Star Wars: The Old Republic Discussion

I used a friend's referral so I got 7 days subscription for now.

The USD currency seems crazy right now. I'm going to buy origin bundle before SGD took a hike as well. All I care right now was getting KOTET.

Don't give up without doing the agent story. I think it's the best of the bunch (even if SoR and KotFE can mess with your chosen ending). It's really the only one where your actions get you different endings.

I've never liked the Agent's storyline, despite it being everyone else's favorite. I did like the Trooper's despite nobody liking it. (Shrug) But I do think that playing all 8 stories is really an awesome part of SWTOR. They do come together, it's amazing.

I've yet to finish the trooper story. I'm stuck somewhere in Act 2 with barely any motivation to continue. I just find it tedious, especially having to chosen to play lightside. It's all "yes sir, anything you say sir, for the Republic sir, Havoc Squad ftw etc etc". I don't feel she has any personality at all, she's just a mindless drone. Maybe it picks up again but it's my least favourite class so far (only just started consular, which I hear has similar problems).

The agent storyline is just fantastic and really well-written. It's the least 'Star Wars' out of them all but I got really hooked and found, as others have mentioned, there seems to be much more scope for the choices you make and the way they impact the endings. The second act in particular is brilliant and there was a really satisfying antagonist.

Although I think the agent is the best story, my favourite is actually the bounty hunter. Maybe it's because it was my first playthrough and there's a nostalgia factor, but this is the character I'm still most attached to. The Great Hunt was a bit formulaic but still fun, especially knowing who you are chasing down, and the rest of the storyline isn't bad either. But it's the companions that really make it - Gault, Blizz and Torian in particular. Plus I love Mandalorians and you have a jetpack and flamethrower. What's not to love?

Shout-out for Act 1 of the smuggler story too, which is hilarious and probably better than the agent's Act 1. But sadly I think the story falls off a bit during Acts 2 and 3, though the character herself remains really funny throughout.

I tend to find the Force classes less interesting - Jedi Knight was your typical Star Wars/KOTOR story, which was fine. (And it may be an unpopular opinion, but I loved Doc!) Warrior was interesting but I actually preferred Inquisitor for some reason, which I know is maybe not in the majority.

My Arcann fandom is strong. Woke up and found "You were randomly selected by the self-exiled-but-still-glorious Prince Arcann as one of this weekend's 450-cartel coin victors!" *faints*

So.... I filled my 32 character slot. Now I have 11 lowbie male toons to raise to 65s before Double XP ends. O_o ...when I don't want to play too much videogames in November.

I love all VAs so far (^played all of them now...). But FemQuisitor can be too... chavvy and bratty...... and yet I adore my sex-slave-turned-sith-lord.... 
but I haven't been playing her story for months and I don't want to ruin her story with the expansions.... 

I just tried Hammer Station Tactical with 2 mid 20's with just quest armors and weapons with 2 healing companions.  It was a cake walk because the NPC healers just continuously pump out 9K, 10K heals left and right.   We only realized that it was all because of the NPC healers when after one boss fight, they stopped following us.   We went into combat with trash mobs and died within 7 seconds and wondered what happened, then we realized we have no heals.   Then I joined a real group with 4 players ranging from level 60's to level 20's.   It is sooooo much harder without NPC healer.   The level 60 pretty much just carry the team.

He was also the voice for Varric.
