I agree with you. EA hasn't done Bioware any favors on this. I honestly think if left to Bioware, you wouldn't have seen a demo and the game would still be cooking. Everything else about the game is on Bioware though.

As for my take on the reviews: I think it's still pre-mature as we're not to day 1, technical wise improvements can still be made, as for gameplay issues 😙, not enough time for that stuff to change. I wouldn't expect the score to really change much, I'll still stick to my assumption on it landing between 6s-7s for an average. It's a fun game, but it's not that great (and I'm legit curious on this "innovation" that some see when it does absolutely nothing new that no other game has done) to get 9s or 10s but it's not that bad to get 4 or below to me, it's yet another middle of the lack mediocre kind of game. The cool thing is IT'S FINE to like them cause I have and do to this day, I'm pretty sure anthem will be added to that list for me too as I did have fun in the demo+trial but 7 years on this and that's all they have? Quite disappointing really. There shouldn't have been a staggered release like this, but that is EA problem and not mine. They can live with the consequences of doing it this way. This might have cost them in the end. I know there are people who have canceled their pre-orders because of the reviews coming in for those who go access earlier. If a publisher/dev is going to charge you money for a game then it's open for review. If you don't want your game scored until it's official release date, then don't release it until then and don't take money before then. No sympathy for them. Yeah I won't disagree on early access giving people ammunition vs them before launch, it's a double edged sword. That said I see it as just that, ammunition on what most likely won't and what might change, I still find reviews pre mature nonetheless till it's officially out🤷.

They won't because they got the money already. The early access before launch was a clusterfuck here though, and that is contributing a lot of problems that could have been mitigated if done correctly. It's a shame, really.

It's my hope that EA will see Anthem is a dud and go back to letting Bioware make actual Bioware games: single-player, narrative-driven RPGs. But I won't hold my breath there either. And FFS, let Bioware use the Unreal Engine! How much time have they wasted trying to adopt Frostbite for third-person RPGs at this point, do you think?

Click on username. Rightmost icon. The "cogwheel" or wossname. Block member. Enter preferences. > User hidden. Any idea for phones? Bottom rightmost should be "Desktop" link that takes you to the normal version on mobile. From there you should be able to see the button.

What a silly notion. Review bombing has nothing to do with general reception. That the bombing aligns with a general "meh" just makes them look more justified. There are so many 0s so soon after release that it's just laughable. www.metacritic.com/game/pc/anthem/user-reviewsrofl Oh, so by "review bombing" you mean people giving scores that differ from your opinion. When the 0's are accompanied by "Because EA" or "Because MTX" or any other hobby horse that has nothing to do with problems of the game, it's review bombing. It's pretty obvious that's happening, based on the commentary. And it's causing a reaction -- some of the 10's are explicitly saying they are voting 10 to counter the zeroes. So the User Rating is basically worthless at this point.

Not to mention that EA allowed a ftp game like Apex to release shortly before Anthem. One would of thought that they would of delayed releasing a ftp game before a purchasable product.

This doesn't make sense, unless you think the problems with Anthem are people's perception of it and not the actual game. You say that though as if it's mutually exclusive. All of the issues at play are subjective save for bugs, which is objectivey there during the demos and early access that most have played before full launch. So perceptions going in are rightfully skewed a bit due to the one thing that bioware could control right off the bat. The perceptions of everything else, from narrative to fun factor to how the mechands work, is just opinion of experience. All bug fixing now will help but it is not going to matter for that perception.

Bioware’s worst reviewed video game. Thus far an average metascore of 61. Lower than Andromeda, lower than Sonic, way lower than DA2.
What the hell is going on at BioWare?

As it currently stands, Anthem's metacritic score is closer to Fallout 76 than it is to Andromeda.

Depends on the user. The ones that just say this game in terrible or this game is awesome are worthless. The only user ratings worth anything are the ones that actually take time to explain their reasons for the score.
But taking all of them as a whole is not a good indicator of anything to me.

Who has time to read every single user review? That’s why you just look at the aggregate score which typically, IMO correlates with how the game is. Anthem is a true 3.0/10 shitter.

When critic scores and gamer scores are miles apart there is an underlying cause. Take the recent release of Alita Battle Angel. Reviewers in general trashed it, yet the public seems to like it. Big disconnect between the two where they are usually not that far apart. In Alita case I think it comes down to mainstream BS that seems to get dragged into everything and people are tired of it. It can be the same with games as well when one side is trying to send a message. In the case of anthem though, both seem to be trending low so I would take that as a problem with the game perceived by both critics and gamers.
I don't play it, but from what I have read/saw the design decisions are biting them in the arse.
