I've been wanting to try some solos and after finishing my first bronze IIRC some month ago with FemQuarianEnginerd against geth, a couple of days ago I decided to try silver with a Krogan Vanguard and Reegar with backup Acolyte that I used mostly on a distance. That turned out well and mostly painless so I thought I'll give a try to gold last Saturday (I only tried that years ago with bots, so that doesn't count).
And so I took KroGuard with Reegar only (as this supposed to be the easiest setup), against geth on Glacier. I took Incendiary ammo, additional shields and shotgun amp and Stronghold Package, but was considering additional missiles instead... Might have been a better idea since I used almost all before final wave. I remember using last one to shoot lonely bomber at the LZ. Fortunately it was almost deserted when I run in some 10 secs before evac. I was surprised that I made it as it was my first try, but I didn't have devices, so maybe that's why. Now I'm thinking what setup to try next one of these days. Every other setup will be more difficult I guess. What can I say about the game... It remineded me of some high school lessons, 45 minutes of pain...

Come join us! ...Oh and as far some easy ones go, have a look at the.... how's it called again... uhm... ah, that's right. Ariake! It's one of the challenges in the N7 series. Should be a breeze to roll that one through as a warm up!

45 minutes is A LOT faster than my first similar Gold Solo (Reegar Kroguard/Geth/Giant), so don't fret, good job!
Giant is often easiest FB, but can get murdered with wide open devices vs. long range Geth Primes. So yeah, I think White might be easiest. Both good sniping, and areas to avoid being sniped. Good soft cover, kiting.
Other easy combos:
Asari Huntress vs Reapers
Ghost vs Reapers/Geth
AIU/Geth/White. The tough decision is Geth Scanner vs Shocktrooper. I vote former. Wall hacks and situational awareness are just too useful.
And I should know this, but it has been a long time since I played regularly:
Does Incendiary ammo only do partial damage (0.5x) against health-only synthetics??

CarlosS4444 , congrats ! Now try graal and melee vs geth, it s a breeze too (for a regular plat player), u just have to charge when your shield is down (just shoot some spikes first to prime for a Tech Burst)
Krosent is pretty unkillable too, but u dont have that charge refilling

White is the best map overall for solo-ing. IMO. (And backed up by @thetechnoturian 's dozens of Platinum solos there.)
Any of the infiltrators make solos easy. I did my first two Gold solos with the Turian Infiltrator and the Alliance Infiltration Unit. Asari Huntress needs to be careful not to get dropped - learn how to abuse shieldgate! - but Dark Channel is so powerful it can win the game for you by itself.
Geth Scanner is super, super helpful. I think you need a compelling argument *not* to take it. (The argument could be "I'm really good at solo-ing" or "I want a challenge" - that's cool.)
I'd say the biggest lesson I learned from solo-ing is: don't be afraid to reposition when you have to. 90% of my solo fails come when I try to hold the line "just a bit longer" and get overrun or surrounded.

I ll just add TSOL and GI are great for "soloing to get gud". U dont have a tank, nor a spamable win power (ok cloak is, but no nades nor stims) I was really happy when i first soloed plat with gi talon, felt like i hadnt cheated my way out for the first time.
Btw, the solo thread from Shinobu was full of soloing tips iirc :

I'm sad that I lost my thread from the Bioware message boards about my attempts to solo for the first few times. They also had some good tips, as well as my usual verbose war stories.  Dammit now I want to solo. I have this bee in my bonnet to do Quarian (Female) Engineer with ClayMORE (her powers hide the big shotgun reload) on Jade vs. Reapers... mostly because I got to Wave 9 with that setup fairly easily and then crashed. Grr. |

I attempted the match according to suggestion, and I was sure I'll fail, with 0 gels left from around wave 9 - apparently it's safer to charge BEFORE your barrier wears off, as I learned the hard way. I had hack, targets and devices to disarm. I used additional missiles, all of them, still unsure as to missiles are better then Stronghold Package or not.
The Wraith, although powerful, appears slower at killing enemies than Reegar so far, I had it with shredder module and high caliber barrel, but perhaps smart choke would be better... Anyway, I manage to make it on the first attempt, and this came as a surprise.

Wraith is weight glitched, use HVB. It does more than HCB and Shredder combined and leaves you a second slot for either Smart Choke or Omni-Blade, both of which can make a real difference.

For the Huntress, I use Hurricane. But yeah, since your cycle will be Cloak>DC>shoot, shoot, you can use a heavy weapon (TC cooldown overrides). Incendiary Rds, if you want to exploit warp+Inc, otherwise Warp Rds. A full TC power build plus DC just eats heavies. Poor Banshee. And TC>Warp>shoot takes care of the mobs.
Haven't done the Ghost?? He is THE noob go to (if not the Puggernaut). TC+AR (Harrier, Lancer, Typhoon, PPR), Overload for CC, Stimpack is your get out of jail card. Arguably the most OP kit in the game. And if not ...
Yes, AIU with SG. But I've read (and results seem to match) that TC>Snap Freeze>shoot bugs out the TC SG bonus. So consider TC>shoot for the tough ones (Primes). Reegar is the classic noob build, with Inc rds is godly. But will need something for armor (wpn mod or AP rds).

W3: smooth pizza; W6: targets, done without nuking; W10: targets, used one last nuke and successfully switched to captrolls. Finished with 0/4/4/4 consumables, time: 22:13. Failed a few times before and I don't know how to stand on the line of what is allowed and what is not and not to overstep. I'll keep learning before stepping up to hazard Glacier. |

couldn't get myself to tackle the N7.3 last night, nor to aim properly anymore. remembered i still have a few themed Asari solos to do, went for the Let Me Through. I'm a Doctor. we talking Gold of course i ain't mental like some are around here... got off to a rocky start and had to waste a few gels/ops packs early on... and despite the objectives being not too bad for that map, pulled Devices - Upload - Devices, spent quite a bit of time there due to unfortunate spawns right on top of them hence quite a bit of kiting... even the upload, spawned in the LZ, with the whole spawn right on top of it. anyways, there it was. looking at the hof, the slowest run so fat so ima in two minds about submitting it notwithstanding that i still want my next TC submission be about the N7 complete so have a bit of time there...... |
