any word on different types of melee weapons the javelins will have I believe they've said that each javelin will have one fixed melee weapon/attack and that you will not be able to change it (at launch). I think it was also mentioned, or at least implied, somewhere that the interceptor uses a sword/knife.

It would be pretty cool to equip a melee weapon as an AoE damage multiplier when you do a superhero landing.

I hadn't heard that. The only thing along those lines I remember is a mention that the colossus has a ground pound-type AoE melee attack as one of its abilities (it's listed on the official EA page for the colossus). I assume that ability is unique to the colossus and is not the same as the standard melee attack.

They did say that there is "air melee" … don't remember the specific tweet and am WAY too lazy to find it … but air melee is a thing.
Which I like a lot.
And divebomb melee is pretty cool too (Krogan Gladiator says hi).

However, since the devs have already confirmed mid-air combat is not a thing, I'm wondering how this will work. Is it just a less awesome version of the colossus groundpound? Can you fly into someone and in turn send them flying and/or tackle them to the ground?

The dev said that wouldn't do anything for you, wouldn't damage a bad buy, but said "air melee" was a thing. I think the mid-air combat comment was about shooting other things in the air ("air-to-air" mode or "dogfighting") as opposed to shooting things on the ground (air-to-ground mode). In air-to-air parlance, air melee would be the proverbial close combat, i.e. knife fight … and what is a sword, but an overly large knife?

Hrungr posted a nice synopsis of all the information from the panel on the twitter thread. Really interesting for whoever didn't watched it. Agreed, although I am hoping sometime soon or maybe around launch time developers will provide a little more clarification on these hot topics: PVP: Balancing is an issue.. I’ll agree, but give us an area or something where you simply go in with whatever javelin you are piloting and the starting equipment ONLY. Sure you won’t be able to show off the fancy weapons you have earned but hey your javelin should be a testament to how you are as a player not the weapons you use. Maybe level will be an issue? Don’t want a lvl 10 against a lvl 32. Perhaps there could be Lvl slots so that only lvl 30s can play against lvl 30s etc etc. With everyone using generic starting equipment and only able to fight people on the same level spectrum as themselves. It should be possible to have PVP. Social/Player hub: I like the idea of single player hubs like the Fort... where you get to carve your own single player story driven adventure but..... and for me this is a big buuuttttttt... I would hope we would get a social hub. Something similar to the tower in destiny. I feel that the social hubs give us a chance not only to boast and show off our achievements with a rare skin on our javelin or whatever but it also gives us a sense of awe! When you walk up to a javelin and marvel at the adventure the player had to go through to get that legendary rifle, skin, or even gear item it reminds us of what we are playing for... so I definitely feel that some kind of Social Hub for Online is the way to go. Sure it can get over crowded but hey that’s why there are servers. Keep the social space limited to 30 and the people that want to be with their friends will obviously join their games. I would hate to only see 4 live javelins at a single time. So I hope this is something that is looked into. The Devs are working hard to make sure these machines are perfect. We should at least be able to show them off.

Um Anthem has no PvP.... Unfortunately not at launch. During interviews, staff members leave it vague as to whether or not they will look into the concept. I hope they do. Balancing no doubt will be an issue but I feel if they work certain perimeters into place along with limiting PVP to only starting weapons it should be feasible.

Well I hope they don't otherwise you'll end up with US vs THEM mentality between those that want to PvP and those that don't (I'm looking at you SW:TOR)

To my understanding, leader-boards will be put in in place for missions and Strongholds to encourage friendly Squad Competition.. kind of a "Who can beat what the fastest and best way" kinda thing for bragging rights. Also, timing and efficiency during missions will give way to greater rewards.

Given the initial trend for these "long haul" games it will come in the form of updates, new areas, maybeeee PVP. I highly doubt we will get a new story driven DLC so soon.. maybe late 2019 early 2020.

Elder game content continuing the story from where the "vanilla game" ends being dropped via those live updates mentioned in some interviews. PVP i think will still take some time.

I thought this was worth calling out: Going back to the Fort Tarsis stuff for a moment, I think it's interesting that there's no content gated behind making the right narrative choices in single-player. What was that like, streamlining the narrative stuff?MD: What I want to make sure is that this is a game that appeals to a different audience than what we've seen before. It would be unfortunate if [players] were to run into a full on conversation wheel like from Mass Effect or Dragon Age and just hit full decision paralysis. Just go, 'I don't want to make the wrong decision.' It's interesting and can provide an interesting experience, if you're ready for it. ... MG: Yeah, I mean the other way to put it is you can tell a great story with agency and great characters without something being a full-fledged RPG. Which is what anthem isn't. www.usgamer.net/articles/anthem-pax-west-interview-new-details-live-service

From the way the question was phrased and not disputed: no content gated behind making the right narrative choices
So, no matter what you "choose" things don't change. You get the same content ie results, no matter what you pick.

That's not what's stated there, be it in a question, the answer or the article the question is formed around. Even the quoted article states clearly that "characters will grow and change, but only in your personal little universe" ergo in and around Fort Tarsis. At best it's stated that missions won't be gated no matter of the relationship with the character, which is not the same as 'you get the same content no matter what you pick'. Our choices won't have big impact on the world outside of it - which we have known for a while now - but given that Fort Tarsis is one of few existing hubs where human civilization is possible in a world that (according to devs) can contain whole ME universe in one Shaper Storm I'd say that being able to influence Tarsis - on which most of SP story will happen - still counts as our choices having an impact on the narrative. We don't know the extent of them, but we already know they will happen, because the devs stated multiple times that our SP hub is where we will shape our narrative experience and - and I paraphrase - 'see the consequences of our choices'. And if there are consequences to choices then you don't get the same content as a result. Also - in their answer, they clarified that Anthem won't have as complex branching choices as ME and DA can have, but they're hoping that Anthem will actually prepare audience unfamiliar with such playstyle to more complex decision-making in the future... how else to prepare them than to offer some form of branching narrative?

Missions stay the same but the context concerning the mission will change based on choice. Example: "Freelancer I know you don't like the Sentinels but we gotta save their ass again." vs "Our friends need our help, the Sentinel convey is trapped between a rock and a hard place". Same mission, different context which will accompany different dialogue choices down the line. During my personal story I may disagree with a faction and the dialogue during a mission and Fort Tarsis will reflect that so anyone that joins my missions will see that side because those are the choices I made in "my story". The same can be said if I join someone on their mission.. they may have opened a completely differently dialogue tree compared to me so I get to experience their story from their perspective. I hope this makes sense.

So, choices don't matter? Why have them at all, then? Just make everything auto-dialogue. They don't matter in Our World or the critical path, yes, but they may matter in terms of Your Story, that is, NPC relationships. If you make certain choices, some NPC might be more friendly with you and some other might hate your guts. Somewhat more speculatively: which may lead to different cutscenes in the Fort/Strider or different Fort politics. But that's the upper limit. It's important to remember that when they say "content", they mean Our World (MP) content unless otherwise specified. So you can't unlock a new mission, or make a mutually exclusive choice between two missions, solely through NPC dialogue. So no In Hushed Whispers vs. Champions of the Just type choice via NPC dialogue (not that the DAI choice was through dialogue either, fwiw).
