Literally what the hell is the point of a romance feature in the base game if a freaking DLC is going to force you down on one path? What the HELL were they thinking? I can't wait for the PR response to that.

It's really not that hard. If they don't have ideas, they wouldn't write any straight characters either. There are 0 reasons Liam couldn't have been bi or gay, while keeping his story and personality. Even right now, you'd just remove his refusal, unlock his gay romance, and you're done. The initial 2 non-squad m/m choices in MEA were deliberate, not just caused by a lack of ideas. /shrug Maybe they did not want Liam to be gay? Perhaps Liam represented another group of people who'd not be able to identify with Liam if he also happened to be bisexual or gay.  |

Wow, that was big news about AC:O, really flies in the face of their marketing stating that they were not going to force the player down any specific romance, wonder how badly this'll blow up for them & if they'll end up patching it out?
Kind of give BW a little marketing up if they want to be snarky, whenever they mention the gay LI's for DA:4 they can always just throw out that they aren't Ubisoft lol.
Also, I'm fairly sure that this is the reason that Alastair, Morrigan & Sebastian are straight LI's, two are heirs to kingdoms & thus must continue a bloodline & one has to offer the chance of pregnancy to avoid death & I don't think it would have worked if they were bi as it could still be inferred as forced hetro - but that's just my opinion that.

After 10 years Alistair did not have an heir, if he has an heir in DA4 would be a retcon of DA rules. Gay kings and lesbian queens are ✧・ﾟ:*v a l i d✧・ﾟ:* as much as adopted heirs are valid in a fictional setting where there are dragons, magic and demons. and bi people can have children... And Gaider considered blood magic for female wardens doing the dark ritual. Gaider said they were not bi because higher power gave them resources for only one romance for gays and one for lesbians. About ACO there was no necessity to put forced child and straight relationship since the bloodlines dont matter anymore in the lore... He's great isn't he? I really like his character and romance. YES!!!!!!!!!  also I'm so surprised his bumptious personality is just a facade?!?!?! SWEET BOI he's full of insecurities and I loooove it |

SWEET BOI he's full of insecurities and I loooove it It always possible that Alistair might not have fully Grey Warden qualities cus of his mother being Fiona, it's hard to tell cus the two people he is able to marry either is also a Grey Warden (Cousland) so has the Grey Warden effects or Anora who possibly has existing fertility issues (it's also possible it was Cailan that was actually infertile in that relationship). But either way I'm getting carried away with the lore away from the actual discussion so I'll shut up now lol  |

Looking back, the whole "Lesbian Dark Ritual" possibility would create a huge plot hole with Morrigan's character arc. I mean, if all she needed was Warden blood, as opposed to male Warden sperm, she wouldn't have needed to romance anyone. Just magically preserve some Warden blood after any random battle, and instant DNA.

Did anyone actually consider these ACOd 'we'll bang, ok?->FTB->"maybe join my crew?"' interactions as romance? These choices were about as relevant as roleplaying as a vegetarian.
Kassandra/the other one is a set protagonist so this shouldn't be a surprise. I guess the dialogue options gave the wrong impression that this is an actual rpg.
At least there is a story reason for this decision, probably a setup for an expansion/sequel.

At least there is a story reason for this decision, probably a setup for an expansion/sequel. Yeah, I was extremely disappointed with what I got when I purchased ACO. It was my first AC game and I got it because it was made out to be an RPG that could stand up to Bioware's own and for the gay romances, but I didn't find it to be a particularly strong "RPG" and the romances in the game were basic and lackluster AF.
