There are many tales of ghostly Black Dogs in English folklore. Some are benevolent, some are passive and some like the infamous Black Shuck are harbingers of death and destruction. Stories about these spirits have served as inspiration for The Hound of the Baskervilles, Harry Potter and one kickass song by The Darkness... ah! I remember those from when I played the first Witcher game (and from Harry Potter of course)
I'm not sure I've heard that song though, might have to look it up
thanks for posting Here it is;
It's based on a 16th century tale, where Black Shuck supposedly attacked a church congregation.

The single best heat resistant material for scales would be asbestos. Which would make dragons not only fiery, but carcinogenic.

why must you burst my bubble? I wanted a dragon as a pet
Then again...after having seen the How to Train Your Dragon movies, I suspect dragons (if they were real) would be varied in size and scale types as well.

Have you seen this? A hypothetical mockumentary, but really well done. Kinda makes you think..."what if". I really enjoyed this show though.

why do they never show things like this where I life? all they ever show is nature documentaries (which can also be very enjoyable mind you), or documentaries about real stuff (which, while interesting, can get a bit dull sometimes)
Edit: I watched it, and while imo. the dragons shown weren't very spectacular (though I've seen worse), it was quite fun to watch it

I love real documentaries, but this was fun, kinda like Walking With Dinosaurs was fun, but this really appealed to the fantasy/folklore lover in me. It was cool. There's a really neat one about probes landing on an alien planet and the odd lifeforms they sent images back of. It was another mockumentary I thought was neat, well thought out and worth the watch as long as you understand the story is hypothetical and not a real depiction of history. That's like Walking With Dinosaurs...the fossils of the dinosaurs are real, same with the injuries and conditions of the bones/fossils, but the story shown of how those injuries came to be is just one of many possible causes. Shows like this are great for the imagination, anyway.

the image I posted a few posts above, some of the things on it were also drawn upon in the mockumentary (like with that beetle)

They did such a good job of that show! Highly educational and presented so well. But I've always found palaeontology really interesting, same with archaeology. Ah hell...lets' face it, I find most sciences really neat. Life sciences especially. Ichthyology, entomology, primatology ...etc. But space sciences are cool too...yeah...I'm a science geek. I don't know enough to be a nerd, but I am an avid fan of the stuff.

most of my fascination with these things stem from watching anime believe it or not I started watching Sailor Moon and found out people made fan characters for the show, so I decided to play it safe and make (a fairly obvious) one called Sailor Nemesis (hence my username Lady of Nemesis ) at first I just randomly threw some things together, until I found out there's an actual Greco-Roman goddess with the same name characters in the show also take names from gods and goddesses from Greco-Roman mythology (and gemstone names for villains), the main love story also stems from a Greco-Roman myth
so yeah, my love for all things mythology stems from watching anime, but it started before that as well one of my favorite school subjects was history...at least until they reached World War II and kept hanging there (I know I need to learn it, but there's so much more things in history that happened that are just as important)

I really like Greek/Roman mythology too... Norse and Egyptian are neat also, but I'm better acquainted with Greek/Roman. I really LOVE ancient Egyptian art though, I think that's why I was drawn to the movie/show Stargate and Stargate SG-1, the sets and props were so cool. My kids used to watch Sailor Moon, so I am familiar with the show. (Sailor Mars and Jupiter were my favourite Sailor Scouts.)

Some time back I found a very good site with Greco-Roman information linkI think it's quite interesting how they have so many variations of one and the same story:lol:
I'm also a big fan of Asian mythology, particularly Shintoism (the native Japanese religion which has partial Buddhist influence as well) a good site for that is this one link
I mostly find it so interesting how people from those times would come up with ways to understand the world around them it's what draws me to game lore as well, I find it so amazing how they can come up with creating a whole world with gods and everything
(which is why I sincerely hope that Solas is wrong and that he and Mythal weren't the only ' good' Evanuris )

I'm also having a problem with believing they've turned evil and I hope they aren't turned into the enemies in the next story. I'd be more looking into the ones who Solas says killed Mythal as being the future enemies.

We know nothing about him yet...I hope he's a nice chill dude who's like 'why the hell did everything go crazy while I was sleeping? Solas mate what'd you do?' but yeah, it's up to the writers...
truth told, from the Elder Scrolls universe one of my favorite gods is supposed to be of the 'evil' pantheon (the Daedric Princes) Sheogorath Prince of Madness and cheese:hue: (I love that expansion)

It's cause of the cheese, isn't it? That's why you like him so much. I'd really like to see DA go back and reveal the actual ancient elven history though before they continue with what happens after Trespasser. I mean, sure, you get all the written history, but history texts can be altered. I'd like to see them actually have the players go through the history, before the veil went up.

I'm Dutch, it's a given that I like cheese (Sheogorath: CHEESE for everyone!)
He just has a lot of funny lines, especially when he gives the spell to summon Haskill Sheogorath: Isn't that a hoot? I love it, myself. Best part of being a Daedric Prince, really. Go ahead, try it again. He loves it!! Player: *summons Haskill again*
Haskill: *dryly*Ah, summoned again. My lord does so enjoy that, as is His prerogative. I'll assume you're done for now.
Sheogorath just has the best quest lines, even if he is well...mad
-- Who knows, maybe we'll get another time travel mission in the next game...probably not, since it was tied to the Breach... I'd love to see the history though, it'd be interesting Or at least read it...in a book...or something, which reminds me...I still haven't read the last comic yet

I don't want a time travel game, I'd rather it be a prequel game that shows the influence Solas and Mythal had on history...What I'd want to do is introduce a couple of ancient elf characters who actually went through history and caused events to transpire.

Was he from Skyrim or Oblivion? Those are the two Elderscroll games I've played. I remember chuckling over the statue "prince" who you get led to by a talking dog, but it's been a while since I played the game...I can only remember bits and pieces of it. He's in both, but the Shivering Isles was the expansion of Oblivion, which is what those lines are from in it you're summoned by Sheogorath to his realm to stop it from extinction ('cause apparently some other Daedric prince wants to take over) the one with the talking dog is in Skyrim, it's the quest from the Daedric Prince Clavicus Vile
I've also only played Oblivion and Skyrim (plus it's expansions) I've got roughly...1000+ hours on my Skyrim game
I bought Oblivion back in the day 'cause I wanted a new game and my parents refused to let me buy Sims 2 (I later bought the entire series once I got my own pc ) Loved it so much I got really hyped when Skyrim was announced (currently also hyped for Elder Scrolls 6, can't wait to see where we'll be headed)
I own Morrowind on Steam but couldn't really get into it because I didn't understand the controls

Was he from Skyrim or Oblivion? Those are the two Elderscroll games I've played. I remember chuckling over the statue "prince" who you get led to by a talking dog, but it's been a while since I played the game...I can only remember bits and pieces of it. He's in both, but the Shivering Isles was the expansion of Oblivion, which is what those lines are from in it you're summoned by Sheogorath to his realm to stop it from extinction ('cause apparently some other Daedric prince wants to take over) the one with the talking dog is in Skyrim, it's the quest from the Daedric Prince Clavicus Vile

also spiders...not a big fan, I'm not afraid of them...more scared of snakes
when that one guy in Skyrim said "what's next? giant snakes?" I was like "please don't give the developers ideas"
then I played Dragon's Dogma...and what is the first boss battle? A hydra with snake heads (I'm aware a hydra has snake heads...but it was creepy)

It took me forever, but I got through that damn cave and finished off that game. I've never played Dragon's Dogma, I have played Divinity Two: Ego Draconis though. That one was cool, you get to become a dragon. Played Drakan Guard 1&2 watched 3 being played, but never got into it. #2 was the best, IMO. It had fun battles to play...mind you the dragonback missions were kind of ...meh... The game Drakan:The Ancient's Gates was fun...or at least it was before fighting controls improved, now it's just ok. It really needs a reboot and an update in the game controls. I've actually played a lot of different games in the past...so I like because of the story and some I like because of the action and controls. But I like to stay away from shooter games.

Seriously, if you had played ES3: 'Morrowind', you would know that you had played 'Morrowind'. Promise! I really wish there were still some game developers interested in developing games that give an experience like Morrowind (did at the time). I don't really see that there is. ES5: Skyrim is maybe the closest, but that too, was a long time ago now. I truly liked DA3: Inquisition, but no, it's not up there. Not even close. They've ruined it too much by making it all about silly, flashy, boring, grinding, repetitive, meaningless combat. Just like all EA Bioware games, including the latest, Anthem.

The game I'm talking about I played about 6-7 years ago and I do have trouble remembering the names of games or getting one game mixed up with another. But I just checked it out...The game I was thinking about was Forgotten Realm's: Demon Stone... I remember the red and white cover art. Why I was thinking Morrowind, I don't know.
