If Mass Effect had like 15 games and 60 pieces of story based DLC, dozens of novels, 100s of comics, and 6 anime movies and had been around for over 25 years, then MAYBE a new timeline/continuity/hard reboot would make sense but starting a new timeline/continuity/hard reboot at this time is just stupid, because it doesn't NEED one!

I'd not only say yes... but stick to Andromeda.
This doesn't mean we can't go back to the Milky Way but it's better to traverse new ground.

That entirely depends on whether you think Andromeda is worth continuing in. The MW they have very few options. Either hard reboot, a small reboot with the potential remasters where the endings are changed, a time jump big enough none of the shit in the trilogy matters but where you can use much of its established setting like keep the citadel, omega etc, or set a canon ending.
I'm fine with sticking with Andromeda but as i think all the characters were duds, and the places shown were all boring as fuck, a time jump so Kadara port is the size of omega, cities of millions are all over to visit etc. But, its sales were bad enough to stop all DLC and can the studio making it so I don't know if Bioware wants to stick with it. Which potentially opens up the MW options, of which a hard reboot might be there best choice. I kind of doubt it though if there is a rumored remaster it would seem off with a hard reboot coming later, and when really 2030. It looks like they are at almost 0 progress with DA4, next ME is so far off its almost not worth the speculation. But really MEA2 what 8 years after MEA1, that seems like a loser move to me. If they were going to have a sequel it should have been coming out this year or next, its already been 3 years.

What it really comes down to then is which is more marketable. The idea I keep seeing is that places like the Citadel have more to offer, but the reality is that they don’t. No location does. It wouldn’t be the same old content we remember. It would still be populated with new characters, new stories and lines of dialogue, so it really makes no difference. What it does offer though is a good nostalgia tug, and that would probably be enough to get momentum out the gate, but it won’t be enough to make it better. After all, the entire trilogy has plenty to draw reference from to create a Mass Effect game that takes place anywhere. If the developers couldn’t make a new setting work, it stands to reason they probably wouldn’t have done that well with the old one either.

If I were to remake the MET, the first thing on the agenda would be to stretch out the timeline. Sorry, Earth being a major player in 25 years has never worked for me. Humanity should have become a client race to the turians and have minimum of a century to gain independence. In this timeline we have a Cerberus that makes sense. They want to free humanity from bondage. Events of ME1 are similar in regard to Shep and Saren. Shep becomes a Spectre, humanity proves it can act as a defender of the galaxy during the Battle of the Citadel and then humanity gets a seat at the table.
Other than that, Kaidan as a romance option for BroShep. (Shocking, I know.)

Exactly.
I've seen enough of the Citadel in the trilogy and it's the same every time the Wards look a nice suburb and/or a gentrified ghetto and the Presidium looks like an overgrown expensive shopping mall and Omega is a dump/awful ghetto/war zone. Been there. Seen that. Done that.
Even money says that remasters won't change a damn thing about the story, gameplay, the endings, or content. It'll be a graphical update and that will be all. I hope that I'm wrong but I've learned the hard way to keep my expectations low especially for companies like EA, who don't have a great track record to begin, then you're never disappointed and then when they do make a good or great game like MEA or "fix" story, gameplay, or content in a remaster then you can pleasantly surprised for a change.
Although I still think a MET remaster is a HUGE mistake and will do a lot more harm than good, because it doesn't need one and pandering to fans NEVER works in the long run. If BioWare announced that MEA2 was coming to XBX and PS5 I would be looking to pre-order a console and the game today an MET remaster is something I get when it's on sale or when I get around to it. It's NOT a day/week/month 1 buy it's a "MAYBE I in 4-6 months" kind of a deal.

Ah.. but I believe new players won't have that reaction because they are not tied down to the "old" game.

Maybe with new players, but the question that raises is how many new players would they attract with a prequel? Andromeda was designed to be a place for new players as well which is why they wanted to cut a lot of player made choices from the games. Its the same thing for me if the remake does exist is how many people are really going to buy it for it looks targeted pretty much to Playstation owners since they are the only ones that are not backwards compatible to the older games.

Its the same thing for me if the remake does exist is how many people are really going to buy it for it looks targeted pretty much to Playstation owners since they are the only ones that are not backwards compatible to the older games. More than that, new players aren't born overnight and even then, they're going to make a small number of your customer base. You can snag them by appealing to a certain niche that isn't well catered to, or an exciting new take on a large, popular genre, but even so, you're not going to get the entire Gundam fanbase to try Anthem, to play with big mech suits, nor are you going to get the entire Destiny fanbase, that wasn't satisfied with Destiny. You'll get crumbs of that and if you do a good job and word spreads, more people will flock. Bioware isn't Star Wars and even Star Wars isn't what it used to be.
If there is a market for Science Fantasy shooter RPGs, it's much smaller than the military shooter one. And Bioware burnt that fanbase specifically twice. Not only does it not bode well for the future, but any vote of confidence in ME at this point to actually deliver as a base experience is going to hard to find. And I'm sure there are 150 people here that will vote in favour of Bioware, no matter what they do and will say how "it's fine" when it releases, when every other player and publication will bury it in criticism, but that's not success. That's a repeat of the Montreal scenario and we know how well that went.
tl;dr if you're going to base the future of your studio on "new players" be prepared to be disappointed.

It's a fair bet that protagonist will always be human, and really, it's just as well. People hoping for xeno PC's are waiting a long time for a train don't come.

At least for voiced protagonists. It gets expensive to hire 5 voice actors for the same role. And if its going to be fixed to one race, Human is the most likely choice.

So you can save money to invest into a biotic surgery to upgrade to him having the gene. well I would have ingame side quest in gene research to upgrade your characters. I would have newer factions on principle.

Well Keep in mind that I have several other Player Characters in mind outside of my Volus Infiltrator and my Cerberus Phantom. Like Cerberus Phantom and Volus Infiltrator, the rest of my Player Characters are very capable. For example, Having a C-Sec Officer that is searching for a Serial Killer. Another is having a Krogan Berserker on a journey of self discovery and how to control his blood rage. I have a Geth Duo of a Geth Hunter and Geth Engineer and somehow tied back into the Collector Plot.
