The major downside I see is that you lose access to those games if you ever unsubscribe And that's the problem. I can't access it anyway being on Xbox. The week early launch is, er, annoying.

Not an endorsement of preordering or anything, but this is a good guide about the various editions: On a related note, I was just looking at what the upcoming Origin "Premier" subscription was all about. And I was surprised to find... it might actually be worth it. $130/yr CDN - Full access to the deluxe editions of their new games when they're released (not just trials), as well as their "Vault" Games (not a huge amount, but growing). Considering deluxe editions of new games run $100 CDN, it may not be a bad idea depending on how many EA games you usually get... Yea, I'm considering Premier subscription to try Anthem - if it turned out to be not for me or I'd be just too busy to play at that time, it will just cost me 15$ for a month of full access.

I don't like origin subscription. It sounds like exclusive marketing, screwing around with the content for access and thin content in the long run. I don't like paying for what I don't know I'll get for - even if it is in the long run.

This one will probably be a day-of purchase for me (LOD Edition); first non-preorder since ME3. Not because I think it'll be bad, I just don't feel any particular pressure for this one (since the only preorder exclusive goodie is a banner I'll never be interested in).

There is no value for me with Origin Premiere or for Origin Access, for that matter. I'm just not interested in being a tester.
More important, I need a new graphics card. My current one is > 5yrs old. I strongly suspect that Anthem will force me to upgrade. So, buying Anthem on sale is my vest value... if I buy it.

I prefer to have the game. Even if i have to pay more now, i can still play the game five years from now without having to pay for a subscription (like i do with ME or some of my old SW games).
This one will probably be a day-of purchase for me (LOD Edition); first non-preorder since ME3. Not because I think it'll be bad, I just don't feel any particular pressure for this one (since the only preorder exclusive goodie is a banner I'll never be interested in). Have to agree that the pre ordering bonus doesn't justify the price for a collectors edition when compared to ME3 or DAI.

I imagine after the E3 infodump, it'll probably be down to a trickle for a little while. Gamescon is coming up later in August, and probably worth keeping an eye on.

[New] Most of BioWare's systems are designed in such a way that they can do balance tweaks quickly. [Source]Must be table weight values. A change in a weapon's RoF value will affect its DPS (for example). Easy to change and no need for a recompile if done properly. Smart move.
[New] The Legion of Dawn Weapons should unlock after the tutorial. They are good for that stage of the game, but you will be able to find equivalents in-game. [Source] So why bother buying the LoD Edition?
[New] There are no gender variations on the Javelins. [Source]
I like to see the gender variation. A cost cutting move if I ever saw one and an opportunity lost for monetization.

Just an observation: You care about looks regarding whether or not the javelin looks male or female, but you don't care about looks whether or not how cool your javelin looks outfitted?
Kind of a discrepancy if you ask me, what is this based on? Or where do you draw the line, considering you can make your pilot's face as feminine or masculine as you want?

I don't equate gender form fitting suits to a cool factor. The last time I checked, male/female forms are different. Plus, the animation shows a Freelancer slips into the suit, not climb in.... which makes it form fitting... at least for the Ranger type. The Interceptor looks even more form fitting... but who knows, suit design probably will change. As to outfitting the suit... I see it more as survival necessities rather than looking cool.
Non gender looking suits is a smart design cost cutting move, imo.... One suit for all of them (paraphrase from TLofR)

Unless you're talking about something really tight-fitting, or a really curvy body, last time I checked most women can slip into male suit of armor: There's a ton of padding that needs to fill those in order to make it wearable so curves don't matter that much. And from cutscenes where a pilot enters the suit we see that Javelins are simply bigger and thicker than a medieval suit of armor - the fact that pilots can slip inside instead of having to have it individually fitted in pieces (even Iron Man suit is like that) means that Javelins need to be roomy enough to allow for that and the padding probably has enough give to let either average male or female sit comfortably in it with little to no effect on exterior lines.

To use a real world example (I know, heresy) … a pilot's helmet, externally it is identical to every other pilot's helmet for that platform, e.g. an F-35A pilot, wearing an HMCS helmet looks like any other F-35A pilot (except for "personalizations" like a visor cover) … And an F-16C blk 50 pilot, wearing a different type of HMCS look the same for the F-16C blk 50 platform … But cross platforms, helmets look very different (just as different classes of Javelins look different).
That said, the helmet and the jet don't care whether the pilot is male or female. The helmet itself is customized to the individual pilot. An interior lining in it is form-fitted to the pilot's head, covered by a liner, that shapes the interior of the hard shell helmet to that pilot. As long as that pilot is flying, unless the helmet is replaced, that helmet is only flown by that pilot.
I would guess something similar could be reasonably posited, for the Javelin suit. The exterior of the suit and its mechanics are fixed, but the interior is form-fitted to match the individual Freelancer. Unless the suit is destroyed or the Freelancer moves on, that suit is going to be worn only by that Freelancer.
So … a Freelancer that is highly talented, might even gain access to multiple Javelin suits, based on mission and team requirements. Each Javelin suit would be externally fixed (though some exterior, superficial customization might exist, kind of like a plane's nose art), but the interior would be form-fitted to that Freelancer.

Guess I better hope I like the playstyle for the Interceptor, since with that news it will be the only Javelin I'll ever be using.

From the videos the javelins seems to range between 2.5m-3m tall, that is more than enough space to fit any human being. They are more akin to the power armors from Fallout 4 than the armored/space suits from Mass Effect. There is no need to make those kind of silly distinctions in something that is big enough for a human(man or woman) to enter inside.

There is no need to make those kind of silly distinctions in something that is big enough for a human(man or woman) to enter inside. Seems about right. They did mention that arms and legs would not reach beyond the javelin's knees/elbows., so accounting for about 1m of foot+shin+knee (and a slight 0.25m for the top of the head), and the average human being about 1.75m, this would indeed end up being 3m.
Also. Padding is indeed how it's solved. I mean, imagine a fat male pilot (or a really buff one). If he were to have to get into a javelin, he'd need a lot more customisation than a general female pilot's curves. And by the way. Padding has been a woman's tactic since ages. So why wouldn't it be used in javelins?

Tall because of the stilts, but not bulky. Very much comparable to Shepard's armour. Colossus and Ranger are more comparable to the Fallout power armour

Do we know if we'll be able to name our different Javelins? I was thinking of going with Galahad, Launcelot, Percivale, and Merlin for the Ranger, Colossus, Interceptor, and Storm, respectively.
