I've been away for about a year with some full-time adulting and now I'm back into MEA as much as I can get away with while not getting divorced. Among other things, I've noticed there literally millions of credits worth of new common, uncommon, and rare gear since I last played. I used to maintain a weapon DPS/DPC spreadsheet specifically for those of us who need to make hard choices about weapons due to our limited manifests and I want to put out a new version to aid in picking weapons out of incomplete manifests, where generic advice on weapons usually falls apart.
I'm seeing that the weapons data files in the numerical damage thread appears to be up-to-date to patch 1.08 as the weapons released in 1.09 aren't in the table at all ... but there's a section for the special effects weapons that came out in 1.09 that shows the effects of those additional gun-powers. Basically, it's not close to accurate for 1.10 and the current balance. As you all have noticed, the special effect versions of the weapons do not share the progression look-up table with the regular/base version, but start Rank I at the Rank X stats for the base gun, so you can't reuse the look-up table for the base versions to figure what the new versions do. lennybusker indicated that one could just use the table for the "S" version of the weapon, but what about all those with the special versions where there is no "S" version of the weapon, which is most of the new weapons?
In addition, peddroelm and helloisaac appear to have gone dark, so I don't know who to go to to try and get the data.
Does anyone know a Frostbite guru that can pull the game data files for the current weapon stats or who'd be willing to teach me how?
Edit: Not to put too fine a point on it, but the weapon dps spreadsheet in the numerical testing thread OP still lists the PAW as having the 2nd worst DPS of all AR's, yet we all know that the laser pointer of doom simply ranks better than that atm.

Take a look at MP builder TheThirdRace made. You will find everything about every piece of gear and every character there. Weapon variants share same characteristics as regular weapons, only thing that improves with rank is special ability strength (siphon weapons heal more, concussive weapons deal more explosion damage, bulwark weapons give more damage reduction). You can't get variant of a weapon until that weapon is at rank X IIRC. Character ranks from XI to XX (veteran ranks) give bonuses to melee damage, power damage and combo damage. You can't get veteran ranks ubtill all characters of the same rarity are at X IIRC.

Good advice! Also thanks for helping me catch up on the new biz! I’ve been having a heck of time trying to understand the new stuff, just because I haven’t really caught up on all the threads where I might find out the info yet.

Friendly advice. When you get any Siphon variant, even uncommon one, take it as backup weapon and use it to heal yourself.
