Far from the "Show and tell" narrative approach of KOTOR, Jade Empire, DAO/DA2, and ME1-ME3 games.

BioWare's latest is a loot shooter bogged down by a forgettable story and repetitive missions.www.pcgamer.com/anthem-review/I'm actually playing the game right now and have to disagree about the forgettable story so far and, as far as "nothing else is"...hmmm. Did these guys actually play beyond a few missions? ACTUAL issues I've encountered - some connectivity issues, loading screen time has been hit and miss, and not a fan of the range they give between you and your party before they try to reconnect you. The combat and flying is the obvious selling point but voice actors and animation is top notch, lots of lore dispersed around the area to discover- you know, if you are actually looking - and cut scenes have been well done. They hook you pretty quick

You change the prestige of Tarsis and unlock additional areas as you advance through the story and make a name for the Freelancers again.

Even if the leak of the in game store was not intentional it certainly was a very useful tool for Bioware to evaluate the reaction to the 20USD, for Epic armor set, price point.
That leak saved them a lot of grief and turned a potential customer outrage situation into a much quieter one.
Also not a single one of you has made an even remotely valid critique of that video. He says plenty of positive stuff about the game, and it seems he genuinely wants it to be great. He just has a lot of criticism.
Are your feelings hurt folks?

People probably shouldn't expect a review to come out until sometime during the end of next week (at the earliest). Any review which doesn't take into consideration end-game content can be thrown in the trash. So if they appear before the end of next week ... We already know the end game content is the absolute bare bones.

He's more or less making the same arguments other streamers/reviewers are. Don't see the point in getting so worked up about it.

He brings up a curious point about the ingame radar, but I haven't bothered to check on it.

^ I watched that video yesterday and that would explain why the radar seems to broken indeed...
Savegame corruption sucks. Could happen in previous Bioware games too though. Never did to me but a friend of mine had it happen with DAO or DA2. Don't quite remember.
Can't comment on the story but my demo impressions were similar. That female mechanic gave me MEA vibes but the Mathias stuff I liked. So I might just watch the story on Youtube... My headcanon will remain that they made two games out of the same idea. Halfway through Anthem' development they vomited up MEA to save Montreal's aimless clusterfuck. Then they turned the jetpack into flying and, voila, here's your improved MEA combat in an MP environment. Whether or not MEA was actually the better game I can't say based on the demo. They both suffer from horrible design choices that ruin the good parts for me. Put up with it in MEA gritting my teeth, won't do it a second time.

Name some of his wrong opinions that he passes of as facts and why arent they facts? why are you being hostile towards me? He says that Bioware says the screen shot was a leak and accident which he says is total bullshit and a lie. He goes on to tear them apart regarding it as if he has some insider info. I didn't just call your mom a name you know, it's a bloody topic about a game, don't be so lairy.

Figured I'd post Mtashes more critical review.
Definitely looks like the game will land between a 6-7 (and that's not me taking his number and running with it). Sucks too, considering how communicative the dev team has been. But unfortunately, there look to be a lot of design decisions that were poorly thought out; on top of the technical issues. Still, if you enjoy the game, I also think it's important to not let all the negativity ultimately stop you from playing something you may very well enjoy. I'll be getting the game through Gamefly, so I'm technically not spending money on it yet. I want to see how this game evolves over the next few months before I consider a full-on purchase.
Based on one of the BioWare devs quote, Anthem's pretty much going to have the same Destiny 1/The Division 1 treatment, where the whole first year is getting the game to where it should have been (which I'm not surprised about).
That quotes not a bad thing necessarily...but it does reinforce that this game wasn't ready for release.

They've still got to upkeep SWTOR, Dragon Age is on the way, and DICE have already had two fuck ups (w/ Battlefield V and Battlefront II) and that studio is still going.

Played 3 hrs today...
"Hard" on solo/private is, well, pretty damn hard. I got through two of three missions alright but another I had to matchmake with 3 randoms and cut through it like butter. That missions is likely doable on "normal" solo but I'm going for top gear available. I haven't had any issues in terms of disconnects and I'm running on an XBox One X. Free play was actually really great if you looking to explore the area and get some lore codex or visit some secret areas.
Everything has run smoothly so far today. The only thing I haven't tried is inviting friends to the party to play together. I'm the only one of the people I know buying the game that has EA Access so that will have to wait til Feb 22nd.
