So, I ran the new FP 3 times yesterday. It was long. It was beautiful. It had a lot of mobs. It felt like old SWtOR, imo. I loved it. I will agree that the bosses had entirely too much hp for solo mode though. Omg, I bet that first boss took me 20 mins (I was heals and my level 1 Temple was tanking), UGH! I did see that many people had to re-run it after doing it on story mode, even though the description says "complete 'A Traitor Among the Chiss' in solo mode." I didn't encounter any bugs in the 3 runs, so I don't know anything about that. When Umbara came out, many complained that it was too short/quick/easy and now they're upset that this one is harder and longer? I loved it No pleasing some folks, I guess. I hope we get more locations/things to do on Copera, it was pretty! 3 times, you said? Then you probably can answer my question. I run it only once (without much fuss, but that's not the point). From the start I choose "solo mod" correctly, did not get helping droid (expected after all forum topics) but(!) in my case kolto stations did not work either. Did it work for you? It did not give any messages like "you need to have a group to use kolto station", it was simply un-clickable with a bit green sign (something like a target) above each. Did I miss something and there was a way to activate kolto stations? Not that I need them but the very fact bothers me.

I suggest buying the super cheap (960 credit) rank 5 imperial memorabilia on the imperial fleet from Tahoota and get her to level 20 before starting, makes a huge diff. Even though I ran it on my healie Consular and Temple at level 1 for tank and lived and the kolto stations aren't clickable, you just run through them and they heal you and Temple. Let me know if you need anything else

They did look kind of PvP style but I did not see the effect and decided they are simply off. Temple is good enough as a healer even at lvl 1 (at least my Balance JC was fine) and now that I know stations are working correctly, do not see why solo mod would be called difficult.

Yeah, it is pretty convenient. Ended up running all the dailies on my main sent which netted a nice mil or so. Took my time, turned out pretty fun.
I would've thought (and hoped) healers would be more in demand (and thus get the role in need bonus) for FPs. But anytime I do see that pop up, it's always gone by the time I queue.

Picked up TOR for a bit to see the Throne/Knights expansions. The Cartel market is still stupid. - Hk-55 is fun. *I know, wasnt subbed at the time but I hope I can get him back later.
- One more class til legendary. My sniper is already in the late 40s even before belsavis.
- Space Body Snatcher Emporer def. loves my Sith Warrior too much. I wonder if he's as obsessive with the other classes.

Furthermore, a big part of what I named before is, rather than power, achievement. "Only you have been worth my time", says Valkorion to the player character. He's an immortal Sith abomination, why would he have any interest in some grunt soldier or an arms runner, I see people ask. However, this is where it seems to me like people have it backwards. Looking at it from his perspective, he already has power, he already has an Empire, he has eternal life, he has no further need for pawns. Instead, he is looking for someone who piques his interest. And when you look at it that way, the Knight who was basically raised from birth to be a sword that Jedi could stick into the Emperor and make him die. So someone like that fighting and defeating an avatar of the Emperor? I think a guy who can decimate planets would honestly find that pretty...banal, especially since the Knight never truly managed to vanquish him. Same thing for all those others who start off naturally gifted or otherwise (particularly the Warrior or the Consular). On the other hand, just a "regular person" who accomplishes, say, everything the Smuggler accomplishes by uniting the freelance criminals of the galaxy, however briefly, to a common front, or the Hunter, who reshaped the very face of the galaxy by indirectly putting Saresh into power, sending the Empire reeling from an actually-aggressive Republic military effort. That actually seems like the sort of thing that would get a cosmic monstrosity interested: pure amusement value. Nobody is a threat to Valky, so it seems like the best choice for the story is someone who would be interesting for a different reason. He doesn't want another pawn from the protagonist. He wants a more powerful base body. But on the subject of pawns, of course he wants more pawns. The entire Eternal Empire and the Sith Empire were his pawns. Without pawns he has no empire to speak of. However, it is the power of the new body that matters. He ultimately wants a more powerful body; an upgrade. Not a weaker one. There is a reason he chose Valkorian's body. Valkorian was stronger than all the rest. Valkorian's leadership skill are meaningless as Valkorian was hollowed out and destroyed. The non-force users are useless to him. It would be like trading in a 50cal for a musket. Their force potential is nigh zero. Again, Their hypothetical "leadership" skills is irrelevant. Their minds are to be destroyed. He just cares about the body. And, yes, is it odd that they then depower the force-users so they need Tenebrae's power, but when you consider it's lazy writing/implementation and every class is pigeonholed into the same situations because they did not bother to make anything class specific it's cancelled out as an argument. The entire structure of the story is fundamentally messed up. which is why, outside of declaring it Elseworld and continuing on as if it never happened, there is no fixing this game's story. It is forever tarnish and can never recover as long as they include this as part of their SWTOR canon. I'm willing to believe that, even though it was not their destinies to do so, any of the force using classes could have defeated him at the end of Chapter 3. On the merits of power alone they are all candidates, but only the Knight is immune to the mind control. The fact remains that he would not need to ask anyone else to kneel. The Knight is the only one that makes any sense. It's HIS destiny. It is a logical continuation of HIS story. You don't have to like it--I certainly don't--but that's how it is. I would prefer that all the heroes collectively (if you finished their classes stories) be the Outlander S instead of it being one guy. The Scorpio parts I'd rather do with the agent, the Mandalorian parts with the BH, etc. When you meet Jorgan, for instance, he introduces you to the Trooper (if You're not playing the Trooper). And you collect the other heroes similarly along the way and have a choice as to who you play with. You can choose to just be your main or you can swap out heroes and play a different one depending on the chapter. That's how I would have done it.

If you played through Rishi with Sith Warrior, you'll meet Darth Vowrawn who warned you not to trust the Hand and showed you the truth that the Sith Emperor has a plan for you. You found out the entire time, you're being watched by stealth zealot droids worshiping Vitiate.
You're fighting the false Voice of the Emperor but the Emperor already have planned to make you as one.
JK made his (of course, darling) name by destroying the vessel on Dromund Kaas.... except that you never truly killed him either. Sith Emperor became a bloody pinata and its so redundant.

A thread for discussing Star Wars: The Old Republic Yes the official TOR boards aren't going anywhere but their draconian insistence on forbidding non-subs to post means some people aren't going to be able to use them. So anyone here who wants to discuss TOR, go ahead 8-) Isn't this actually a BioWare game? Curious about its placement here.

Just got this game and have so far not left Tython. Haven't agreed to any subscriptions yet. For those who have been playing for a while, is it worth it to subscribe? I get that I'll likely have to buy things in-game but I don't know how much I want to spend. Also, currently only have base game, though if I like it I'll certainly buy expansions.

I've been subbed since the game released in 2011 except for a break I took briefly about a year after it came out. Imo, it's worth it to sub because I play often enough that the preferred restriction irritate me to no end. I do know people who are preferred and it doesn't seem to bother them. I like the freedom subbing gives me. Here is a link with some info that you might find helpful: link I play pretty often, so if you ever need any help don't hesitate to send me a tell.....if you are on Star Forge. If not, you can msg me here

It is worth to sub for at month to unlock many things including parts of the late story. And while you are subbed you can buy some unlocks for ingame money to permanently unlock other useful things. Also, you might use someone's reference code: it will give you 7 days of subscription for free to compare.

I subscribed once and it was not bad; I may subscribe again. Preferred status is many times better than Free-to-Play status; however, Subscriber status is many times better than Preferred status. The limitations of a Free-to-Play status will leave A LOT to be desired. Preferred gives one... some... breathing room, but one still feels the restrictions.
I do not know of every restriction, but off the top of my head, a Free-to-Play status means one credit currency cap is only 200 thousand; for Preferred it is 350 thousand credits. Subscribers do not have any sort of credit cap.
A Free-to-Play status means one cannot use most forms of communication in the in-game chat until around level 25 to 30. Even then, once one reaches it, they can only send a single message every one minute. I believe Preferred status allows one to use chat a little sooner, but do not quote me on that. As of this post, I am Preferred status, and the only time the minute restriction appears is on General chat. All others -- from what I can tell -- seem unrestricted.
I cannot recall the name of violet/purple colored/tier gear -- I believe it is called "artifact gear" -- but MOST of it I cannot use. Some pieces I can use and equip , but most are restricted.
Free-to-Play and Preferred can still fight in Warzone, but only five times a week. Uprisings and Operations are restricted to Subscribers only.
Free-to-Play status means one cannot gain any CXP. Preferred status also prevents one from gaining CXP, but if a Preferred already acquired some when they were subscribed, they can keep their level, they just cannot level up until they subscribe again.
I know Preferred status receives an Escrow. Once a Preferred status player reaches their credit cap, all extra funds go into their Escrow. They can pull credits out of it whenever they like, for a one-time bonus, but that cost Cartel Coins. I believe most Preferred players pull credits out of their Escrow for the GTN. That is what I think; what else would they be pulling funds out of their Escrow for?
Anyway, that is off the top of my head. There is a lot more, but I cannot recall the rest.

Here's a question I'm wondering about. I've tried googling the information but no luck. Why do I exude snowflakes as I'm running around? Saw one other person doing the same. It doesn't affect game play but it's weird.

It doesn't affect game play but it's weird. This is going off of my memory, but I think that there at least used to be some consumable items for the holidays in years past that let you "infect" people with those snowflakes for a time, much like how the Rakghoul infection works during that event. I can't remember if they were given for free to subs like those anniversary fireworks you get, or if they came in Cartel packs. But most likely you happened to be standing among a ton of other people, like at the GTN terminals on the fleet, and someone "got" the lot of you. You should probably see an icon down with the rest of your buffs indicating the snowflake effect, mouse over it to see how long you're "cursed" with it.

Isn't this actually a BioWare game? Curious about its placement here. It's not lively enough to merit its own section and is not really a legacy game. SWTOR had a thread in Off-Topic on the old BSN as well. When I made the topic I had people questioning why I made it. So it's a bit of an oddball.

It doesn't affect game play but it's weird. It is an ability one can purchase from a vendor on the Fleet Station. It allows a player to throw a snowball every 15 seconds. Every time a snowball is thrown, there is a chance one could receive some sort of reward that can be exchanged at a vendor for Christmas themed items.

CrutchCricket The title could use renaming to "Star Wars The Old Republic discussion" instead of just SWTOR. (If that's still too much to ask.) Lorn A text-only forum that is pay-to-post. Larry-3 I rarely sub as it is because whenever I sub, I felt compelled to spend days on the game because I already spent for it. Preferred Status is the middle ground for me, and every 90 days (or so), I could reuse the referral code to get 7 days sub. Not perfect but manageable. I like that I only spend $30 on SWTOR this year. Since 5.6, they introduced Legacy Credit in Legacy Storage Bank. As preferred/f2p, you can put all your 350k/250k credits in it before you reach cap. I'm waiting for my referral to clear up so I could dump all my escrowed credits in it. I generally do not recommend anyone to buy escrow service at all, if you have something from GTN that you need, you just ask anyone you trust in the game to buy for you and you just source the rest of the credits to them through Trade. There's no withdrawal limit. There's a lot of sub-only privilege that can be unlocked through cartel item that by pass the preferred restrictions. If you already used a referral, you'll received an account-wide "Preferred bundle" which contained several unlocks; in particular inventory slot unlock, crew skills unlock and unify colors. Its better to purchase account-wide Artifact Authorization unlock to lift the restriction on purples and event gears. Other than that, there are several important unlocks that you can set your mind to; Character Slot unlocks, quickbar unlocks, GTN slot unlock, guild bank unlock. Of course, all of this will cost credits (cost millions to unlock cargo hold and Legacy stuff too which applies to subscribers)... hence why I spend most of my preferred time on hoarding credits, GTN trade and do as many heroics as I can and then spend my sub time unlocking stuff to ease my preferred quality of life.

I like it, and I agree with all of it. I did not know about the account-wide Artifact Authorization, though. Please tell me more.

Even their website is swtor.com. Don't know why there was such a need to change the thread title. To each their own. Polls are always fun! I greatly prefer solo play, I guess that makes me a bad MMO player. Oh well.

Oooh! A poll, EXCITING! I voted I do mostly solo and small grouping for heroics or flashpoints with people I know, mostly. I left the hardcore shit behind when I left WoW. Though if the Classic Servers are indeed what the classic WoW experience was, I might go back

I really prefer the solo missions. I did team up with two other players last night but when we parted ways I was constantly seeing them on my map and had to initiate "multiplayer" to have a mission conversation. Silliness. I'd rather just have my companion. (Only one so far, hoping others become available along the way.)
