I was thinking about getting the Lancer Of Fortune as well, but I would also have to get some shards. And I don't like it that much to be honest compared to some other armor parts. I'm more hoping for a return of the Reaper armor and the Jigsaw I believe it was called, mainly for the helmets. Given the fact that I don't have that much time to play anyways I didn't buy any shards right away so Lancer Of Fortune probably won't end up in my inventory.

Finished thronebreaker (had to resort to OP tactics I never came up with myself, which is kind of a downer, but whatever). Was a pretty good game overall. Not a card game fan in general (but a HUGE original TW3 gwent fan), but the game was short and sweet. Well done with choice and consequence and stuff. Well worth the 5 bucks. But it didn't push me to play the Gwent game though, had my fill of card antics by the end of it. Started Hellblade: Senua's sacrifice. Kind of weirdly divided on it. I mean, I have never played a game that so obviously is a pure work of genius, and yet... has me starting to lose interest after an hour. What do I mean? Well, first of all: The intro is absolutely one of the best I've ever seen in any game. It sets the mood, gets you all up in sensua's particular brand of psychosis, has you wondering what comes next... fantastic. However, by the end I kinda was asking myself: okay, so... WHY am I here? The why takes a very long time before it is revealed, and even after about 4 hours of play I'm still none to sure about it, which makes it kind of difficult for me to be bother to continue. Especially because the first task is to go on 2 long seemingly meaningless divergent paths to simply open a door... And those divergent tasks consis of puzzles which I first thought: "Hey, really cool and smart!" But then I had to repeat the same puzzles 5 times in both paths, and it become more of a slog than anything else. Thrown in is a bit of swordplay gameplay, which feels very, VERY intense because of the atmosphere , but mainly because of the impending doom of permadeath (Although I admittedly accidentally googled that that isn't real and only a bluff, which is a real downer and kind of broke the suspense for me, but that's my own fault). However, the gameplay is - although very satisfying in terms of connectivity and physicality - very basic, and after about 2 battles I figured out how to play and it doesn't seem to be getting more difficult any time soon, so the battles become pretty repetitive and easy. The boss fights ARE very fun though. They mix it up more, which is how all combat with the normal mooks shoudl be as well. One thing I absolutely LOVE is that because of the psychosis and the voices in your head, they have been able to eliminate any form of HUD, directions, quest markers, story, ... even in battle the voices scream what you have to do. That is so fantasticly, whimsically, gloriously well done. It really makes the whole game's atmosphere blend together so well. More games should try to copy this as much as possible. HUDs should be a thing of the past. Also that is the main selling point of hellblade: the atmosphere. Fantastic. To any normal person, anyway... what I mean is: I don't know if it's just me and I might be too rational about it, but... like, the introduction gave me goosebumps. But by the time I reached the door, I was completely used to the voices and they did very little to me anymore in terms of personal impact. I mean, sure, they set the mood to creep you out, however, NOTHING SCARY EVER ACTUALLY HAPPENS. No jump scares, nothing unpredictable that seems something but then isn't that at all, all of a sudden. So now that I KNOW that nothign will likely happen, it kind of breaks it for me. But, that might just be me and my social dissociative brokenness. Maybe it's a lot mroe scary for normal people. In any case, I'll continue the game (now about to open the door) since it doesn't seem to be very long and, well, I paid for it But'm I'm hoping for it to bring in some more new stuff and to be less repetitive in general (though I know the main selling point of the game is the atmosphere, and that it does pretty good). Also, bought MHW: iceborne for a black friday sale. Looking forward to playing that after I get through my remaining backlog of games. oh, and Anthem? Well, waiting for icetide I guess.

PillarBiter I survived ten minutes of Hellblade. I mean it looks good and IS interesting but I crave action in my games. If I'm going to read a book I'd rather read a book and if I'm to watch a mystery movie I'd rather do it in the sofa with Mrs C. I have tried to juggle both SoS and Breakpoint but it wasn't going to happen so I'll have too get indomitable next year, if it comes back, which I hope.

I have tried to juggle both SoS and Breakpoint but it wasn't going to happen so I'll have too get indomitable next year, if it comes back, which I hope. Hellblade just gets more and more extreme in it's divide between genius and boring. I mean, I just played through a section that has you do 2-3 hours of puzzle solving No action of any kind. And after that, the most intense sword battle there is! Like, seriously, sweating, me shouting "SHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUP!!!" at the screen because some voice in senua's head kept jabbering profanities at me while I was getting my ass handed to me in battle. Probably what they were going for, but... This game is so weirdly geniously boring... Anyway, nearing the end I think so I'll see how I feel about it afterwards. About Anthem, Wanted to purchase the mind's sinew armor, but held back at the last moment. Gotta keep my monies for when something real good comes along >_> Also, listened to the newest freelancer codex podcast. Kinda nice. Icetide shouldn't be too long, I reckon.

FInished Hellblade (and watched the documentary). I feel like I get the game more now, what it's about and what they were trying to do. The shame is that it's not readily apparent whilst playing, and thus causes more frustration than appreciation. In any case, it was a pretty successful experiment as far as game design goes, and it's nice that such taboos can be put out in the open like this. I'll always remember this game by screaming "SHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUP" at the voice in my head while I'm doing a difficult battle, so that's nice I guess Wondering if I should start 'Quantum break' or hold out and see if Bioware communicates about icetide this week...

So since BP was undergoing maintenance...
I started the game!
Not much to report really. The first fight seemed...if anything...a little anticlimactic. Its like...that was easy...oh there are two of them now.
Got through choosing my pilots look and...first person ick. 0/10 must refund. (Kidding...mostly)

Started quantum break! What a nice surprise that one was! Playing QB feels like how an adept in mass effect should feel to play. Real nice. And the story, and the acting! All such much wows. Not without it's flaws though (like controls and overall movement fluidity isn't top notch, but those are minor issues). But altogether: very pleasantly surprised.
Also played through 'Inside'. That was a hoot. Short but sweet.
Still twiddlin' my thumbs for anthem though.

Paying attention to load screen entries (no idea where this blurb shows up in the codex), and, WOW, that's some passive aggressive vegetation! Bioware should have a quest about this in a ga... nevermind
Later... while levelling up pilot #3 as a Colossus main: "Do you feel lucky punk? Well, do ya?"

Loved the game. Instant classic for me. Great storytelling, great story in and of itself. Even respected all the time travel rules. Gameplay okay-ish (You can be a time-biotic vanguard so that's cool!). And an ending which really requires some thinking! One that seems good at first thought, but then... actually isn't Anyway, on to MHW iceborne. Since, well, anthem still isn't doing anything.

Well, if you liked QB, then from the same studio you can try (if you haven't yet) "Alan Wake" and "Control" (not mentioning Max Payne, cuz, well...). I think QB was intended to be the sequel of Alan Wake before they changed a few things to appease Microsoft with a new IP. Remedy Entertainment usually releases interesting games, but the studio's slogan should be "the game didn't reach enough players". I think recently there was an interview about "Control" in the same context.
