Updates are done! We're going to try PapaCharlie9 's idea of having colored [ New] tags instead of coloring the entire bullet point.

I'm pleased to see there's controller support for the PC so I won't totally suck at the game (if I get it)

Nuggets from the Game Informer storytelling interview video. www.gameinformer.com/2018/06/19/the-specifics-on-how-storytelling-works-in-biowares-anthem2:14 - (paraphrased) Q: Cyphers/NPCs are influenced by your SP choices, but when playing in the shared world with friends (a mission), will your team hear/get the same reactions from the same NPCs, even if their SP choices were different? A: No, each player gets customized NPC reactions to their SP choices, even in the shared world. So a reaction player A gets from an NPC might be hostile, but player B gets friendly, in that mission. "The mission is the same structure, but the flavoring around it will be different based on the choices that you made." -- Mike Gamble Later on Mark Darrah confirms that "radio chatter" may differ for different players in the same moment of the same mission. 3:47 - (paraphrased) Q: Is it basically impossible to spoil the story for your friends during a mission, because so much of the story juice is back in Tarsis? A: "Yeah, that's exactly right." -- Mark Darrah Side note: Mark Darrah said that in other Bioware games, people tended not to share their story experiences with friends because it's personal and they don't want to spoil? BSN must not have gotten the memo! I'm pretty sure I posted about every funny thing Sera did in DAI when it happened. a minuuuuute!
Does this then mean that missions themselves will be TOTALLY UNAFFECTED by your story choices?
So doesn't that mean that there will be no choices with the gravity the likes of: One player chose to kill this enemy or let that enemy live, and that enemy then features in a future mission? or doesn't appear in a future miision? Or would they do something á la urdnot wreav? If one player killed that particular story adversary, and the other let him live, then a future mission will be the same difficulty enemy, but one player sees him as wrex, and the other as wreav? That would basically mean that no decisions affect gameplay in any way. Only story. Correct?
I... don't know how to feel about that. I get it on one hand, and if they wrap the story around the mission well enough, this could definitely not matter. But on the other hand, you the gravity of your decisions IS effectively only emotional, story-bound and never has any effect on how different your gameplay is. This could tick off the ol' school fanbase. But then, they're probably already shouting that they won't play this, so that won't matter much maybe?

From Reddit regarding the endgame, from “BiowareBen”: www.reddit.com/r/AnthemTheGame/comments/8ske43/endgame_content_and_its_replayability_will/?st=JIOPI4HC&sh=751d1ebbDid someone say end game content?! So while I can't currently talk specifics about the end game content, I wanted to give some off the top of my head thoughts on how we'll be approaching the end-game content. • The end game is important! Like really important! • The end game gets more important the day after launch. • Replayability is a core goal of the content. • The community is going to help us improve, shape, and drive the long-term direction of the end game content. You have NO choice! We will involve you and we will listen to you! • The end game should be accessible to as much of the community as possible. BUT it shouldn't be watered down in the name of accessibility! • Content can be difficult, exciting, rewarding, and still be accessible. • It should NOT foster toxicity or elitism. • It SHOULD reward achievement, skill, and mastery. • Easy to understand, difficult to master. • Puzzles, secrets, and discovery is cool! Real talk - We will make mistakes! But with the help of the community, we will also make it great! We have a lot to prove and show you as we get closer to launch. We look forward to showing everyone our plans, then listening to your feedback and your ideas!

BSN must not have gotten the memo! I'm pretty sure I posted about every funny thing Sera did in DAI when it happened. a minuuuuute!
Does this then mean that missions themselves will be TOTALLY UNAFFECTED by your story choices? Yes, but they've been saying that all along. Choices affect the SP story and "the consequence hub", i.e., Fort Tarsis and your Strider. They affect relationships you have with NPCs, your understanding of the history/context/politics of the shared world, and your status, etc. They can't affect the shared world materially, for obvious reasons. On the other hand, they did say that in the critical path story, you "defeat the Dominion", which seems like it would affect the shared world? Not sure how they are going to finesse that. Correct. But enemy in the shared world does not equal NPC. Or perhaps we need two types of NPCs, SP-world NPC and shared world NPC. Gameplay in the shared world, correct. But, for example, maybe you have a rival back in the Fort that wanted to kill evil Wrex in the shared world and will be pissed at you for doing it without him. Personally, I got more out of the relationships and emotional changes from decisions than the world changing, "chosen one", stuff. Which usually was on rails and my choices didn't really matter anyway. Red/Green/Blue, right? So I'm not too surprised or worried about this design.

I'll believe all that when it happens. There's a big difference between saying what you want to do and actually being able to do it... I'm going to guess 'BiowareBen' is Ben Irving... ::shudders::

I guess I'm being a bit too cynical about the game. As much as I like the idea of the Javelins and what have you I just know if the game will be for me. Hard to explain I know but there you are.

I also enjoy a well-written on rails story more than the madatory clusterf*ck of cause and consequency at a players hand that e.g. the latest ME/DA games have become. Choice has become a little overrated. Also, they said to no longer have 6 dialogue choices per scene or whatever. That's good. You rarely need more than 2. There's agreeing or disagreeing with what's going on, and sacrificing selecting between 6 options every 10 seconds in a dialogue so that the scene can be more focused and well-directed is an improvement (imo). I understand that the loss of these choices pisses role play people off, though. Can't please everyone.

The new format works quite well for me … thanks PC9 for suggesting it … and Hrungr for adopting it … hope it makes it easier (on Hrungr) to do the updates.

I'm hearing the 'end-game' referred to as 'the Elder Game' but don't know if that's 'official' usage or just an explanation.

Both have the same meaning.
But I guess one doesn't have the MMO stigma and is preferable for marketing Anthem.

Not an endorsement of preordering or anything, but this is a good guide about the various editions: On a related note, I was just looking at what the upcoming Origin "Premier" subscription was all about. And I was surprised to find... it might actually be worth it. $130/yr CDN - Full access to the deluxe editions of their new games when they're released (not just trials), as well as their "Vault" Games (not a huge amount, but growing). Considering deluxe editions of new games run $100 CDN, it may not be a bad idea depending on how many EA games you usually get...

On a related note, I was just looking at what the upcoming Origin "Premier" subscription was all about. The major downside I see is that you lose access to those games if you ever unsubscribe That's true, but there would likely be only a handful you'd want to replay anyway (BioWare games for me). And they wind up being dirt cheap pretty quickly.

Or if your internet isn't working. Or Origin throws a fit for whatever reason (which is a problem also for offline games).
