hm... the DvL Event... I'm doing it too - though I'll never get all the Legendary achievements - but I don't need it for the companion so who cares but I was wondering: the Champion level requires to get Level 5 Valor - meaning PvP... which I never tried... how easy is it to get to level 5 as a complete PvP NOOB?

Euan Morton as the Male Sith Inquisitor is by far my favourite performance in the game.
What makes that class fun for me is that even if you go full Light Side, the character never loses their acerbic wit, deadpan snark and casual indifference towards everyone else around you. You're not a hero, you're just very good for a bad guy.
Playing LS also makes for a nice contrast with Darth Marr later on in the game and into the expansions. The two of you end up being the Only (Reasonably) Sane people left keeping the Empire afloat after everything starts to fall apart, as you're both pragmatic villains who only differ on how ruthless your methods are.

Juggernaut + Vette ftw I also really love Female Sorc, but I can't possibly imagine her as anything other than almost completely evil and a bit insane. The VA plays that perfectly. Yeah... Sorc is only in the running because of the Kreia outfit... although I would play her as Madness Sorc. My female Marauder was the last char I leveled to 65, so I'm not sure if I want to do it again so soon. Still... Vette. I'm slightly more in favour of male Merc (I'd pick the dps tree that's not the same as my Gunnery Commando) or female Sniper (I'd pick something different than Sharpshooter Gunslinger). Well, won't get started this week anyway, but it's something I'll have to do sooner or later if I want the rewards. hm... the DvL Event... Valor 5 is basically nothing. Just queue up for a WZ (ideally <65) and do 3-4 matches. Should give you valor 5, even if you lose. Below 65 you won't need PvP gear and people are a little more forgiving about mistakes. Although... read the tutorial, read the tool tips on the map and if you pick up stuff... and don't hesitate to ask questions. Remember that some abilities work differently in PvP (taunt = 6sec of 30% less dmg the target does to anyone but you) and that everyone likes healers. Especially female ones. ^^ If you do enter lvl65 PvP without PvP gear, then you're a liability and will die a lot. But buying the first set of gear is cheap, if you do the introduction quest and the dailies, you already have enough to get half of it.

I don't really like the fights in SWTOR because I prefer the versatile combat in GW2 (where you can dodge roll out of the way in any direction, switch weapons at will even in the middle of combat), made more dynamic with the gliding. And before you ask, I play SWTOR for the stories. I didn't bother to get back into the swotor guild roster; they clean out the non-actives at the end of every month, because I don't do Ops etc. Pros and cons to each I think. Yes GW2 is more fluid in combat but on the other hand I do miss straight up healing in that game. And no, one or two AOEs don't count. But story is definitely TOR's strength. As for guilds, you're not joining the right ones. Don't go for the tryhard or pro ones if you're a casual. When joining/getting recruited be straight up about what you're looking to do. If they kick you, who cares? Join another one. That 10% XP does help. If you're at max level for everything then yeah it doesn't really matter- though a guild that actually suits your playstyle can come in handy if you're in a pinch and need an extra group member. The problem now is... I really do have every class already but I still need to level an Imp char to 65 and do two flashpoints with it. I just can't decide what to choose. Ideally I'd pick a gender I don't have already, to experience the opposite romances (female Shadow declared Felix is now her boytoy and dragged him into her cabin), so my options are: Male Mercenary, Female Sorc, Female Sniper, Male Juggernaut. I could play the two Sith as LS, that would change a few things. Also, I'd get to flirt with Mako or Vette if I picked the male chars, which is something I missed out on due to picking female chars the first time. Agent storyline is one that has the most divergent endings, so there's potential there, too. Female Sorc because I have Kreia's outfit and no one who could wear it. Help me, Obi-wan Kenobi forum posters, you're my only hope! You mean you don't have a female agent to experience the auditory excellence of Jo Wyatt? demion pls My recommendation is Female Agent, Male Merc, Male SW, more or less in that order. Otherwise, Kaidan Fan, saberchic jilinna, Thursday night seems to work best in teh immediate future? Say 8-8:30ish EST? We can coordinate more tomorrow.

Ah no, I phrased it in an incorrect manner, my bad. The guild do not dump people out because of their playstyles. They have to do the monthly cleaning due to the enormous numbers. They have to set up a primary and a secondary guild because of that. Due to RL issues, I could not remain active constantly for the last few years hence my toons were all cleared out of the guild. I was yo-yoing in and out. This time, I don't want to bother with the hassle. If I want, I can chat or ask for help over the guild mumble channel. Before, I would go on Ops because a group couldn't find another but that's once in a blue moon a long long time ago. Or they're organizing a datacron run, etc. Now I'm just happy pottering about on my own. If anyone needs anything, I'm willing to help or fill in the slot. There're a few companions I'm not really going to try for. Dr Larkin for one. I think there was supposed to be some event on certain days in which you can collect the stuff he wants. I can't arrange my schedule according to their (Bioware) schedule so no and I don't want to specifically mine for the items. The other two is the Rep droid and the Sith soldier. One wants PvP which I do not do at all and I'm not going to be "pressured" into doing something I don't want to and that I don't enjoy. Give me UT '99 style of PvP and I'll do it, not your style Bioware. The sith soldier want Ops (?) I can't remember, I just know it's something I don't do either. The wookie. I don't know, I might try again for match 6 - 10 in the arena. I just discovered that items can now be stack in hundreds. That's good because I'm running out of space. Yes, definitely swtor hits it all in the story department. GW2 hits it in the animation (really funny in some , an animation that can raise a laugh score a lot of points), guild modes, combat department and lush gameworld though I noticed they're trying to pull up their socks with the Living Story. It's an improvement but still can't beat swtor for characters. I started an asura necromancer last week and don't think much of the personal story. Rather bland and repetitive theme.

Or they're organizing a datacron run, etc. Now I'm just happy pottering about on my own. If anyone needs anything, I'm willing to help or fill in the slot. Again, the mega guilds aren't the only ones on the scene and unless you're hardcore grinding Conquest for some reason, they have no real use anyway. Most hardcore OPs/PVP guilds aren't active anymore or if they are, they're certainly not overflowing to such an extent that they need to constantly delete people. Mega guilds like what you're describing are pretty much only for Conquest now and that blows anyway. Point is, if you ask around on fleet, or even starter planets or capital worlds, you'll get plenty of invites. Hell you'll get recruiters putting out calls for guilds without you even asking. You can find everything from nearly full guilds to barebones ones and from super active to nearly dead. And if you don't want a guild for the social stuff, doing events or OPs/FPs/PVP/whatever, the XP and Rep boosts are still worth it if you're leveling. This is meant as a general comment/helpful info by the way. I'm not telling you or anyone else how to play. But if you're starting out or leveling alts, joining a guild for the mechanical benefits alone still makes a tangible difference. And depending on what, or rather who you find you may get some other perks as well. With my cycles of leaving the game for months at a time and returning, I've either found myself kicked out of guilds (which is fine, doesn't matter, if I still need the boosts on that character I'll join another) or the only one online in a dead guild. But when I joined I always got some perks in addition to the boosts. My first guild, the one I joined with all my characters ran raffles every couple of weeks. I never won anything major just some toys and dyes, but it was still kinda cool. When I left and came back I found myself out. I joined random guilds again, for the XP boost. The one on my main helped me get a hoverthrone and a jetpack, something I probably would never have gotten on my own, even though I bought a hypercrate. And more recently I switched my agent from a dead guild to a new one that recruited me out of an FP because they liked my healing- and I got a 400k signing bonus on top of it. I only run FPs for the healing now and it's kinda nice to get a couple of people from there as opposed to pure PUGs. tl;dr Guilds do provide tangible benefits and it doesn't cost a thing to join one. If it does cost anything over what you're willing to put in, just leave and find another.

^ very true - I joined guilds with my chars now and although I don't do the typical guild stuff (OPs, Raids, Conquests...) it is nice to have peeps around to ask something, to help out (getting a datacron, doing quick H2s...) and the Rep bonus it truly nice (xp is not necessary - if you're a sub you level ultra fast imho)

I'm not in any guild because the mere presence of people would lead me to spend time with them... time I don't really have. I treat SW:TOR mostly as a single player game where I can log in and out whenever I want, without taking care of other people. In other news, I made a male Juggernaut. Mostly because I want my Vette and LS Jaesa is practically a new companion (who can wear Kreia's outfit!). Going full LS with this one. Female Agent was tempting but I'd have to play as healer to experience something different and that sucks for solo leveling. Storywise I'd do the same stuff all over again, ending up as a free agent. It's the ending that most appeals to me. No one I'd romance on my crew either (too bad Kaliyo is only bi on paper).

HK 55's story is really fun. I love the destiny bit. That one had me rolling. Just did the Scorpio bit. *shakes fist* Now I'm down to the last bit for chapter 16. But I've two side quests alerts from the alliance, I guess I better do them before finishing up 16. Btw, are all the companions released? I still don't have the four for JK. Also, did they add in another higher grade craftable items? I don't supposed they pushed up weapon hilts, etc.

Plus with operatives you have stealth so you can just sneak past shit. With the current XP curve you don't need to fight everything. Hell just farm heroics and do your daily FP and you don't need to fight anything else outside class missions. And yes, that ending is the best ending. And though I'm a straight dude, I found the Vector romance pretty sweet. When you get down to it, Vector is the only companion the agent can really trust and the one with the most human connection, despite being a Joiner. You have some real freaks and weirdos on your crew for the agent For JC you only get Qyzen. ok, I'm not amused to find a crafting mat is listed as only obtainable via hardmode HP. have you checked GTN?

If it's Exotic Isotope Stabilizers, then you can buy those from the vendor on Odessen, too. Strategic Resource Matrix is obtained through conquest. I've got enough of both to craft myself 220 gear without doing a single hardmode FP or Op.
