What would you think of a Mass Effect game set in an alternate timeline where humanity finds the Prothean ruins and Mass Relays much earlier? The player could be an astronaut and commands a space shuttle like spacecraft. The first sections of the game are limited to Earth's solar system. You could choose whether this astronaut has a military or scientific background. What would you think of being able to choose the nation your astronaut comes from?
What would you think of having the game set during the 80s and having the Soviets being involved leads to a Virmire type situation on Mars?
Or should an American named after an American astronaut be the protagonist again? How about giving them the last name of Slayton? Deke Slayton was one of America's first astronauts and I think he had a cool name! How would you feel if the male default model was Joel Kinnamen? Later in the game the player becomes a commander in the newly formed Alliance Navy and they now command a much more advanced ship.
What would you think of first contact involving the Asari or even Hanar instead of the Turians?
Could such a game be a good idea or should Bioware move forward in the ME timeline? |

Not a fan of it, though it does sound like good fan-faction stuff.
Personally, they should move forward and flesh out Andromeda and its mysteries more. There is a lot they can do in Milky Way but it would have to be concurrent or prior to the trilogy. Part of what made it work was how less human-centric humanity was...which had underlying tension here and there.

Even though I just skimmed 2 and 3 a bit and play 1 atm. I cannot remember who would be "slav" in it? Rear Admiral Mikhailovich in ME1, General Petrovsky and partially Kai Leng in ME3. In ME2, I believe no one. Yeah I encountered Mikhailovich, but he didnt feel (sound) like one  I forgot completely Omega DLC... so basically for me Brecka was the most visible and heard one. I'm waiting for a Finn to be in a game not made by Finns and speaking rallye english
