DOS2 is a really fun game, it has a cool story and the companions are well written. I found the combat sometimes a bit difficult and it requires some strategy but it was also rewarding and enjoyable. As for romance i`ve only tried Ifan and it was a really sweet romance with a good happy ending (depending on your final choices). As for companions, i had with me Ifan, Lohse and Fane. I have a 2nd playthrough on hold, i`m still in Fort Joy, where i`m playing a dwarf who will romance Beast.

Is now a good time to talk about sexy trees? I can already see our tree guy. His name will be Leonard Eaves, son of Stephen Tump (a warrior who was cut down in his prime) and Shoana Hrub (a short woman from around Orzammar). His posturing and gnarly looks will lead to a dialogue choice like "you're all bark and no splinter bite." This will plant the seeds for an honest relationship that's rooted in trust. It will bloom into something beautiful. If BW allows this romance to bear fruit, it will be the opposite of withered and hollow. geddit?

I played on Explorer mode (i wanted to get the achievement) until i got to Act 4, after trying to win a fight against some voidwokens for more then ten times i gave up and finished the game on story mode. This time i started my 2nd playthrough on story mode, no longer care about that achievement trophy .

One thing I'm hoping for with regard to DA4 romances: I hope I don't get stuck with an NPC romance. Can't speak for anyone else, as I know some people like them - the feeling that after adventuring, you can come home to this LI who's separate from all that - but I think it suuuccks and I want my LI in my party kicking butt with me as much as possible. I like seeing them there, I like hearing their comments on locations/quests, I like hearing their battlecries and watching them in action. I'd be hugely disappointed if the character I had my eye on turned out to be an NPC romance. Y'all have got me really excited about Divinity Original Sin 2. Now I've got to really explore it. Although Cullen is one of my favorite romances (and, in my opinion, with enough cutscenes to minimize the fact that he is an NPC) i also prefer a companion romance instead of an NPC. I always like to take the companion LI for all the quests, not only for all the banter/comments but for that feeling that they are fighting together and looking after each other. For me it makes for a more compelling love story.

NPC romance can work, granted it's an NPC that's important throughout the game and there's some kind of gameplay aspect to them, like how the war table was handled in DA:I. And the biggest must has to be that they have appeared in the series before (preferably as a PC) and there's enough background, lore and characterization about them.
In this case Cullen = ok Josephine = not so much

In this case Cullen = ok Josephine = not so much While I'm sure a lot of people would love to romance their Hawke/Inquisitor/Warden, I'm not sure how that would work? Even Hawke with their three dominant personalities was difficult to make into a brief-cameo-NPC... a full-on romance option seem like it'd be even more fraught with complications. Unless you mean PC as in.... playable party character, in which case ignore this.

Can't speak for anyone else, as I know some people like them - the feeling that after adventuring, you can come home to this LI who's separate from all that - It's not just that. They can tell character and romance stories that they couldn't if the character is a party member. For example, a big part about Josephine is how she is a pacifist. That offered an unique perspective that wouldn't be possible if she is out there killing alongside us.

More opportunities to discuss marriage or be able to get married in-game would be nice, too. Not every LI is going to be into that - hell, Isabela outright says that after she was freed from Luis, "I swore I'd never marry again" but then again she also swore off feelings and look how that turned out so WHO KNOWS - but it'd be nice to be able to bring it up in conversation if you're so inclined. Besides Sera and Cullen having actual wedding scenes, I know you can discuss it with Bull, Cassandra, etc. There's the possibly-more-than-political marriage with Alistair or Anora in DAO. Nerav Helmi was apparently betrothed or something to the male dwarf noble Warden. In DAI the Inquisitor refers to the Warden as Morrigan's husband if he romanced her and Ariane makes similar comments in Witch Hunt when she sees your ring, and if you choose certain dialogue options Zevran will propose to the Warden. Dunno if there are any NWN2 fans in here if you play the expansion some of the epilogues have you settling down and getting married in West Harbor, and in others you remain together..... or they die........ there are a handful of different endings lol. So yeah, not a requirement and I can't think of many games where Actual Official Marriage™ happens or is discussed (as opposed to simply remaining together in love, or splitting up, or someone dying gruesomely in an epilogue/DLC.....), but I like when there's an opportunity to either bring it up yourself or your LI mentions it. 👍

To this day I'm pissed how Trespasser completely shat on the Iron Bull romance, ugh. Iron Bull is not just a humorous raunchy guy with no romantic or sensitive side, it was pretty clear it exist in during vanilla DA:I. It was extremely clear. So I just have to ask did the writer not get that memo? Idk. Either way it would have been REALLY sweet if a tal-vashoth Bull would get sensitive and romantic about the Inquisitor asking him to marry him, showing that he has broken some shackles he had to the Qun and his previous culture, and starting to embrace parts our culture, then showing us getting married. Then you could leave qun Bull as this dismissive guy who will betray you in the end so he'll humor your marriage request for now, showing that yeap, he is all qunari alright. BUT I GUESS THAT WAS TOO HARD
