Time will tell, and I think either way, this is the last hurrah for Thedas. Going forward, it'll be "New Thedas", where more get along in harmony and less...."problematic nations". I somehow expect the elves to be vindicated and justified in how they treated everyone else, and the Chantry to be shown as "evil", as well as everyone tied to it, unless they recant and shun the Maker and the Chantry somehow, regardless if they come from Tevinter or the rest of Thedas. Monkey's paw curls... Hated the Chantry for years. Still don't like it to this day. Hated how they treated the mages like Imperial Japan treated pilots. Didn't like how they treated the Templars. Keeping them hooked on lyrium and controlling access like drug dealers. And how they discarded both, like broken tools when they could no longer function as a result of their service. Most of all hated the condescending and sanctimonious sneers from their so called Mothers and Grand Clerics. With Elthina and Petrice being the standouts of smug arrogance. But I don't want them to go out like this. And with Solas and the Evunaris it would be an impressive and sad feat if BioWare managed to twist and contort themselves to somehow vindicate the elves. The Dalish in particular. Especially when the rest of the lore tends to castigate them routinely. If the Chantry is to be torn down and the elves lifted up, it needs to be earned. Not force fed dubious propaganda garbage. On another note, can't wait to see how they further butcher the Qunari, as the ridiculous foreheads weren't enough. If you're right, they'll get the job done right proper this time.

Just wanted to throw out this link here, it's a good (if highly editorialized) read on Chantry politics, mostly circa DA2. old.reddit.com/r/dragonage/comments/omvhr7/da2_spoilers_that_time_a_loyal_noncorrupt/A very brief TLDR is that the Chantry as an institution pre Mage Templar War is no where near as powerful and united as certain characters, and indeed certain players, might claim it to be. It's an interesting read, regardless.

If you're right, they'll get the job done right proper this time. Not all parts of the Chantry were bad, but you're not wrong about the parts that are. But yeah, I just see them basically take and vindicate the elves, who have sort of been the whipping post of the others for a long time it feels - from the Werewolves of the Brecelian forest, to being treated like dirt in Kirkwall, and not to mention how they're viewed in Orlais, I have no doubt that they will be shown to be "right" about a lot of things. As for the Qunari, Qwyddion was the first major nail in the coffin for the Qunari as they once were. Since, apparently Qwyddion isn't Tal-Vashoth, as people tried to say (somehow, she's part of the Qun still being a Saerbaas?) And then, the giant foreheaded Qunari that just looks like a human doing really bad cosplay (to be fair, all the non-humans look like they're jut cosplaying non-human races)? I've said it before and will keep saying it - the Qunari are gone as well. They have been since Inquisition. What we have now is the "Qwynari", like Qwyddion - who according to many, is part of the Qun somehow, despite being Saerbaas. This really does reek of Andromeda done up as Dragon Age, which just reinforces my thoughts that this game will be mid at best. An "okay" game; nothing spectacular, but not exactly terrible, either.

Actually, this sort of relates to a question I reflected upon not too long ago: do you think any of the Veilguard party members believes in the Maker or in Andraste being the Bride of the Maker? Will they use phrases like “Maker’s Breath” or “Andraste’s Blood”?
I ask because I haven’t heard a single reference to either religious icon in the preview footage. And if none of them believe in the Maker or Andrastev… well, that’s kind of like setting a story in the Imperium of Man and never having anyone invoke the Emperor’s name.
