I'll try it out whenever it comes out on steam. I'm not big on supporting epic games and anti-consumer practices. The steam page for this says it's going to release August 2020: store.steampowered.com/app/870780/Control/

More RTX power sounds perfect for this one. Although I would wait for the 3080Ti or whatever the equivalent is, which probably will be available at the end of the year if Nvidia sticks to their usual MO.

So this one popped up in my Steam rec list the other day (and is available on GoG either late this week or next week). I'd actually completely forgotten it was a thing. For those who've played on PC - how did it handle? I've managed to avoid spoilers of any kind, other than the basic premise. Also, any comments about performance (especially ray tracing) would be appreciated.

Haven't yet tried it on m yra ytraced powered new PC yet. I likely will eventually just don't know exactly when atm.

It has DLSS 2.0, so I am expecting it to run pretty good on the entire RTX lineup, even with all RTX options at high/max. I think the basic premise is kinda all the game has in the story department. The rest is RTX eye candy and superhero mayhem combat with lots of environment destruction. I would try it only after I get a RTX card. We'll see today if the 30xx series will be it. That RTX 3090 better be real good and without an expected refresh down the line 🤔

I don't need a massively complex or nuanced story to enjoy a game (although it helps, obviously) - and eye candy can be enjoyable.

TBH my only real criticism is it could have used difficulty settings.

Not much in the way of role playing, but I wasn’t expecting it to be, so that’s fine. Ran really smoothly as well. DLSS 2 is some serious black magic. Everything set to max (including RTX) and 4K resolution and had very few sections where the frame rate dropped below 60.

This is what I bought with the money I got back from refunding RDR2.
Took three minutes to know I (for me) made the right decision.
...
I like the retro feel this game has at times, and of course I like 3rd person perspective and Jedi powers. This game ticks the boxes for me.

Be interested to know which gun form you run with as main.
They're all very different and useful, but with important limitations, as well.

I'm a sucker for all of it so far, haven't played yet today so I am still quite early on.
With the voice actor and mocap actor being the same person, the facial animations are quite good as you would expect, feel accurate. I seem to shoot what I'm aiming at when I pull the trigger - this little thing is quite important, and was missing in RDR2 in my short time in it. Not that there is any reason to compare them, but I guess this is helping me learn what I actually like.
3rd Person. Responsive controls. Mysterious setting.
Can't wait to get more powers and uogrades! Learning the pull/throw power is fun, have to refine my keybinds maybe. It is going to be fun.
Do you play on PC or console? Asking for an opinion on DX11/DX12 at this point. So far not having much but an occasional audio hiccup on DX12 and it looks fabulous, but the game recommends DX11 so ???

That's....weird. I don't remember that, sorry. I do know that I ran full ray tracing with DLSS with no issues. There was an issue with overclocking, so I turned that off and ran default clocks and once I did, the issue ( a CTD, from memory) ceased. Pull/throw is great, especially once it is upgraded. In fact, all the powers are really fun (and useful, not often a common pairing).

Now I am looking for cats.
Fun game. I hope that the following game has less of the FMV. I understand some of their reasons for how they did their expository dumps, but not all of them.
Levitation should be further upgradeable - they limited it so that areas of the map would have to be traversed the way the story needed it to. This is a mistake IMO - the map design is brilliant and having more ability to traverse it shouldn't have necessarily endangered the tale being told.
Unlocking a bunch of extra outfits from PS4/PC preorder was easy and fun. New hairstyles too, just an easy hex edit.
I want to play more, and will platinum this game because it is fun. Recommended.

I hope that the following game has less of the FMV. Easily my least enjoyed part of the experience. Found them quite off-putting every time they appeared. But as far as complaints go, that being my biggest is a fairly good sign. Which gun form became your preferred (if you had one)? I liked most of them, but my clear favourite was fully upgraded Pierce. The augmentations for both the gun forms and the powers could've been explained better, though.

I liked most of them, but my clear favourite was fully upgraded Pierce. The augmentations for both the gun forms and the powers could've been explained better, though. I am actually just now getting acquainted with them. Surge is fun, Pierce was on the shelf until Tommasi 2.0, and then became one of my favorites in a matter of minutes. Yeah, the explanation is a little lacking, but it matches Jesse's experience. She got handed a gun, and if not for Polaris she would have been completely screwed against these enemies. Anyone would have been, the Hiss may as well be Predators. She has to figure it out... It was a smart device, and the gameplay probably has kept most really casual players from getting into it. That is a bit of a shame, but in a way it is also fitting. Not every game should be for everybody, I suppose, and being the Director of the FBC with zero training and no manual, is a little rough. I was too invested in the story experience to really tinker much with the guns. So, to wind up this meandering critique, I'll have to get back to you on my favorite gun form Pierce is definitely a candidate. Grip is right there. Surge is like a turbo Venom, I have killed myself with it a LOT lol. I like it. Need to use Spin and Shatter more, haven't given them a lot of work although Shatter was a nice sidearm for Pierce in that Tommasi battle, for the flying mooks.
