extra content is almost always exclusive to Remakes, Remasters are typically, not even updated graphics, just a high definition upscale of resolution and sometimes increased FPS. Remasters are typically something no one really cares about because it does very little aside from making an older game available on newer console platforms or Windows OS's.

I have never seen a remaster advertise new content, but it could be more content in the vein of DLC, expansions, pre-order content, or anything else that is already created and released but not always available to all platforms or players.

Here is an article about the Command and Conquer Remaster that was just released. It might give you a better idea what would be done with Mass Effect if they do a remaster.

Too bad, considering how successful me3mp was and the fact they have at least two maps almost done if they invested a wee bit of work in adding just a few things sales would increase alot.

Much like if you get a greatest hits from certain bands or artists it was trendy for a while for them to add a few previously unreleased tracks,
