Or maybe only rogues have charisma, but it’s transferable. Your non-rogue PC can say the charisma-gated line, but only because the party rogue is standing behind you and nodding in agreement. Like the videogame equivalent of rolling to assist a diplomacy check without really specifying how you’re “assisting”.  Yeah, sorta similar to how having Varric in the party in DA2 meant you could occasionally bluff your way out of fights.
Or having a mage in the party allows for rogue player-character to pretend to be a mage as well, in an attempt to scare off enemies or bluff their way passed some magical enemies. For bonus points, they could even flip the joke about "Dalish" from the Bull's Chargers on it's head, by having us say "I'm telling you, it's not a bow, it's a curved staff!". 
My Daenerys character would very much like a dragon romance. !  |

If I like the game reviews and do decide to get the game, I'll go for the one who has as much care put into their story as Morrigan and Solas. DAI was the first game where none of the female love interests for a male protagonist really drew me in. I guess they were to...vanilla..in a sense. I get that they didn't want to rehash Morrigan or Isabela, but I would like to see another character who doesn't shy away from her sexuality and even uses it as a weapon. I hope we get to continue Solas' romance in some form since he appears central to DA4's plot. I 2nd this I really wish Vivienne was a romance option. |

I also can't really think Isabela as black, just tan as she lacks the characteristics of a black woman.
So that said wouldn't mind more diverse human companions. Barris would be a great option for later(could be straight or bi) but alas, can die so probably unlikely.

A sane human male mage would be a nice change! However I am still holding out for a male dwarf. Dorian? I'd argue Solas is entirely sane. He sent his people away and intends to bring them back. Also, my Trevelyan mage is sane. |

He is who he is and that's why I love him and his personal quest so much! I'd romance Solas as a human using a mod though. Hopefully in 4 we get something different, like maybe a circle mage dedicated to the cause instead of an apostate. Would make it really interesting and maybe rival-like if mine is a slave or apostate. |

Someone said Bioware, as a whole, is not allowing the romancing of a skin tone that has no relevance in the Dragon Age World. It had historical relevance in the Milky Way Galaxy of the Mass Effect World but is still not then relevant in their current time. All that aside, Jacob was available even if he wasn't popular among the players/Female Sheps who had him available as a het romance.
In Dragon Age, you can play a dark skinned character (DA2, DAI) and interact with dark skinned narratively important characters (Every Qunari Character is dark skinned including actual companions Zevran, Isabella, Dorian, Vivienne, Iron Bull). Along with side characters like Barris and Briala who play crucial roles in their quests.

If I recall, BioWare explained that the reason was because of the old Eclipse engine they used on DAO and DA2 wasnt able to do racial features really well. But yes they confirmed that she is black since she is Rivaini which is the DA equivalent.

He was, by all means, a very good representation. The real issue was the fact that Femshep had no way of romancing Jacob without being a jerk and abusive. Like sometimes it was borderline harassment, and we are talking about the "good" dialogue options. The bad ones were just that. Harassment. And this is not even about the fact that he dumps in you in ME3. Who could blame him tbh? ME2 Shepard deserves it. |
