Being so used to Third Person games, when I was first introduced to the First Person pov in this game....Not only was it kinda weird to play because I am so not used to playing from that perspective...But honesty, the point of view- at least for a few minutes, as well as the movement from that perspective-- all made me a little dizzy. I actually had to back away, close my eyes and shake it off for a few minutes before I could return to playing. Then once it switched to the Javelin combat, I was totally fine this is more of what I am used to. And then as the game went on, eevn in switching back and forth between the points of view, I no longer got dizzy, and I was actually able to walk around and appreciate the character and environment modeling and colouring....everything looks really pretty. I spent several minutes just walking around The Fort and taking in the sights. Marveling at the colours, textures and realism of many of the objects and materials.
I also got toe-to-toe with Owen because I wanted to check out his character modeling/detailing, and he gave me this really weirded-out look as i seemed to get in his face. Haha! It was actually quite funny. He must've been thinking why is she staring at me so hard?! This is one of the weirdest people I've ever met! I wish she would back up...making me very uncomfortable! And honestly, I was actually expecting him to say something to that effect, but he didn't. He just looked at me. Was kinda disappointed...but oh well. Maybe that's something that will be in the full game.
It took me a while to get the hang of the flying/hovering on KB/M, but that's only because I was new to the control scheme and I'm totally unaccustomed to any kind of flying game where pushing "UP" makes you go down and vice-versa. But once I got the hang of that, and clued-in that I didn't have to hold down shift....It was just a tap and go kind of thing, I was fine. It was actually a lot of fun and as the Devs said "flying was easy". So yeah, once I got used to where my key bindings were and remembering which one did what without having to glance at the Menu, it was actually really fun. THe only real piss-off I had at first was #1 my Internet connection dropped several times in the first hour of play because of work being done in our area....and secondly, I found the intermittent loading screens to be extremely jarring. Like, I'm up to my armpits in action and finally on a roll, I enter a cave....and *Cuts to LOADING Screeen* where I wait for what seemed like an eternity-- then I'm thrust back into the action. I was like C'mon, Man! Let me enjoy the game and stop with the stupid LOADING screens... I was also worried about letting my squadmates down and lagging behind, having to fumble around and try to catch up while they took on the brunt of the action. The other thing that was similarly annoying was *Leaving Mission Area....Returning your Team to the Mission Zone in 5,4,3,2,1.....*Cuts to LOADING SCREEN* where we were all dropped back nowhere near where we were a moment ago....and I was worried that we'd have to make up all that ground again, or re-do parts of the mission.
I can definitely see where this game will require a gaming headset, because there were many times when I wished I could talk to my squadmates and find out what they wanted to do at a certain point, or what they were thinking needed to be done....Would be good to be able to communicate and say "so....what're you thinking about here? What should we try?" Because otherwise, I just ran up to the guys playing with me and it's kind of awkward to see someone run up and stand beside for seemingly no reason...unless you know what's going on in their head.
But my thanks to those who joined in on Missions and chose to fly with the complete noob called "Rumbler 1138" It was a ton of fun, and I think the full game is going to be even better. I don't think the full game will have any of the oddities I have mentioned, except perhaps the LOADING SCREENS, only because that is sorta part in parcel of the style of game I would imagine, being that it's online co-op, and server-dependent. But nonetheless, it was very fun and I am glad to have made my purchase of the LOD. Hope to see you all out in the world again very soon!
And I actually really enjoyed the music. I thought the ANTHEM Theme that played during the Loading Screens was particularly fitting. When I first heard it last week on youtube (the live concert vid with Sarah Saschner playing that vocorder), I wasn't sure I liked the music...kinda thought it was a little weird. But hearing it in game, I actually really like it. Very fitting. I dunno, it just....works. I think I will enjoy the OST when I hear it now in full on its own.
Can't wait to play the full game now! Sad that the DEMO for me is over

Here was my very quick attempt - I hadn't actually done any customization until now but I found it really easy to make a character not look terrible (if that's your intent) this was basically just a black dip with 1 red highlight and decal.

Well I'm home, and I managed to get in right away. I haven't left the hub yet, but I've done some exploring, and toyed around with some of the Javelin customization.
Also, and I'm assuming I'm missing something, but is there no way to take screenshots in (full-screen) Origin games without some 3rd party software?

Set difficulty to normal, went out, almost got my behind handed to me by some snipers in a Scar camp while figuring stuff out. Next, solo'd two Ursix at the same time, without having Bulwark Point equipped, should have checked the Forge first, lol. One of them dropped my first rare, Frag Grenade with 2x 0% bonus because beta

I can't seem to do anything now, like Freeplay or the next mission without getting perma-stuck loading screens but just been messing with the customizing. Lots of options! Loadscreen issue didn't start happening until right after I unlocked Interceptor noooOOo haha.

Ran into so many things while learning how to fly using KB/M! A great many things! Yea, I've hit probably all the rocks in the open free roam area by now Naga Razer Epic with sensitivity cranked up AND 50% flight sensitivity in Anthem settings? The first few flights were just a chaotic mess at the flick of my wrist.

The first few flights were just a chaotic mess at the flick of my wrist. Hi Midnight. Good to hear from you, thanks for your reply. I"ve never been one for flying games (ie flight Sims) so I was totally not used to the "UP is down and DOWN is up" thing, as well, the key bindings I chose (I did so because that's what I use for all my games.....Number Pad 0 for Jump, ENTER for Interact, the Arrows for movement etc)....But it took me some time to clue-in that I didn't have to hold down R-Shift to fly....just tap it once after hovering to engage it and I was off to the races)....then I could concentrate on my movement using my mouse. But judging distance was also tricky because of this. I just laughed at myself....Tried not to get frustrated and think "this game is crap. I'm gonna cancel my preorder"....because it wasn't/isn't. And after sticking with it, I am glad I did....and I am still glad to buy the game. I'm sure, once we all get the game and spend some time playing it....whatever we choose for our control scheme, we'll be used to it soon enough and then it will become like everything else. Down right fun to play.

Had to do the first mission twice, the guide to return didn't show up (either time) so I wandered aimlessly the first time, gave up and redid the mission, taking care to note how to return (I tried bread crumbs but the dang grabbits ate them). FYI for folks and the puzzle … RPG
Second mission had a boss that was pretty tough. I've been playing solo to learn the game, get used to the controls, play at my own pace (dork around in Ft Tarsis). Toward what I think is the end of the second mission, my game locked up, will finish it up soon. So far, having a lot of fun and enjoying the story, even if the demo kinda drops you in the middle of it. Some critiques … Mouse controls are way sluggish in the Fort. If you set things up for there, out in the wilds, you'll grossly over control things. So reverted back. Either Freelancer is really short … or the angle is a bit wrong in the Ft. You have to be reallyclose to trigger a conversation or enable some object. I'm glad m+kb will continue to improve, it's much better than it was … somewhere … but it still has a ways to go. So far, switching weapons is a bit sketchy … but part of it is learning curve, what does annoy is the auto-holster weapons … at very, very inappropriate times … like in a fire fight with "enemies everywhere" … hope that is a bug that won't become a feature in the released version of the game. Overall, again, having a lot of fun. If the rest of the game has similar story throughout, this will be good.

Happy hunting !

I finally got inside the suit, customized a couple of things, wrestled with how the f*** I was supposed to start the expedition (there are too many menus in this game), and then... infinite loading screen. I'd like to stay positive, but my patience is wearing thin. By the by, Anthem doesn't always close properly. I have to manually kill it via the task manager.

Unlocked second Javalin. Picked Colossus and I'm in love. I do like the Ranger but nothing beats making it rain...lead and fire
Oh and that wonderful shield. That is fun.
This is what I'm rocking currently.

Just a few thoughts as I'm wrapping it up for the night. - I got home around 4pm PST, and didn't have any trouble logging in (Origin/PC, KB&M). So that was nice. - I explored Fort Tarsis (with a lot of silent NPCs), and while there wasn't a whole lot of interactivity in the demo, for the most I didn't run into many glitches. Except one notable time when I couldn't get into a Stronghold run, and had to back out to the hub. When I did, my Javelin was sitting 6 feet in the air and facing the wrong direction. I was still able to enter it though... just awkwardly through the front. - I tried some Freeplay on my own while my brothers were getting themselves sorted out. The first session went fine, but when I returned to the hub it said I had leveled up, and unlocked a new Javelin, though it really didn't as I was still 10th level. That left me scratching my head for a bit. - The next "solo" Freeplay session I went in experienced serious rubber-banding, so I had to back out. - One thing I noticed in all the Freeplay sessions though was enemy pop-in was occurring often enough to be annoying. Especially when there were a lot of enemies. - Flight still doesn't feel great with KB&M. It gets a bit easier with practice, but it still feels "off". - The real problems started when I tried to invite my brothers (who were on "Friend" invites) into Freeplay sessions. After accepting the invite, it would just hang for them after loading ~90%. And the same thing happened when they tried to invite me. It would load most of the way, then lock up, and I'd have to force-quit. We tried a number of different times, and it never worked. So I never actually got a chance to play with them. - They also told me that the link for the Friend invites do not work with MS Edge or IE. They got it to work with Firefox though. - While the UI looks slick, I noticed some hiccups. Often having to click twice on elements to bring up the next tab on the right, and I don't think you could navigate with the arrow keys. - Some UI behavior is also little odd. When I click on a Freeplay icon on the map, the expected behavior would be that I'd be brought back to the previous menu to select difficulty/add friends. This confused my brother who I had to walk though in chat. He'd select Freeplay, then click Quickplay and wonder what was going on. Same with adding a squadmate. You'd expect after selecting them, you'd be brought back to the previous menu, but have to back out on your own. That whole section is a bit clunky. - Is there a freelancer (not javelin) stats page? I couldn't find it. - Can you add markers on the map in Freeplay? I did't see a way. I also tried selecting an existing marker on the map to create a waypoint, but I couldn't. - No built-in way to take screenshots?

9 out of 27 attempts to actually log in to the game.
1 out of 9 attempts to actually load a mission.
Anthems broken ass garbage website still says I don't have access to the VIP demo to get friend codes.

A new day, and aside of friend codes, it seems to work. Venturing out into the world.

After getting nothing but infinite loading screens yesterday, I got out of Fort Tarsis without problems this morning and played the first story mission - because it doesn't let me be the Lone Ranger in free roam. First impressions in no special order: - sound is great - performance is smooth (running on all Ultra but with motion blur disabled because I don't like it in any game) - Fort Tarsis looks very nice but so far not very interesting - flying on PC takes some practice, one needs to remain calm and not oversteer - Movement and combat feel like there's weight behind everything, which I really really like - Constrictor shotgun seems to have a trigger delay. Argh! Not again. It sucked with the N7 Crusader back then, it sucks now. - Slightly dodgy interaction of weapons with terrain - bullets that should have gone past rocks hit an invisible wall, enemies electrocuted me through solid rock several times - Not a fan of the UI AT ALL, but that seems to be a BioWare trademark by now. - Played solo on Normal difficulty, which provided a pleasant challenge - not too easy, not frustrating, just right. Despite the negative points mentioned above, I had an enjoyable time. EDIT:

Today in the anthem demo, I spent 30 mins trying to figure the puzzle room out. I loved every minute and when it finally clicked cheered.

And just a little prediction (based on a bad feeling) - in a few hours I might be saying "waiting in a 30 minutes server queue". 😩 Didn't guess that right. "Waiting in an 8-hour server queue..."Seriously though, actually being able to just enjoy the game is a huge plus today.

I guess I'll wait til next week.

The game looks pretty. That's about the only good thing I can say about it so far. Runs well in 1440p/Ultra. Getting about 80+FPS in the roaming areas.
The gunplay is not really entertaining from my perspective, more like serviceable. Maybe I need to figure the combat better but I doubt it will enhance the experience.
Far, far, far too many technical issues. This was advertised as a DEMO, not Beta. Apart from the disaster that were the initial launch hours, now we have infinite loading screens and cutscenes freezing. Not sure who's fault are the loading screens, but the cutscenes are all Bioware's mess. Trying to exit the game has more than 50 % chance of it freezing up.
Map - why are developers still trying to use that crappy Skyrim radar? It is terrible, doesn't tell you much really and a minimap in the lower corner is far superior.
A basic feature - running in Fort Tarsis - is not present. The Fort as a whole is underwhelming. I understand we won't spend much time there, but even the Normandy felt more alive. Not to mention it looks nothing like the E3 2017 trailer and the NPCs facial animations are far worse from what was shown there.
The demo doesn't give much in the story department, so can't really say if it will be good. The few quests we got were nothing to write home about, except deduce that the writers are fans of the "Multiplicity" movie.
