I'm nearly similar. I blow up the Institute, but I leave the Brotherhood, Minutemen and Railroad alive. 😄 Goodbye to all that advanced tech. And Dr Madison Li from Fallout 3. She could be recruited to the Brotherhood. Goodbye the Classical music station.

The only thing I don't miss about the Institute is a copy of a magazine I need to ensure I collect before it blows (and a certain Synth).

Cool. I hope someone actually overhauls the Commando and Gunslinger perks with a mod so that you can dual wield automatic rifles and pistols (how cool would it be to wield two .44 revolvers?).

My canon: The Brotherhood of Steel take control of the Commonwealth and assimilate the Minutemen into their ranks, like the NSR did with the Desert Rangers. They bring fresh water, more technology, and order to an otherwise lawless wasteland. Oh and Institute are totally obliterated and Synths are controlled so we don't need to fear another Institute infiltration. I'll forgive your heresy and raise you this: My Sole Survivor takes lead of the Institute, with the Minutemen allied. While the destruction of the BOS Commonwealth chapter and Railroad is tragic, he is able to grant synths their rights: all who wish to be free, are. Slowly, but surely, the Sole Survivor is able to bring the Commonwealth closer to where humanity could be in 2287.

Mine blew up the Institute as well and now lives happily with his synth son and his girlfriend at their Diamond City apartment. Synth Shaun usually hangs out at Red Rocket though where daddy has his man cave when he needs time off from his woman. Shaun and Buddy really hit it off! Ada is there too and funny enough I parked Nick there as well. Robot party!!!
I too managed to keep the other factions alive.
My Sole Survivor is helping the MM rebuild the Commonwealth since they're too stupid to do that on their own. Preston is at the Castle where he can't do any damage.
I let the Brotherhood kill X6-88 over and over for a while (parked that jackass at the airport). Then I shot him in the face to end the misery. Happy day!

Pretty much my PT. Every other I started had me thinking about a PT with conserving the Institute but I never followed that through. The Brotherhood vertibirds are just too cool.

There's something that has bugged me about the Fallout games: how come there isn't any mutated giant spiders in the game? Does anyone have an answer to this?

They have the cousins of spiders with the Radscorpions. Ugh, the Radscorpions. Can't stand them in Fallout 4. Plus they're not much of a challenge til you hit level 50 or 60. That's when Deathskull Radscorpions become more common.

I don't think there were any spiders in Fallout 1 or Fallout 2, and I suppose Bethesda just continued the trend and didn't add spiders.... yet...

I don't think that most people know that Bethesda were not the original creators of Fallout. And that spider would make a deadly enemy in a Fallout game, if handled correctly.

Started a new completionist survival playthrough. The first task as always is to build Sanctuary just like it looks in the final cutscene so that when I eventually finish the game, it looks consistent.

There are some games I can just go back in and enjoy yet another playthrough. And Fallout 4 is up there alongside Mass Effect for replayability. One of the first things I do is recreate Sanctuary to match the end-game cutscene. (top shot: game cutscene, bottom shot: current playthrough)

I honestly haven't even thought about FO4 in a long time, but I read about a mod called "Project Valkyrie" that alters the main quest so that you can negotiate between the factions instead of just blowing some of them up and Sarah Lyons from FO3 makes an appearance. Has anyone else played it? And how much actual new content is there?

I honestly haven't even thought about FO4 in a long time, but I read about a mod called "Project Valkyrie" that alters the main quest so that you can negotiate between the factions instead of just blowing some of them up and Sarah Lyons from FO3 makes an appearance. Has anyone else played it? And how much actual new content is there? Er yes. I've played it, and let me tell you of my experiences with it. Now, reading the description it sounded ideal. Real choice on how to deal with The Institute and other factions! What's not to love? Get that bad boy installed! So I did just that. I'll start with the good: Thuggysmurf is an incredible level designer. Very, very skilled, with fantastic attention to detail. His new areas and interior locations are very, very professionally done. The downside is he tends to make them 'pristine', almost clinical, very pre-war, which can feel kind of jarring when set against the rest of the universe. Now for the bad: Aside from being a brilliant level designer, Thuggysmurf appears to be a 15-year-old pubescent teenager, filled with raging hormones, trapped inside the body of a grown man. He areas are absolutely STUFFED TO THE BRIM with scantily-clad female NPCs in stripper outfits, with their breasts so massively enlarged as to defy all laws of gravity. All of his areas have these, not just the obvious ones. One of the main new areas is actually a stripper bar, so I guess it kind of makes sense to have them there - but he has the same thing in his 'Brotherhood of Gold' military bunker which features topless female technicians running around in overalls, with only the straps covering their nipples of their quadruple D-sized breasts, and this theme persists throughout. Valkyrie herself is a schoolboy's fantasy object dressed in skintight leather. If you can somehow get your head around the ultra-sexual content and don't find any of it jarring you also have to contend with the changes to the main world. Do any of the missions from Outcasts and Remnants leading up to the main Project Valkyrie campaign (and at least one or two are mandatory) and you'll find areas of Boston, along with former peaceful areas like Concorde are now an invasion point for scores of uber-level enemies. Concord will now have several fast-respawning Super mutant Behemoths prowling around at all times, engaged in huge battles with Gunner Commanders armed with Fat Men and gauss canons, in turn fighting dozens of Uber Raiders in power armor and end game weapons - all mixed in with Thuggysmurf's own newly-created 'ultra versions' of regular foes, such as Supermutant Grenadiers who spam Nuka Grenades and a whole lot more besides. Entire areas of Boston and it's outskirts become massive war zones, packed with these super-enemies, who will all instantly turn on you and ignore their previous targets. I found that even on Survival mode they also respawn insanely quickly, meaning you can never be free of them. Once you 'liberate' the Institute and make peace with all factions (which you genuinely can do, though the solution the mod gives you is pretty cheesy) the place is taken over by the residents of the afore-mentioned stripper bar. The entire Institute gets a new coat of dayglo purple paint, and the research areas are turned into 'pleasure rooms' featuring hot tubs filled with frolicking naked nymphettes, blasting out pumping techno music over the PA. If this still feels like your thing, then feel free.. but don't say I didn't warn you.
