Some time ago I came across this image, seeing as I'm more inclined to like werewolves over vampires (if I had to pick one) it was nice to see that there are different variations

Oh, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, along with Percy Jackson and The Chronicles of Narnia are also shows I can get into. Hunger Games, Maze Runner and Ready Player One was good also. PERN will always be my favourite fantasy world though, I think. Anne McCaffery put together a really fascinating world with that series...and I agree, I REALLY want to see it come out in a movie series or a t.v. mini-series. Using movie quotes are fun in everyday life, I've been known to do the same thing here. I'm sorry you get nightmares, I really have that issue, but then again, I'm old and I'm used to all kinds of different programs/movies, I don't think I take things to heart as much as some people do. Reapers from Mass Effect used to give me nightmares especially husks, I only played Mass Effect again last year after 6 years of not playing them that's how bad my imagination can get
I've tried making my own stories in the past, but I'm terrible at getting things on paper, it's all in my head, but once it gets on paper I just don't get very far I also find that it's hard to make something feel unique, as if everything has been done before so it's hard to make something original
I've only seen the first Percy Jackson movie, and the first two of the Chronicles of Narnia
mythology and symbolism has always been a part of fascination for me, as such history was also one of my better subjects back in school I always like scouring out new information about certain things Remembering words and staying focused are my two big problems, my memory is a kind of hit and miss thing. Names, places, words used to describe what I'm trying to say...all of it seems to go "poof" and leaves me struggling with what I was trying to say. Which sucks...I used to be better at coming up with the words I wanted. I loved learning about history, mythology, science and animals growing up. Animal facts tend to be my strongest point though, I did a lot of exploring different animals when I was young, whether it was from watching documentaries or reading up on them in textbooks or wildlife books. Greek mythology was always one of my favourites too, but I love ancient Egyptian art and medieval architecture.

Their shape-shifting abilities are kind of neat and IMO wolves, in general, are a very noble species, along with elephants, musk ox and whales.

'sides, I'd prefer transforming into a fluffy wolf creature then a bloodsucking pale monstrosity

Tigers are more solitary but absolutely beautiful and fierce. Wolves and tigers are my two favourite animals too. According to that Celtic Zodiac, I would be a butterfly...hahaha...Chinese zodiac I'd be a sheep/goat depending on who ya talk to, and Native American astrology I'd be a raven/crow. Interesting. Yeah, vampires do nothing for me either. I can't believe how they're getting romanticized.

I often find it hilarious how people believe that certain zodiac signs have certain character traits and whatever like, I'm a Capricorn and one of Capricorn's trademarks is that they don't have any sense of humor...I'd beg to differ
Only once have I read a story about vampires that I liked (it's a manga) the story itself is actually more of a metaphor about social standing and acceptance (plus the focus is more about the sexual tension between the two main characters then actual blood sucking (...that came out wrong) one thing I hate about modern vampires is how they aren't weak to sunlight anymore (in the manga I mention above, sunlight still weakens vampires but isn't considered lethal)

Man, that's soooo stupid. Mind you, the werewolves in the Twilight series were awesome...seriously, who wouldn't want to have a wolf companion that you were eye-level to its chest but in no danger from it. They did a real nice job of the graphics too. I don't know about Capricorns not having a sense of humour, but they are supposed to be very goal oriented and driven to be successful. I've known Capricorns with great senses of humour.

Personally I've never seen Twilight, just small parts on youtube...love the wolf transformation though some great wolf creatures in manga are the Wolven, they're from a series called Sorcerous Stabber Orphen (it's about magic and stuff like that) they start out all cute and tiny link but once they're fully grown they reach the height of trees link
I am quite goal oriented, drive to success however...not so much, I'm quite introverted so I don't like being on the foreground according to certain sites my 'soul mate' would be someone born under Taurus or Cancer but like I said, I think it's also a lot of hogwash, it's still entertaining to read though
in Japan they also belief that your Blood type influences your personality as well, on that regard some of those points do reflect me quite well...but my brother has the same type as me and doesn't seem to fit it at all (I have type A)

The Twilight werewolves were great. I had to watch Twilight because my sister nagged me into it and she wouldn't check out 300 until I did. It was ok...but I REALLLYY took issue with somethings. I watched the ones after that just because of the wolves, I liked how they were done and thought they were really cool. How the last one, with the kid ended, I thought that was kind of a stupid way to end things...but the wolves... I've never seen that anime, having wolves THAT big as allies would be awesome, do they just stick to their own kind though? ...and I really don't know what my blood type is.

Generally those wolves stick to their own kind, but one of the main characters adopts an abandoned pup (the one in the first image) at first the wolves come to get him back, but once they see how good she is to the pup they allow her to keep it (he can do some amazing magic of his own, mainly bright lights and exploding things, basically he's like a fluffy flash-bang grenade )
I only know what my blood type is because I once asked my mom about it for something at school she herself has O, my dad, brother and I have A which apparently brought some complications (apparently blood types O and A don't mix)

I like werewolves, but only if they shapeshift into actual wolves. I really, intensely dislike the "wolf-man" type of werewolves, sort of like in DAO or Skyrim. I don't understand why they're so popular... I also really dislike vampires. I don't get what's so romantic about them. They are pasty pale with pointed teeth and want to kill you. No!! Go away!!!

it's why I always join the Dawnguard in Skyrim

But in the movie he doesn't turn into an animal; he turns into a monster. So, so stupid and annoying!

He has such a huge role in the books (especially book 5) but he's nowhere to be found
and I agree, some of the names were a bit lazily chosen, but be glad you don't life in my country(Netherlands)...they changed half of the names to make them even more ridiculous I still plan on buying all the books in English at some point, I need the original names badly

most of the fantasy and supernatural stuff seems to come from religions other than Christianity which makes me belive that a fair chunk of it is actually true, angels are clearly a rip off of Valkyr, there are plenty of other such iconic re-writing of history as well
it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to discover that far from just being myths and legends these things exist, although I have to say I would at least prefer the truth of some of them be slightly different to most of the fables /

every religion has an origin story, starting with a man and a woman who become the ancestors of the human race Christianity has Adam and Eve, Shintoism (Japanese religion) has Izanagi and Izanami, even the Norse Mythology has Lif and Lifthrasir (the only two humans to survive the events of Ragnarok)
What I find interesting is that many religions give faces and names to things they couldn't comprehend at the time, it's what makes it so interesting to me For example: 'oh there's a thunderstorm, this must mean someone (Thor, Zeus etc.) is angry at us'
I suspect it's the same with fables, it was meant as warnings or stories told over time that mutated into the legends and myths we know today
also, it's interesting that you mention the Valkyrie, which in Norse-Germanic mythology where women (they escorted fallen warriors into the afterlife), whereas Angels from Christianity are generally male, which -like you said- is an interesting case of rewriting
but as you say, there might be portions of truth in these legends and such as well, there are still many things we as humans can't really understand yet for example, we're not yet sure about what truly happens to someone when they die, are there things like ghosts for example?
I myself am not religious at all, yet funnily enough I love things like the ancient Roman and Greek religions because they have influenced so much books and games

Funnily, even though my country, Austria, is tiny, we have a lot of popular legends of mythical creatures living here and at the densely wooded borders to Germany. The Tatzelwurm. An extremely malevolent, smart yet shy man-sized hybrid between a wurm and a cat. Hides in the Alps to prey on unwary travelers. The Lindwurm: Its sort of a fire breathing stump-winged elongated dragon, incapable of flight. Its the heraldic beast of our city Klagenfurt since the 16th century - and there is even a whole saga written about that beast. Its one of the most famous landmarks of Austria. The Wolpertinger. An evil weird stag horned, winged bunny. Depictions of this creature vary greatly, but they always have the stag horns in common. Some historians believe this myth is actually an over exaggeration of bunnies suffering from a specific infection that does cause them to grow warts on top of their heads which will get so big that it really looks like they have stags horns growing out of their heads.

Some historians believe this myth is actually an over exaggeration of bunnies suffering from a specific infection that does cause them to grow warts on top of their heads which will get so big that it really looks like they have stags horns growing out of their heads. thank you for adding these
and oh my, that Worpletinger looks quite terrifying I saw an image some time ago that looked cuter, but now I'm not sure if I find it so cute anymore

So I went to look at some folklore and mythical creatures from my own homeland (The Netherlands), but there aren't that many (mostly because several are adopted in or from other countries) but in the end I did find a few local ones one of which is the Buckriders, they were spirits who rode around on demonic goats, and it was a name that was used in the 18th century by several thieves and gangs
another well known one are the Witte Wieven (white ladies), who were the spirits of dead women that tended to graveyards and such
And of course my homeland also has the privilege (if you want to call it that) to be the home of the Flying Dutchman

This thing was in the Voynich Manuscript. I guess it's a dragon but since the text has yet to be deciphered, there's no context to its purpose.

thank you for posting though

There are many tales of ghostly Black Dogs in English folklore. Some are benevolent, some are passive and some like the infamous Black Shuck are harbingers of death and destruction. Stories about these spirits have served as inspiration for The Hound of the Baskervilles, Harry Potter and one kickass song by The Darkness...

I remember those from when I played the first Witcher game (and from Harry Potter of course)
I'm not sure I've heard that song though, might have to look it up
thanks for posting
