA. And what do we get in return for giving up all those tools in the toolbox up? But it sure af makes the VR port easier! Yay?

It really is looking more and more like a game I'll be passing on.

Kinda weird having cutscenes in 1st camera while you are playing on a 3rd one.
Well, i better watch the video.

I didn't say we'll have ALL cutscenes from 1st person - just that we may not have many conventional cutscenes in the game, especially concerning SP stuff, which will happen predominantly in Fort Tarsis and thus in 1st person.

I saw the video. Think of it as giant but dangerous fauna migrating to another location (ie: North America Buffalo).
Getting caught in it while on a mission can be dicey. Aren't you glad we can hover abilities? Hm... can we have trophies in this game?

The excuse for this is better involvement (personal).... closer to a NPC and thus you can have better relationships with them. I personally find this camera angle to be impersonal / cold and unable to attach myself to a NPC character. It reminds me of Skyrim. Thank God it allows me to play in 3rd person.

The studio wanted to go all the way to 1st person... even in combat.
I still maintain this decision is a cost cutting move. Especially for additional content development. This game falls well within the FB3 capabilities.

You think anything they do is a cost cutting move. You're really starting to sound the the preventable broken record. ::sigh::

So? Are you saying that them considering FPV even in combat means all they thought about is cost cutting or porting to VR? ......Even though they ultimately decided to go 3rd person when in Javelin?

The studio wanted to go all the way to 1st person... even in combat.
I still maintain this decision is a cost cutting move. Especially for additional content development. This game falls well within the FB3 capabilities.
So? Are you saying that them considering FPV even in combat means all they thought about is cost cutting or porting to VR? ......Even though they ultimately decided to go 3rd person when in Javelin?
I don't know about VR.
Notice, from the interview, that the studio went to 1st person combat first. ... found it was colourless, and devoid of any attraction from the play testers = who wants to play this crapola? Really, Bio was forced to scrap that idea.
As to "all they thought about is cost cutting" I'm of the opinion that the answer is in between. If you look at the FIFA franchise, that game requires very little modification to go from FIFA17 to FIFA18 to FIFA19... Making Anthem similar would be a god send. Think post end-game play, monetization schemes and added content development costs. What better way to reduce costs than by reducing the number of cinematic cut scenes?
Be as it may, this game probably will stand on its own and think of the next 10 years of Anthem food with little variations other than new maps, new enemies, new daily, weekly, monthly events, high score trophies, a new javelin class, a new wqeapon(s) but remains basically the same..... = reduced costs for development.
Makes sense to me.

Nathaniel @nathani92941785 Last time I ask this, I promise. Is there a chance that when we aim down the sights of our gun, we could get the reticle from a first person perspective? I'm fine with the third person perspective for most things but it would be nice to have first-person ads.
Mark Darrah @biomarkdarrah Actually it might already do this
Q @futurefigments seems like it would get annoying if it were from every gun
Mark Darrah @biomarkdarrah Only in tight aim and only certain guns
