Scalping challenge complete! … and I probably shouldn't have taken it for its moral dubiousness. Why did I do it? Answer: Coin! Look who's sitting on a cool 100k Goodunya! Though I don't get the moral dubiousness reference?

I believe a mission or incentive to go out and kill X number of enemies (1500 in the case of this challenge), not protect positions or take an objective, would essentially be a war crime here if a government did something like that. *Shrug* video games... Crap, I did it again!

Haha, I see, yes but I guess Bastion is under martial law and The Emperor have declared all outlaws outlaws..., Dominion war goals and Scar, well an infestation to be eradicated. Thus all is fair. I've got to say that there has ben a clear upswing in matchmaking speed this weekend. No doubt this means the gaem is even deder than ded.

I took my interceptor to Heart of Rage in GM2. Interceptors are really bad in Heart of Rage, in my opinion, as the Monitor is not something you want to melee... Melee is always a bit of a concern with bosses. Getting the Ultimate filled as fast as possible is probably the best solution. It's a bit annoying with the Monitor fight even though there are ways to get it refilled quicker. But the Scar Temple and Tyrant Mine bosses are easier and more fun I guess. Then again... I rarely even fight the Monitor unless the rest of the team can dish out a lot of damage as well. Otherwise it's just not efficient at all and I can do another run up until the Monitor in the same time. Aside from the boss fight there really is nothing scary for melee Interceptors in HoR though. It's the quickest stronghold by far and pretty easy to rush through. Quoting myself here so I can add to my previous post: I wish we could hotswap loadouts on the fly. I tried switching them via the Forge ingame, but it won't allow you to switch Javelins and therefore loadouts. You can obviously enter the Forge, then equip other items but that's way too complicated if you have several items you want to switch specifically for a boss fight - a more weapon-focussed loadout in my case, which not only requires different skills but also weapons and components. I recorded a HoR run yesterday because of this post. It was a match with randos and the team wasn't very strong overall. Still the time to the 2nd chest was okay-ish. As you can see the boss fight almost takes as long as getting there so it's really not worth it usually even though a leggo dropped this time. I stuck around with the group as they all seemed to be wanting to do a full run. With a decent team I usually use my Ultimate at each stage of the fight and once it's depleted the fight/phase is usually over but in this video it took quite a while longer. That's the problem with having 3 Storms in the match I guess. Speaking of Storms... I totally hate the new mechanic of the hostile Storms. Before the patch I'd charge into them and knock them out of the sky, then be able to melee them to death. Now these assholes stay afloat in the sky, total pain in the ass. And of course I die in the first encounter with them. Also not sure what happened at that one fight when suddenly the menu popped up. Must have misclicked a button I think. Anyways... here's the video:

I've got to say that there has ben a clear upswing in matchmaking speed this weekend. No doubt this means the gaem is even deder than ded. I'm going to have to agree on that. I had 2 solid days of almost zero matches on heaps of attempts. I only managed to get into 1 match and that was on easy. Past day or 2 has been only a handful of failed attempts.

It's not really a new mechanic, but more of an oversight. Their "fall down" was tied up to their shield being broken. Now with the shield tinkering of the last patch they don't have the "fall down mechanic" anymore. Bioware removed/changed the shield behavior on some enemies because they probably couldn't fix the bug that randomly made the shield capable of completely negating certain types of damage. But this way those Storms remain permanently in the air, the intended "lock down" on the ground can't be triggered and actually they are more annoying than before even with the bug.

This weekend though has been more like how it was on release. Very snappy.

Done this many times with melee ground bash + votaic dome + black powder...

I know everyone and their granny uses Rainer's blaze (and Yvenia) since those are pretty much the only viable choices at high difficulties, but this change just encourages it. And Bioware did say something about nerfing the most used gear/components down the road.

today in Anthem - or more like Saturday in Anthem after not playing for a month I loaded/installed the latest patch and gave it a go again: + gameplay is still fun + still looks beautiful + that new rudimentary chat-system is a nice step in the right direction - tried it out in freeplay + I also like the markers/question marks in freeplay (just don't know what the purple-crosshair-thingie means (enemy spawn points?)) EDIT: reading the patch notes helped + EDIT2: still love my Storm - I was all alone while doing a legendary contract not a soul joined - the 20% flight time buff AKA the 20% flight time reduction is still there - still abyssmally long loading times - very few freeplay events happened during my time playing (about an hour of freeplay, only 2 events) - sometimes Faye would say sth about a downed Freelancer/Strider but alas no marker and I couldn't find it - no mentionable loot (oh, apart from [too] many blues - played on GM1. They should get rid of the blues in GM+ already) will try again to play this week if I find the time (need to check out the matchmaking in strongholds )

Today in anthem.
Nothing. Stopped playing for now. The cataclysm update looks good...-ish. But it seems like more of the same. And with that, I don not mean gameplay, because the cataclysm seems like a breath of fresh air and somethign different to do, but what I really mean is: - they ignored loot (okay, they cancelled luck, but I ALWAYS play at 90% luck and let me tell you, it's still slim pickings there). - they still blamed the players (the playerbase didn't understand luck... wtf idiots you take us for?) - It's a time based event. YOU JACKASSES! YOU NEED MORE SHIT TO DO! you already pulled this with elysian chests for fuck knows which reason, and now you put 4 months of company effort into an event of 2 months? That doesn't make sense! *sigh* - they still don't really communicate with the playerbase. They were just there to do an information dump about how they're still not ready, and they wanted to do that before the end of may, because they said they would. But they really didn't want to show anythign yet because nothing yet worked. - they shared no release date, meaning they still don't have their internal processes in order to EVEN MAKE AN ESTIMATE about when it would be done. - I'm also pissed about cataclysm drops being 5 levels higher than current drops. This trivialises all we did before. So I just stopped playing.
Instead, I started up DMC5. And hot damn. What a refreshing breath of fresh air was that? A finished game. With slick presentation. I didn't even know half of how much of a cesspool anthem was presentation-wise until I played something else! So I'm enjoying that for now. I'll probably be back for the cataclysm... probably. But for now, see y'all. Keep fighting the good fight!

Haven't tried fire against them but I guess shields have to be taken down first (as they can't be set on fire otherwise). Not sure how other people think about this and what their experiences are but I feel like this change is a huge and totally unnecessary buff and it's very annoying.

Doesn't the fact that all cataclysm loot is 5 levels higher mean that ALL loot is now probably better than what you had before and, therefore, a huge boost to the chance of getting good stuff? I'm not seeing it as a downside at all, loot-wise!
Not to mention the new support and melee slots which are an entirely new category for MW and Legendary making it much more likely that you can find new stuff that's useful. Plus the melee slots allow you to change up your build entirely with detonater or primer choices that could make a difference to gameplay. Plus, isn't the primary motivator for the super-competetive to actually compete and use the loot they do have to top leader boards? I would have thought that would give pretty good incentive that wasn't there before. More incentive than just a loot quest could ever achieve.

I tend to play my Ranger more than any other Javelin and with that I fire a seeker missile and some grenades at them and then shoot them until they die (or just skip to the shooting part). Whether there were shields in the way or they drop out of the sky before I kill them doesn't really affect me

On Xbox I quickplay GM2 Strongholds and GM3 Missions (story and contracts), these are good for completing weekly challenges, and I usually find a group that sticks around to the end. ...although I spawn into a awful lot of Unfathomable boss fights at the end of Sunken Cell with only one other player. Still, for the Sunken Cell strongholds that I spawn into near the beginning, the group usually sticks around until the Unfathomable boss is defeated.

Well, I knew their fall to the ground happened when their shields were gone. I guess I just thought the force of the spark dash would be enough to knock them down or did so in the past. Haven't tried fire against them but I guess shields have to be taken down first (as they can't be set on fire otherwise). Not sure how other people think about this and what their experiences are but I feel like this change is a huge and totally unnecessary buff and it's very annoying.
I tend to play my Ranger more than any other Javelin and with that I fire a seeker missile and some grenades at them and then shoot them until they die (or just skip to the shooting part). Whether there were shields in the way or they drop out of the sky before I kill them doesn't really affect me I play ranger as well, and on GM3 Freeplay, I run out of ammo trying to take down the shields. Its just lucky the build I currently run fires a lot of Ultimates, but yesterday I was dodging ONE Dominion Storm for a good five minutes while out of ammo, trying to trigger my ultimate to get rid of him. That clown had a sliver of health and shields that just would not go down! But I persisted, and unfortunately his demise triggered the last part of the World Event, and I got swamped by Dominion Brutes and whatnot that I was asked to "clean up". Good thing those "ruins" provide impenetrable cover barriers for me to run and hide. Good times! P.S. This is why players run off to melee random wildlife in the hope of an ammo drop.

Yesterday I learned to "Kill my Darlings", so to speak. I've been using these Legos "Thermal Cooldown" and "Rejuvenating Ammo" that basically are nice to have but really don't help much survivability-wise. Replaced them before some GM2 runs with my Storm to ones that mainly bump armor/shield - and look, I survived! . I really miss the (almost) everlasting flying, though... Hope I can put them back some day, maybe a "GM1 Freeplay build" or something.

Started a new Freelancer playthrough to see what the female voice actress is like, and I decided to do this with an Interceptor. So far this javelin feels like a erratic difficult-to-control melee-ing fool! The handling of this thing is NOTHING like my tightly controlled precision ranger. I do enjoy the fact that, unlike my ranger, she runs TOWARDS the Dominion Frost Hounds and is totally cool if they try to jump on her because she has big bad claws. Unfortunately, there appears to be no one else playing through the story because I've been spawning into all of the Hard story missions solo - crap! On the flip side, I believe I have found a new wallpaper: Hey, I didn't equip an assault rifle! She's using cutscene gun!

On my second pilot I ran everything in private just to experience it that way.

I think this is more logical. Why should they fall just because the shield drops? Grounding shoiuld be because of overheat just as with the player really. Or kinetic force. Try building fot that? No matter to me. I freeze, burn, detonate at the moment.
