So far my feelings toward this game have been neutral to tentatively positive. Unfortunately the stream put me squarely back in the "meh" category.  It's looking more and more like the game simply is what it was initially shown as without much of a catch to it. I guess we'll just be doing errands in the wild with somewhat okay game mechanics (compared to what else there is on the market outside of BioWare, I mean) and then doing story stuff really segregated in Fort Tarsis.
It's almost like the team that wanted to make Anthem made Anthem and then a small portion of BioWare vets made Fort Tarsis to check the BioWare box.

And while i'm not a graphics nut, there seems to be some sort of downgrade being done here. The graphic settings are on low, here is a comparison of the same scene (top is stream, below is on Ultra). The stream quality is pretty crap too and there was a bunch of animation bugs (Storm's cap, Colussus Ultimate ability jerking, etc). The Storm's cap is already fix in the current build. Okay... but it begs the question why they needed to drop the graphics quality that much for the stream (and why the fps was still shaky). Obviously this is an alpha game and performance will improve. But the idea that they just flipped a switch, and we're still certain to get the graphics quality from the early trailers - it just doesn't work that way. |

I'm still looking forward to the game but that live stream was simply terrible. Beyond/beyond the/the echo/echo...it was rather non-informative and a completely haphazard presentation. I cannot imagine it did anything to persuade traditional solo players on the fence about the fun of group play. If I were upper management or part of the marketing team I'd be more than a little annoyed over that. They need to be showing the full potential to the prospective player-base. Completely agree. When the most talked about part of the stream is the echo, you know you've created one dull-arse presentation. |

According to a dev on Discord, the game default to low settings right now, so they just didn't bother increasing them for the stream. |
